NRMCA`s Annual Convention
NRMCA ANNUAL CONVENTION 2016 Sunday, April 10 - Tuesday, April 12, 2016 Loews Coronado Bay Resort, San Diego, CA Dear Colleague, Each year, as industry leaders gather at NRMCA’s Annual Convention, I am reminded of the strength and determination of our members to provide a better work environment for their employees, a better return on their business investments, and a better, more sustainable environment for us all. This commitment from our members has facilitated the launch of a major new NRMCA initiative to promote the advantages of concrete construction in the low/mid-rise buildings market. Taking back market share from the wood industry will create more concrete jobs, enhance investment in the industry and educate the design/build community on the life-cycle advantages of building with concrete. At NRMCA’s Annual Convention, you’ll hear all about the progress we’ve made in designing a long-term program to boost this important market segment. We’re also proud to present a slate of speakers that will pique your interest and inform your outlook on the housing market, relating to Millennials and examine the exciting developments of the Panama Canal Expansion Program. We’re happy to welcome back housing expert, Arthur (Chris) C. Nelson, Ph.D., ASCE, FAICP. Dr. Nelson is professor of planning and real estate development, as well as associate dean for research in the College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona. Nelson will discuss how the Baby Boom shaped America’s housing market and why the future housing market will be nothing like the past. Author and speaker Nadira Hira will discuss how Millennials are breaking all molds and going their own way. And finally, we will present Luis Ferreira, communications specialist officer and engineer operations coordinator, Panama Canal Authority who will discuss concrete’s role in this impressive expansion project. As always, our Annual Convention will also feature a celebration of the industry’s best at the Annual Awards Breakfast – always an emotional highlight of the Convention – as well as our annual Business Meeting and CONCRETEPAC events. I look forward to seeing all of you in San Diego! Robert Garbini, P.E. President, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Register Early & Save!
