Peoples Day programme 2010
Welcome
2
Welcome to Lewisham People’s Day
At 26 years old, Lewisham People’s Day is one
of the largest and longest running community
festivals in London. I am proud of the support
the Council and the community has given the
festival over the years to help it flourish.
I am always amazed at the sheer number of
individuals and community groups that work
with the People’s Day team all year round, to
create the projects, performances and artworks
that make this a truly unique event.
This year People’s Day is celebrating home-grown talent and I am
looking forward to seeing and hearing some of the many artists and
performers who live, work and learn in our very creative borough.
I am particularly grateful to all of our event partners for their continuing
commitment to People’s Day.
I hope you have a wonderful day.
Best wishes
General information
We don’t have room in the programme to tell you about
all of the amazing things happening at People’s Day so
for more information go to www.lewisham.gov.uk/
peoplesday.
Opening times
Mountsfield Park will open to visitors at 12noon and the
last entry will be at 6.30pm. The festival finishes at 8pm.
Food & drink
International food stalls can be found in each area of the
park. Fully licensed bars are located on the Main Stage
Lawn and next to the Big Top Tea Rooms.
Recycling
The cleaning crew work really hard to keep the festival
clean and tidy, so please help them out by not leaving
your litter on the ground – including cigarette butts –
and please use the correct recycling bins. Glass is not
permitted on site – so don’t bring any with you. To find
out more about recycling in Lewisham and see the special
‘carrier bag’ flags made for us by Holbeach School head
up to the green area on the day or go to
www.lewisham.gov.uk/environment.
Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham
