AV S p e c i a l i s t s
Malcolm Stewart from Kensington Home Technology regularly writes articles for
The Sunday Times, under their Ask The Experts section in their Homes supplement.
In addition to this, we have been featured in Grand Designs magazine and
House and Gardens.
Trade Associations
We are members of the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association
(CEDIA). CEDIA is an international trade association of companies that specialize in planning and installing electronic systems for the home. These systems
include home networking, home automation and communication systems,
media rooms, single or multi-room entertainment systems..
Unlike most AV companies, we are also members of the National Inspection
Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC).
NICEIC acts as the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary regulatory body for electrical installation safety matters throughout the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electrical contractors that have been assessed
against Scheme requirements, including the national electrical safety standard
BS 7671, the IEE Wiring Regulations.

Projects
AV S p e c i a l i s t s
Our showroom has been designed to show our clients the range of AV and
control systems that we can use in our projects. Set up as a living space rather
than a cinema, the space allows us to demonstrate how AV hardware can be incorporated into joinery and furniture to minimize impact on the décor without
losing quality.
Designed with the help of
many of our partners including
Crestron, B&W and Loewe, our
demonstration room provides
our clients the opportunity to
see and try our wide range of
automation products, AV systems and lighting controls.

Mayfair
AV S p e c i a l i s t s
The brief was to install a very high tech AV and
lighting control system as part of a full refurbishment of an apartment in Mayfair. All the hardware
except the televisions needed to be hidden from
view and needed to be controlled using wireless
Crestron touchpanels.
The finished solution
allows the client and his
family full control and
access to centralised
audio and video servers,
DVD players, Sky HD
and Playstation3 using
a single remote. At the touch of a button the client can close the curtains, adjust the lighting to the
required level and cue up a movie.
Lighting control is provided from centralized lighting racks linked to discreet keypads and wireless
touchpanels. We have programmed the lighting
system to allow us remote system control allowing us to adjust lighting scenes
and lamp levels.
We provide full remote management of the network and systems as part of a
maintenance contract allowing us to upgrade and monitor the systems 24/7.

Knightsbridge
AV S p e c i a l i s t s
Our brief was to install a data and AV solution into an apartment in Knightsbridge
which had been finished to a very high standard. The client wanted high quality audio and video but did not want to have the equipment on show or have to
completely redecorate; whilst still retaining full control.
Our solution includes music in every room accessed from a centralised server
providing access to the clients large audio collection at the touch of a button as
well as radio and on line services.
In the sitting room a 50” Plasma screen
was installed into a custom designed
cabinet designed to match the existing
finishes. The speakers and subwoofer for
the surround sound are integrated into
the automated cabinet for a truly discreet
solution.
In the bedroom a drop down projection screen disappears into the ceiling when
not in use and the projector is installed into a custom cabinet to minimize the
impact on the room as the ceiling void was insufficient for us to install a projector
lift. On wall speakers disguised behind iconic imagery provide the full cinema
experience without overly impacting the room.
The whole property is controlled using programmed wireless touchpanels providing simply discreet control of all AV systems without the need for multiple
remote controls.
Throughout the project our experienced
installers were mindful to minimize the
impact on the finishes and used ingenuity
and skill to run large quantities of cable
throughout the property which meant the
client did not need to completely redecorate at the end of the project.

AV S p e c i a l i s t s
The brief for this project was to provide whole house AV and CCTV systems
as well as a full structured cabling infrastructure for data, telephone and aerial
distribution.
We installed a centralized Crestron
system to control AV, lighting and CCTV
systems in the principal rooms; in guest
and staff rooms local audio and video
systems were provided. The structured
network allows the client to incorporate
these secondary rooms onto the whole
house system if required at a later date.
Lighting control is provided from centralized lighting racks linked to discreet
keypads and wireless touchpanels. We have programmed the lighting system to
allow us remote system control allowing us to adjust lighting scenes and lamp
levels.
In the basement we have installed a high end surround sound cinema, but as all
the hardware is discreetly and securely installed into the walls/ceiling or joinery
the space doubles as the children’s playroom.
The client was keen to stress from the outset that this is first and foremost a family house and that all AV systems needed to be simple to use for all members of
the family (including grandparents!) , whilst still providing the high quality AV
that he required. Programmed access control means that the systems available
to each member of the family can be restricted as appropriate.
We provide full remote
management of the network and systems as part
of a maintenance contract
allowing us to upgrade and
monitor the systems 24/7.

Country House, Dorset
AV S p e c i a l i s t s
Our brief was to install a full AV and data
network in a large listed country house.
As usual the priority was to supply a high
performance discreetly installed system,
with simple to use controls.
During the project we worked closely with the interior designer to integrate our
hardware into custom joinery and furniture. In the media room a 65” plasma was
built in to a custom cabinet; the AV hardware, speakers and a sub-woofer were
also integrated into the joinery to create a stunning cinema solution.
In total, the house has twelve audio
zones with the capability in each room
to independently access a centralised
music server, web radio and online services. Zones can be linked for entertaining with independent volume control
in each area. The whole system is controlled using wireless handheld controllers to provide simple but fully functioned control in each area.
Throughout the house, discrete in-ceiling and in-wall speakers have been used
with all cables running back to a centralised location.
The data network has been designed to
give two independent wireless access
zones for business and family use whilst
the whole house has been wired to provide fast ethernet and switched telephony
in all rooms in the house as well as outbuildings and staff accommodation.
The finished solution is a beautiful house
with state of the art technology sympathetically installed.

AV S p e c i a l i s t s
The brief was to install a multi-room audio system, a CCTV for the external areas
and stables and an exchange based telephone system, utilising existing cables
where possible, to minimise disruption. As this is a listed 17th Century house
we were very restricted in how and where we could run cables and the finished
solution had to be in keeping with the look and feel of the property
The solution we chose for the music was
a wired/wireless system. In order to minimise new cabling, All the main house areas
were wired back to a central position and
remote and external locations were connected wirelessly. All control was provided
by wireless touchpanels providing full control of music, radio and web services.
For the CCTV we installed eight day / night cameras, linked to a digital Video
recorder (DVR). This was linked back to the central station and connected to the
security system to provide remote management and alerts. The client could also
monitor and control all cameras via a web browser.
A multi-line Panasonic telephone system including voice mail, call transfer and
IP services, was installed. Using a combination of wired handsets connected over
the existing telephone cabling infrastructure and DECT handsets connected using a number of extenders the client is able to enjoy fully functioned telephony
services both in the property and in all external areas including the pool and staff
accommodation.
We provide full remote management of the network and systems as part of a
maintenance contract allowing us to upgrade and monitor the systems 24/7.

Crestron Lighting
AV S p e c i a l i s t s
Houses can be transformed by a well designed lighting
plan. We don’t do lighting design itself, we leave that to
experts in that particular field. What we do however, is
lighting control.
Modern lighting design gives you tremendous flexibility
on how a space is perceived. By setting up a selection of
lighting moods, such as a bright scene for general use or a more subtly lit space
for evening entertaining, the space can be transformed for different occasions.
Lighting control can also do far more than simple scene changes. Passive Infa
Red (PIR) detectors can trigger scenes which can be set differently at different
times of the day. You no longer need to leave the hall light all night, incase the
children need to visit the bathroom. Instead have a PIR located in the hall way.
If it senses someone in the hall after 11pm, it can trigger just the low level stair
lights. This gives enough light to get safely to the bathroom but without dazzling
the person.
Astronomical time clock functions alter the scenes and follow the changing sunrise and sun set times. Scene one by the front door can do have very different
functions, depending whether it is summer or winter.
In addition to simple lighting control, Crestron Lighting can also control your
electronic blinds or curtains. Now, combined with the astronomical time clock,
the system can close the curtains and alter the lighting in preparation for sunset or it can open your curtains at 7am every morning, Monday - Friday and at
8.30am at weekends.
With a lighting control solution, you can tell us how you would like your system
to work and we will implement it.

The Sonos music system allows you to
controll all of your music, from anywhere
in the house. Different rooms can listen
to differnt music, or you can group rooms
to play the same thing.
Music can be stored on your network or
steamed live over the internet, using either free Internet based radio stations or
the subscription based Napster service.
This latter option gives you unlimited access to over 5 million tracks, for around £10 per month.
The music is controlled using a hand held, touch screen, wireless controller with a very intuative inteface, which will feel very familiar to anyone who has ever used an iPod and most who haven’t.
