Backpack giveaway a great success!
From Big Ideas to littleBits: littleBits technology
democratizes hardware development and invention
On the third floor of the
On-Site building (formerly
known as Watertower II) in
Downtown Campbell, two
boys, ages seven and eight,
play a toy fishing game
against each other. At first
glance, the game resembles
a toy from decades past in
which fish are pulled out of a
wind-up rotating pond with a
magnetic fishing pole. While
the objective is the same,
this updated version replaces
magnets with motors and
pits two players against each
other. One player controls
the rotation of the motorized
pond, protecting the fish. The
opposing player controls
the motorized up and down
motion of the fishing pole,
catching the fish.
It’s
a
surprisingly
sophisticated
piece
of
machinery
with
wires
snaking about and electronic
motors buzzing. What’s more
surprising is the boys made
it themselves in a matter of
minutes.
On the first Thursday
night of every month,
students ranging in age from
eight to seventeen meet at
On-Site for littleBits. OnSite, a tech company that
makes cloud-based software
for apartment owners and
property managers sponsors
the monthly event.
At the center of each
class are the eponymous
Bits. Looking something
like high tech Legos, each
Bit comprises a small circuit
board with aspecific function
built to snap together with
other Bits using magnets—
no soldering, wiring or
programming required. Using
the power supply, dimmer
switch and LED Bits, for
example, students can make
a primitive flashlight. But
that’s just thebeginning.
littleBits students from
across the world have used
the 50 plus types of Bits
to make devices ranging
from practical to Rube
Goldbergian,
including
analog music synthesizers,
mini boom boxes, voice
controlled remote control
cars and automated cat food
dispensers.
For now the students in Joe
Dean’s littleBits class focus
on building the fishing game.
The littleBits instructor, Dean
gives students a demo of
the device they’re going to
build and gives them the Bits
they’ll need. From there, it’s
up to the students to figure out
how the device is put together
and make something that
replicates Dean’s archetype
or betters it.
One student earns praise
for figuring out how to power
the motorized pond and the
fishing pole using one ninevolt battery instead of two.
“Seeing this type of creativity
and innovation from the kids
is whatinspires me to provide
these monthly classes for the
community.” says Dean, a
software engineer at On-Site,
who volunteers as the class
instructor.
“I started teaching my
own kids about computer
programming because they
were not getting this level
of technical education at
school,” Dean says. “As I was
doing this I realized that this
is important knowledge for
all kids to have and I wanted
to provide other kids with
the same opportunity that
I’m providing for my own
k i d s .”
After years of teaching
computer programming to
kids Dean heard a story about
littleBits on the This Week in
Tech podcast.
“I decided to check it out
and within one week I was the
founder of the Silicon Valley
littleBits chapter, the first
and only chapter in Silicon
Valley,” Dean says.
With dozens of littleBits
chapters around the world,

littleBits technology...
...continued from page 1
Dean considers it ironic
for an area that hosts some
of the world’s biggest tech
companies to only now get
involved with littleBits.
“I think the focus today in
Silicon Valley is on software
development as opposed to
sitting down with a soldering
iron and making something
tangible,” Dean says. “In a
way, littleBits is a throwback
to Silicon Valley’s analog
roots and companies like
Hewlett Packard and Fairchild
Semiconductor.”
Eventually, Dean hopes
to bridge the gap between
analog
and
software
engineering by teaching
students how to program their
littleBits devices to perform
more complex functions.
“It’s a way of bringing
engineering to life that analog
or software technology alone
can’t match,” Dean says. “It’s
a holistic approach to teaching
kids about engineering.”
Founded in 2011 by Ayah
Bdeir, littleBits’ mission is
to democratize hardware
by empowering everyone to
create inventions, large and
small, with their platform
of easy-to-use electronic
building blocks.

Campbell and the 1893 World’s Fair Columbia Exposition
Most of us have heard
about the 1915 Panama Pacific
International Exposition that took
place in San Francisco because
of its 100th anniversary being
celebrated this year. Yet many of
us have probably never heard of
the 1893 World’s Fair Columbia
Exposition that took place in
Chicago, which celebrated the
400th anniversary of Columbus’
1492 discovery of America, even
though the Exposition was a major
shining moment for California,
Santa Clara County, and even
some well known citizens right
here in Campbell.
The official State report on
California’s participation reveals
just how involved Campbell was
in the amazing event in which
every state built magnificent
exhibit halls filled with the
products of each of their counties
and state in general, decorated
their halls splendidly, and did
their utmost to impress fairgoers
and advertise the great things
about their home state in hopes of
thrilling visitors and drumming
up future trade.
There in the list of exhibitors
for Santa Clara County in the
California building, mentioned
for providing “Table Fruits,” is
one very familiar name: “Mrs.
Ben Campbell.” She was none
other than the wife of Campbell’s
founder and would have been
about 58 when she took part in
helping fill Santa Clara County’s
bountiful fruit display in the
California State exhibit..
California set out to steal the
show at the Columbia Exposition.
Not only were we the first state
to appropriate funds for our
entry to get an early start on
producing an amazing showing,
to the tune of $300,000, which
was greatly added to by public
donations, but we also built the
largest exhibit building, giving
it a Mission style adobe-like
finished exterior. Inside, soaring
halls were decorated so lavishly
with vast amounts of fruits,
flowers, statuary, and palms
that visitors said the air inside
was heavy with the fragrance
of oranges and flowers, and it
was like being in a lush, tropical
paradise. A 123 year old 50 foot
tall, 45,000 pound palm tree that
grew from a seed planted in San
Diego by Junipero Serra in 1770,
transported successfully across
the country, stood at the center
under the dome.
Just as planned, almost
immediately California became
the star attraction, “always doing
something to keep up the interest,”
as the Chicago Herald put it and
having “an air of prosperity and
abundance about it all that is
seen in no other State building.”
We gave out real California
peaches, grapes, plums, pears,
and oranges to 300,000 visitors,
had a “Poppy room” decked out
with California poppies, a tower
of oranges, and one wonderfully
silly touch was a gigantic beetroot wearing a label: “I am a
beet.” Some 40,000 visitors a
day came through, leaving raving
comments. “Surpasses anything
the world has ever seen,” a farmer
from Missouri wrote, while a
teacher from New York City
wrote, “After seeing California’s
exhibit I feel still prouder of my
country.” The exhibit won 376
awards.
Santa Clara County’s exhibit,
costing $28,000, was the third
most expensive County one in
the State, behind only Alameda
and Los Angeles. Our displays of
perishable fruits and vegetables
had to travel almost 2,000 miles
by train and still look as fresh as if
they had just been picked, so jars
and cans were used. Some display
jars were up to two feet in length
to hold entire branches of fruits
suspended in solution, while dried
fruits were arranged decoratively.
The star attraction of the building
was another surprisingly wacky
one: the “Prune Horse,” a horse
and armored-knight rider statue
on a pedestal, completely covered
in dark and light French and
Silver prunes, which was the
show stopper everyone talked
about during the exhibition.
Other familiar Campbell
names show up in the exhibitors
list for Santa Clara County.
“Campbell F.G. Union” – the
Fruit-Growers Union—displayed
“Dried Fruits in Variety.” A Mrs.
H.A. Foote also provided “Table
Fruits,” as did Mrs. Hill. R.D.
Shaw of Campbell sent “Dried
Prunes.” Mrs. Campbell’s brother
and nephew, J.E. Rucker & Son,
provided the insurance on the
building for $125.
Two other exhibit donors
mentioned in the list elicit a
double take. “A.M. McGlincy”
of Campbell provided “Cherries
and Peaches,” along with “Table
Fruits and fruits in solution,” and
“R.P. McGlincy” of Campbell
provided “Peaches in Solution.”
Just three years before the
infamous McGlincy Murders in
which they and four others were
killed by their son-in-law, we find
that Col. Richard Parram “R.P.”
McGlincy and his wife Ada were
safely enjoying a sweet moment
of success.
Their moment of success
wasn’t just in having their fruits
included in the exhibit. R.P.
McGlincy was the Manager
of Santa Clara County’s entire
exhibit for the 1893 Columbia
Exposition.

Diabetes Scams Fool with Quack Cures
Watch out for an email scam
promoting medicine for diabetes
or other common medical
conditions. These messages claim
that the products are endorsed by
official organizations and offer
amazing results, but it’s all a con.
How the Scam Works:
You get an email alerting you
to an amazing new medicine that
will “reverse” your diabetes. To
establish credibility, the message
drops the names of a variety of
established organizations. In
one recent email, the study was
allegedly released by NASA
and endorsed by both Harvard
and Johns Hopkins University.
Impressive!
At the end of the email, a link
leads you to a website to learn
more about the “cure.” It leads
to a website touting the product’s
amazing affects and detailing the
conspiracy theory that has kept
this “cure” a secret. Of course,
you can also buy the “blood sugar
stabilizer” on the site, and it just
happens to be on sale.
Don’t buy it! The product
wasn’t endorsed by Harvard
or NASA, and it can’t make
diabetes symptoms disappear.
If you purchase this “miracle
cure,” you will likely end up with
expensive vitamin supplements.
However, you are also sharing
your credit card and personal
information with scammers,
which opens you up to a risk
of unauthorized charges and
identity theft.
How to Spot a Quack Cure: Spot a fraudulent “cure” by
watching out for these red flags:
The product is a “miracle
cure.” If a real cure for a serious
disease were discovered, it would
be widely reported through the
news media and prescribed by
health professionals – not buried
in print ads, TV infomercials or
on websites.
Conspiracy theories. These
statements are used to distract
consumers from the obvious,
common-sense questions about
the so-called miracle cure.
One product does it
all… instantly. Be suspicious
of products that claim to
immediately cure a wide range of
diseases. No one product could
be effective against a long, varied
list of conditions or diseases.
Personal
testimonials
instead
of
scientific
evidence. Success stories are
easy to make up and are not a
substitute for scientific evidence.
It’s “all natural.” Just
because it’s natural does not mean
it’s good for you. All natural does
not mean the same thing as safe.
Check with your doctor: If
you’re tempted to buy an
unproven product or one with
questionable claims, check with
your doctor or other health care
professional first.

Why is there a marked uptick
in tenants being asked to leave by
Kirkwood Plaza Apts??? This is
NOT a coincidence. 4 properties
in 2 weeks? And that’s only the
people I know about....what is
going on? Silicon Valley Greed?
I’ve called John Kirkorian

referred me to his property

sad really. Laura Stuart, Campbell

Kathryn Grant Crosby and Local Entertainers to
Perform for New San Jose Musical Theater
Nineteen local musical
theater performers and special
guest star Kathryn Grant Crosby
— the Hollywood starlet who
married crooner Bing Crosby —
will headline a gala and concert
for a new performing arts group
called the San Jose Musical
Theater (SJMT).
The group’s program, “Just
One of Those Things”: An
Evening with Cole Porter, will
be held Sunday, August 23, at the
San Jose Woman’s Club, 75 S.
11th St., San Jose.
The fundraiser begins at 6
p.m. and includes silent and live
auctions, wine and appetizers,
and raffles.
In addition, the musical
program will feature selections
from composer Porter’s vast
repertoire, including “Anything
Goes,” “Night and Day,” You’re
the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out
of You” and “Too Darn Hot,”
according to Lucy Haab, the
group’s Executive Manager and
Producer of the program. Haab
has worked on- and off-stage with
several Bay Area community
theater groups for more than 35
years.
Haab says the new SJMT
hopes to add significantly to local
musical theater for the San Jose
community-at-large, performed
by local residents of all ages at
“family friendly” prices. She also said the new
group hopes to make the San
Jose cultural landscape a more
vibrant one by offering more
opportunities to participants
both as production and audience
members.
Tickets are $35 per person or
two for $60. They are available at
www.sjmt.org or by calling 800838-3006.
Crosby, who appeared in
several films before marrying
Bing in 1957, later went on
to appear with the American
Conservatory Theatre (ACT) of
San Francisco and starred in TV
specials with her husband. In
1996, she was featured in the
Broadway production of “State
Fair.” Three years after her
Broadway debut, the mom of
three attended a South Bay
Musical Theatre production of
“State Fair” at the invitation of
director C. Michael Traw, who is
also directing the Porter show. According to Traw, who also
serves as the SJMT’s Artistic
Manager, Crosby, who is 81, still
sings and “has a lovely voice.”
For the Porter show, she will
sing “Love for Sale” and “It’s All
Right with Me.” In addition to Crosby, the
program will feature several
local popular musical theater
performers, including James
Creer, Karen DeHart, Barry
Lloyd and Tammy Nelson, who
is also a featured performer in
San Francisco’s popular review
“Beach Blanket Babylon.”
Music director for the Porter
show is Bob Sunshine, who has
worked with several Bay Area
theater groups. K. Michael Riley,
local stand-up comedian, will
be the master of ceremonies and
auctioneer for the evening.
Auction items and raffle
prizes at the gala include
Disneyland passes, a piano
donated by San Jose Piano, a
plane ride over Golden Gate
Bridge with a stop for lunch
in Half Moon Bay, a sailboat
ride for four, cruises, restaurant
gift cards, jewelry, tickets to a
Broadway show and backstage
tour, signed Broadway posters
and memorabilia.
The new group, which
formed last year, is composed
of about 60 local residents who
are passionate about musical
theater, according to Haab. The
10-member Board of Directors
has a great deal of experience in
musical theater.
SJMT is currently forming
a Founders’ Circle and seeking
donations from private business,
community
groups
and
individuals. It hopes to produce
several shows a year that feature
local musical theater talent.

Australia Is Regaining
Its Mojo By David White
Australian wine has fallen
out of fashion.
In the late 1990s, Americans
became obsessed with wines from
the Land Down Under. For most
of this millennium’s first decade,
fruit bombs with quirky names
and eye-catching labels flew off
the shelves of U.S. retailers. But
sales soon began free-falling.
Between 2008 and 2013, the
U.S. market for Australian wine
declined by more than 20 percent.
Finally, though, Australian
vintners are beginning to
recognize what went wrong -- and
working to show America that
they make plenty of fine wine.
Their efforts could soon pay off.
The collapse is easily
explained.
Thanks largely to Yellow Tail,
Australia became synonymous
with the bargain bin. That became
a liability as consumers grew
interested in more serious wine.
Aspirational drinkers eschewed
Australia’s
cheerful,
sweet
offerings and instead looked to
California and Europe.
Plus, competition at the
bottom end of the market is fierce.
Conditions there are impacted
by currency fluctuations, trade
politics, and agricultural policies.
So it’s impossible to dominate
the bargain bin indefinitely.
Indeed, as the Australian dollar
strengthened, it became harder
for Yellow Tail’s many imitators
to compete. Consumers spending
less than $7 per bottle were easily
satisfied with alternatives from
Chile and Argentina.
Consumers also soured on
Australia’s expensive wines.
Consider the wines of Amon-Ra,
which retail for $95 per bottle.
Robert Parker, Jr., the world’s
leading wine critic, awarded the
producer’s 2012 bottling 97+
points, describing it as “a beast
. . . that is densely packed with
black fruit.” There’s an audience
for high-octane wines, to be
sure. But that market has shrunk
dramatically in recent years as
consumers have embraced more
elegant, food-friendly wines.
Chester
Osborn,
chief
winemaker at d’Arenberg, an
iconic Australian winery founded
in 1912, has felt Australia’s
crash. And he agrees with this
assessment.
“There are a few wines
that have been pointed out as
representative of Australia, but
they’re exactly the opposite of
what we should be known for,”
he said last week. “There are
thousands of wineries here.”
When we chatted about
Yellow Tail and its imitators,
Osborn pointed to America’s
cheapest offerings. “It’s like
saying that the jug wines from
California’s
Central
Valley
represent the whole of California
-- or the whole [of] the United
States.” A salient observation,
considering Australia is about
the same size as the continental
United States.
At the top end, according to
Osborn, “the wines that got lots of
reviews were often just the really
ripe ones, which is unfortunate
because there are so many great
wines here that aren’t fat and
overripe.”
Osborn has no reason to be
bitter. His wines, which range
in price from $11 to $99, have
always been praised by Parker
and other critics. And unlike
Australia’s
most
bombastic
offerings, Osborn’s wines age
gracefully.
Fortunately,
Osborn
is
beginning to see renewed
interest in his wines -- and brand
Australia -- from sommeliers
and retailers across the United

States. He believes that American
consumers will soon take another
look.
“[Over the past few years],
buyers were telling me, ‘no,
Australia is not that interesting.’
But now, it’s completely
different,” Osborn continued.
“The gatekeepers are once again
saying, ‘yes, I’m really interested
in Australia. There are some great
wines there that we’ve really
forgotten about.’”
One of those gatekeepers
is Andrew Limberg, the general
manager of Rose’s Luxury in
Washington, D.C., one of the
nation’s
hottest
restaurants.
When adventurous drinkers
visit, Limberg loves pouring
wines from Anton Van Klopper,
a winemaker in Australia’s
Adelaide Hills who is praised
by natural wine enthusiasts for
rejecting irrigation, harvesting by
hand, and relying on native yeasts
for fermentation.
Limberg typically presents
one of two wines from Van
Klopper: A Sauvignon Blanc
that’s 50-percent skin fermented
or a Pinot Noir that’s somewhere
between red and rosé. Both
wines are cloudy, crunchy, and
absolutely captivating -- unlike
anything one would expect from
Australia.
Take note. From classic
wineries like d’Arenberg to
upstart operations like Anton Van
Klopper’s, Australia offers plenty
of wines worth drinking.

Elaine's Real Estate Corner
by Elaine Motekaitis
Every now & then we all need a refresher course. What about Props
13, 60 & 90?? Remember them?? Not sure? What are the differences?
How do these Props apply to homeowners?
Okay, Let’s start with Proposition #13. Thanks to Howard Jarvis &
Paul Gann, Prop 13 was voted in 1978 to limit property tax assessment
rate to only one percent for all California property and annual
tax increases cannot exceed more than two percent annually, thus
protecting a new owner by a forever 2 percent cap on annual property
tax increases. This is especially valuable as one reaches retirement age
and has the comfort of knowing tax increases are limited to a 2 percent
cap. All purchased homes fall under Proposition 13.
Propositions 60 & 90 relate to moving from your primary
residence to another home and transferring your present tax base to the
new property. These Props were initiated to protect older homeowners
wanting to downsize from their larger home and to avoid paying huge
tax increases. Remember every time a home is sold, the new tax is
based on the present purchase price.
There are a few rules and conditions : Proposition 60 & 90
1. It is necessary for one of the homeowners to be at least 55 yrs. of
age
2. The purchase of the new home must be equal or less of the value of
their present home – the home they are selling. (For example – you
sell your home for one million dollars; you can now home for one
million or less and transfer your old home tax base to the newer
home. You will resume your old tax base on your new home)
3. This transaction must be completed in two years or less. (There
are exceptions if one is building a new home – you could possibly
have a 5 to 10% overage from the sale of the original home.
4. The property tax can only be transferred from reciprocating
counties. Presently there are limited number of counties in the
state that are participating in the county exchange.
5. This is a onetime transfer for either spouse
Here is the difference between Proposition 60 & 90
Proposition 60 allows transfers of base year values within the
same county (intracounty). Proposition 90 allows transfers
from one county to As of November 20, 2014, only ten counties
have passed an ordinance authorizing intercounty transfers;
however, it is recommended that you call your assessor for
verification as it could change anytime.another county in
California (intercounty) and it is the discretion of each county
to authorize such transfers.
The above is a general outline. Of course, for individual
circumstances, it always wise to consult a tax preparer to answer your
special questions.
For real estate questions, please feel free to contact me. I will be
happy to address your inquiries.

Play the Oops Card Game with a regular deck of playing cards.
by Brent Evans
A Success Booster is any powerful Idea,
Action, Strategy, Habit, or Tool That
Increases Your Power to Achieve What You
Want.
Play Oops for Life and Math Success.
One of the most important words in our language is oops. If you
havenÕt said oops in the last few weeks, you are probably not
trying hard enough to succeed. Life certainly has opportunities for
oops! We all have times when we suddenly realize we have made
a mistake and our goals are in trouble. That realization is actually
a good thing if it is followed by corrective action. If you find
yourself going over your desired weight, say oops and then take
corrective action. If you go over your budget or fail to reach any
other desired situation, the very first thing to do is say oops.
You can get more practice with oops by playing the Oops Card
Game. It has the added value of increasing your ability to be a
math success. Just think how proud you will feel when other
people refer to you as a math success. If you are a student, the
teacher might even put it on your report card.
All face cards are worth 10. A Ten card counts as a minus 10. A
Four card counts as a zero. A Three card has no number value, but
it makes the next card played a minus. For example if a Five card
follows a Three card, it would be a minus 5. All other cards retain
their usual number value.
The object of the game is to avoid being the player who goes over
99. Shuffle a regular deck of playing cards and deal five to each
player. Dealer sets unused deck face down in center of table, and
takes the top card and places it face up next to the unused deck.
Each player in turn draws a card from the unused deck, and then
places one card from his hand on the face up card pile, adding the
value of his card to the total already there. For example, if the
starting card is a King, then the starting number would be ten. The
first player might put a 6 on it, and announces that the total was
now16. If the next player played a Jack, the total would be 26.
Players should save any Tens, Fours, Threes, or Aces for later,
when the total becomes dangerously close to 99. When it does,
players use those cards to avoid going over 99. Any player unable
to play a card without going over 99 is out of the game and must
say oops. The game continues with the total remaining the same,
and the next player tries to avoid going over 99. Last player
remaining in the game wins.
Make the game more meaningful by connecting it to one of your
important goals and corrective actions you will take when your
goal is in trouble.

No. 15134
NOTICE OF PETITION TO ADMINISTER ESTATE
OF LEONARD MARTIN COX
Case No. 1-15-PR 176819
To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and
persons who may otherwise be interested in the will or estate,
or both, of: LEONARD MARTIN COX, AKA LEONARD M. COX
A Petition for Probate has been filed by: ANDREW M. COX
in the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara.
The petition for probate requests that: ANDREW M. COX
be appointed as personal representative to administer the
estate of the decedent.
The petition requests the decedent’s will and codicils, if any, be
admitted to probate. The will and any codicils are available for
examination in the file kept by the court.
The petition requests authority to administer the estate under the
Independent Administration of Estates Act. (This authority will
allow the personal representative to take many actions without
obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important
actions, however, the personal representative will be required
to give notice to interested persons unless they have waived
notice or consented to the proposed action.) The independent
administration authority will be granted unless an interested
person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause
why the court should not grant the authority.
A hearing on the petition will be held in this court as follows:
August 13, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in Dept. 10 Superior Court located
at 191 N. First St. San Jose, CA 95113.
If you object to the granting of the petition, you should appear
at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections
with the court before the hearing. Your appearance may be in
person or by your attorney.
If you are a creditor or a contingent creditor of the decedent,
you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy to the
personal representative appointed by the court within the later of
either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of letters
to a general personal representative, as defined section 58(b)
of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date
of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under section
9052 of the California Probate Code. Other California statutes
and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You
may want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in
California law.
You may examine the file kept by the court. If you are a
person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a
Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing of an
inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or
account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request
for Special Notice form is available from the court clerk.

The Beautification of Campbell, one box at a time!
Have you noticed that
Campbell has gotten a bit more
beautiful lately?
It’s thanks to “Art Outside
the Box”, a beautification project
undertaken by the City’s Civic
Improvement Commission (CIC)
that is turning common utility
boxes into beautiful outdoor art.
Project Manager Alan Zisser
realized at the outset that the
Campbell Artists’ Guild would be
the perfect partner to help develop
and launch the program. At his
request, four Guild members
formed a volunteer committee
to work with the CIC: Armidia
Costello, Sharon La Bouff, AmyElyse Neer and Barbara Weiss.
After nearly 150 hours of
both weekly planning sessions
and additional production work
outside of the meetings, Guild
members created the “Call to
Artists” invitations incorporating
artwork by Amy-Elyse Neer.
Invitations were distributed to
relevant locations identified
by the Guild to ensure artists
throughout Santa Clara County
were aware of the opportunity.
The response from local
artists
was
overwhelming.
Nearly 50 concept drawings were
received from approximately
40 applicants. “Selecting only
a few from all of the impressive
submissions was a very difficult
task”, said Armidia Costello.
But select they did, and as of
this week there are 6 beautifully
painted utility boxes in and
around downtown Campbell.
Four more paintings are in the
works. To find the locations of
these painted boxes, log onto

“The Guild’s Art Box
Committee contributed planning,
research, materials and color
consultations,
document
development
and
technical
information. Members continue
to volunteer to clean and prime
the boxes prior to painting by the
artists. The Guild also contributed
financially to this successful
program and sponsored one of
the boxes,” said Barbara Weiss,
then President of the Guild.
“With Phase 1 nearly complete,
the Guild’s committee is looking
forward to working with the CIC
on Phase 2, which may include an
additional 10 utility boxes spread
throughout the City.”
Campbell Artists¹ Guild was
founded in 1965 by a group of
local artists and craftsmen. The
Guild¹s purpose is to unite those
who have an interest in art who
wish to work together to promote
creative expression in various arts
and to foster artistic development
by making available workshops,
demonstrations, and discussion
of common problems.
The Guild¹s annual art show
is currently on exhibit in the Rose
Shenson Gallery of The Triton
Museum of Art, Santa Clara until
August 30th.
All interested artists are
welcome to attend Guild meetings
held on the fourth Saturday each
month. You do not have to live
in Campbell to join. For meeting
time and location plus other
information about the Guild go
