INVEST KANSAI
 We interviewed Mr. Roderick Wols, Chairman of the Kansai Consular
Corps, about the business and living environment of Kansai.
Three misunderstandings about Japan/Kansai
In Europe, people have some misunderstandings about Japan/Kansai, such as
“too far away”, “everything is expensive”, or “there is a language barrier”. In
Kansai, these aren’t true. There are many flights from all over the world flying to
Kansai International airport. You can find comfortable hotels and nice food at
reasonable prices, bilingual signs in public transportations. There is nothing to
worry about.
Easy access “Kansai”
A lot of industries and global companies are in Kansai already. Kansai is located
at the center of Japan. From Tokyo or Fukuoka, it takes only 2.5 hours by
Shinkansen (bullet train). By locating in both Tokyo and Kansai makes your
business easier and stronger.
The cities in Kansai, such as Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Nara, are very unique.
Each has various features such as a long history, culture and a tradition of
international trade. Excellent public transportations make it easy to move
between cities and also from residential areas with rich nature to city centers.
Friendly and helpful people
The people in Kansai are friendly and frank, which makes business easier. The
businesslike attitude and the easygoing way of life are a good combination of
Kansai. The people in Kansai are helpful and welcome foreigners. You always
feel at home.
