II II II II II II II II 22 March 2013 AXIS Golf 1834 Centre Street #320051 West Roxbury, MA 02132 ATTN: Mr. Phil Long, Vice President M & S Dear Phil, SUB-JECT: Axis Umbra 2 Putter I went to the Pete Carlson's Golf Expo on February 8th for the specific buying a new driver. I got there as they opened and walked vendors trying the Adams, the Cleveland and Callaway drivers. and finally chose a Cleveland. through purpose of the various I went back and forth They did not have the model I wanted at the Expo so I picked it up at the store. I guess I was feeling a little guilty, so I convinced Saturday to buy a new driver. Similarly settling on the Ping Rhapsody. my wife to go to the Expo on to my trials she hit several different The Ping representative brands, suggested that we special order one with a 44" shaft, rather than the longer shaft which comes on the stock model. This would need to be ordered from Ping. I knew processing the order would take a little intention time so I suggested Nancy go look at the putters, which we had no of buying. It did take some time to process the special order so I ambled - -~ do";n to the putting area. I was happy, or at least satisfied, with my current putter:- Having spent about $500 on the new drivers I was not looking to buy any more golf equipment. Nancy was putting thought and so I just looked around a bit. I saw the Axis it was a very weird looking piece of equipment. of buying a new putter. and The Axis representative, Phil Long, came over and began to explain the unique design of the Axis. fine, but I still had no intention putter It sounded Phil asked what putter I was using, and then some other questions about my putting. Brian B. Torsney Sr., 37736 Colebridge Street, Palm Desert, CA 92211, Telephone: 760-837-1846 He gave me a putter to try out and so I agreed. The wind was blowing so badly, that my eyes were tearing and I could not focus on the ball. I hit a few balls, and was not really impressed. He then gave me the Axis Umbra 2 Flat and I started to putt again. I sank 8 in a row from about 8 feet, maybe not impressive to some, but very impressive for me. I then watched Nancy putt and she had just hit 6 in a row from about the same distance. That was impressive. We both agreed·that we had already spent enough money on golf equipment and we left. Phil gave me his card with the order details if we changed our minds. The Expo had another day to go. We headed for Ivey Ranch to play golf, but decided it was too cold once we got there. 0 •.•the way home we talked about the putters and agreed that we had spent too much money on golf equipment for the weekend. Back at homewe talked about the putters some more. -we-deciCIeatogo -lJacl< and if - - -we still liked the putters to share one. The only difference between the 2 putters was, I thought, the shaft length. That was not the case. The lie angle, if that is what it is called, was different. Mine was "flat" Nancy's was not. We ordered the two putters. Nancy's was available at the Expo, mine had to be special ordered. I will add this report as we use our new putters. I hope the results are similar to those we experienced at the Expo. I got my Axis Putter on Thursday. I tried using it the first time on Friday. The course was crowded and very windy. I tried 3 or 4 putts on the putting green, and we decided to go home. We went out again on Saturday. I tried about 12 putts on the putting green. The putting green closely resembles the real greens on our course. It slopes down, and breaks quickly at the hole. I was mostly trying to judge speed, however my aim was good. I would putt 3 balls in succession from about 10 feet from the side of the hole. The first 2 repetitions I only made one out of three, but the misses were by less than 6 inches. Putting down hill was quite a bit tougher, JiiCljing-tileCiownliilrspeed reqiliresmore practice. - Nancy had about 2 weeks more experience than I did, about 7 weeks. -- She also spends about 15 minutes each time before we play putting on the putting green. My back does not handle extended practice. Nancy has probably knocked off about three or four strokes off her game. When she misses the problem is speed, not direction. Downhill putts are the most difficult. The majority of our greens slope downward to the front of the green, if you are above the pin, the putts are difficult. I have been using mine for about 5 weeks. I have found that you can push or pull a putt, but you have to work at it. My problem is speed. I have always putted with the idea of babying the putt in. I have to work at being a more aggressive putter. I am now confident at the 8 to 10 foot putt, where I was apprehensive about 60% of them now, where even feeling fairly confident previously I would probably before. I will make only make 25%. I am and trying the putter when I am on the fringe, or even just off the fringe, when the putt would not be overly long. In short, your Axis Putter is the best investment in golf equipment I ever made. Very truly yours, Brian B.
