Have you ever wondered how a painter made that tree look so real? How a potter shaped such a graceful bowl with that gorgeous color? How a collage artist combined so many materials into that meaningful piece of art? Satisfy your curiosity by visiting the 7th Annual Artist at Work Studio Tour the last weekend in September to see artists as they demonstrate their techniques and skills. From Friday, September 27th through Sunday, September 29th dozens of artists from all over the northern Adirondacks will be at work in their own studios, at one of three Artist Outpost locations, or in art galleries. Grab one of the Artist at Work Tour Guides at Studio Tour Central - the Adirondack Artists’ Guild, 52 Main Street in Saranac Lake – in one of the other art galleries, in many businesses, and on the Saranac Lake ArtWorks website. The yearround guide includes a map to all studio locations, as well as information on each artist that will help you find each one. Watch for the signs too. Note: Not all studios are open all 3 days. Check the listing carefully. Looking for lunch; a place to stay; a kayak rental; more entertainment; or supplies – please visit one of our generous sponsors listed in the guide. The artists of the northern Adirondacks welcome you to visit them on this special weekend during the peak of the autumn color season. See how art is made up close and personal, then take home a piece of art that speaks to you! Have a great weekend! For Tour Guide booklets or other information, contact coordinator Cris Winters at 518-524-0533 or [email protected]. The Artist at Work Studio Tour is organized by Saranac Lake ArtWorks, with the help of our local artists, business sponsors, and a Developing Community Arts Grant administered by the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts, funded by the New York Council on the Arts.
