a unique territory
Within a radius of just 15 km, sports
locations of worldwide renown: Riva
del Garda and Torbole sul Garda,
capitals of sailing and windsurfing;
Arco, the fatherland of climbing and
Nordic walking; but also Tenno, Dro,
Drena and Nago with footpaths, cliffs
and via ferratas. All around, a whole
network of trails for mountain-biking
and cycling, between the water and the
sky, from 65 to over 2000 m: a natural
gym where to practise all sports.
Because, if doing sports is great fun
and fills you with enthusiasm, in Garda
Trentino it becomes a unique, yet fully
repeatable experience.
nature’s excellent performances
for authentic sports-lovers
The force of water, wind and rock, 365 days a year.
The lake waters have beneficial effects on the climate, which is mild and pleasant even in winter.
The winds blow constantly throughout the year, driving skippers and surfers out onto the water.
The compact rock, with its tough cliffs, thrills the most adventurous climbers.
The rough trails, with plenty of hills, put the most audacious bikers to the test.
Sport in Garda Trentino: challenge yourself… it’s pure adrenaline!
top of the class
& in the spotlight
The grand masters of sport have put
Garda Trentino to the test, and have
passed its outdoor activities with flying colours.
Some of them have decided to settle
here to share their secrets with high
level lessons as well as hire services
for the most advanced equipment.
Particular attention to the young
champions of tomorrow, with open
air activities and special courses designed specifically for children, to enjoy sports alone or with their family.
But Garda Trentino is also famous for
its great sports events, which every
year attract professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world:
•the Tour of Trentino, the mythical cycle road race for professional international riders;
•the Sympatex Bike Festival Garda
Trentino, which kick-starts the season for all 2-wheel fans;
•the Jeantex Tour Transalp, the most
spectacular European stage race;
•the Craft Bike Transalp, the MTB
great challenge through the Alps;
• the Rock Master, one of the most
important events in the free climbing
calendar, in the build up to the 2011
World Climbing Championships;
• the International Lake Garda Marathon, which winds its way through
the most picturesque towns on the
northern shore of Lake Garda;
• the sailing and windsurfing regattas,
with world and European championships of the highest level.

X-Country
Both for professional bikers seeking
the best place for training, and for
excursionists who enjoy being in contact with nature, Garda Trentino offers
fabulous itineraries with breathtaking views and spectacular mountains
all waiting to be explored, such as
the Baldo and Monte Velo. Old mule
tracks, military routes, forest paths
and mountain refuges will take you
into another dimension, far from the
chaos of traffic and the stress of everyday life.
100% pure bike
From cross country to free riding, from road cycling
to downhill, without forgetting the easier bike
trekking: in Garda Trentino, your bike is your steed,
12 months a year. The departure points lie at 60 m
a.s.l. and reach peaks of more than 2000 m, offering
slopes and trails for all kinds of bikers, all with a high
adrenaline content. Many cycle paths offer relaxing
itineraries for cycle tourists.
All Mountain
According to all MTB experts, Garda
Trentino is one of the ideal areas where
to use the new mountain bikes, the socalled “All Mountain”. All Mountain is
an activity practised by those bikers
who love long climbs but also beautiful singletracks and the most technical descents. Even if this is not extreme biking like downhill/freeride, it is
practised by trained and experienced
bikers who want to enjoy “wow” landscapes and trails, using a proper high
quality bike.
Bike
Bike Trekking
The ideal activity for those who are not
seeking taxing routes and exhausting
climbs, but who wish to include all the
family, the children and the odd friend
who, although well-disposed, may not
be in top form. Garda Trentino is the
right place in which to enjoy a fabulous, healthy, interesting and exhilarating day dedicated to cycling, experience nature, meet people, savour the
local flavours and get a bit of exercise.
Freeride/Downhill
Garda Trentino is a favourite location
for freeriders and downhillers from all
over the world: challenging paths, immersed in the green of nature, with
endless technical descents that start
on mountain tops at over 2000 m a.s.l.
and career down to the shores of Lake
Garda. There is a wide range of possibilities and degrees of difficulty: from
the “heavy-going” downhill/freeride,
with bike-shuttle services, to the “pedal” where the only help you are going
to get is your own legs!
road cycling
Garda Trentino is the ideal place for unforgettable moments astride the saddle,
thanks to its many itineraries and varied
roads (more than 400 km) suitable for cycle touring and road cycling, alternating
between the flat and the hilly. Champions
such as Chiappucci, Fondriest and Moser have pedalled along our roads. Many
are the ideal circuits: the famous "S. Barbara" climb, or the climbs towards Tenno
and the Passo del Ballino and the tortuous bends of Drena with the Marocche
biotope.

and Sarca Valley
• a series of natural environments: from
olive groves to pine forests, from sheer
cliffs overlooking Lake Garda to the immense rock faces of Mt. Brento
• over 50% paths and forest trails, where
mountain bike enthusiasts find constantly changing terrain and a wide
technical range
tracks:
• Taglio del Sarca: single track that
joins the unique natural environment of
the “Marocche” and the great rock faces of Mt. Brento to the thrill of weaving
in and out of bends over a terrain full of
minor obstacles; technically demanding but never dangerous
• “Olivaia” of Arco: a long stretch across
the mountainside on a dirt road or cobbled trail, with a view over the entire
Garda Trentino basin, cycling between
olive groves and limestone cliffs: in the
background is the Castle of Arco
• The mills of Tenno: single track, short
but challenging; the less experienced
are advised to dismount here. The track
leads to the valley bed of the Magnone
stream, crossed by an ancient stone
bridge
• Coste di Varino: a long stretch over
apparently flat ground among thick ilex
groves and vineyards. Don't forget to
visit the canyon of Rio Salagoni, a deep
gorge cut into the limestone walls at the
foot of the Castle of Drena, where you
will find a spectacular via ferrata
• access in Nago, from the road that
leads to Monte Baldo
• downhill route about 6,5 km long, with
a descent of 900 m
• start with a difficult stretch on earth
mixed with stones to reach a stretch of
white road
• after 700 m you reach the route proper
and a great area on fixed rock on a
slope and single track stops along the
middle stretch
• the last part of the route has really fast
stretches up to 50km/h but with 2 technical areas in the middle to slow the
pace.

100% pure climbing
For the more daring climbers, but also for
anyone, even families and kids, Garda Trentino offers more than 1000 different trails for
sports climbing. The Autonomous Province of
Trento and local authorities have had over 400
bolted climbing routes fitted out and these are
subject to periodic controls to ensure absolute safety. Not only Arco, the internationallyfamed fatherland of this sport, but also Nago,
Torbole sul Garda, Dro, Drena and Riva del
Garda offer an excellent climb over quality,
natural rock, sheer walls looking out over the
lake, and numerous via ferratas, i.e. mountain
routes with fixed cables and iron ladder paths.
In Arco, renowned throughout the world for its
many specialist sports equipment and quality
high tech clothing shops, you will find everything you need for your climbs.

notes
The Autonomous Province of Trento
equips, takes care of, and periodically
checks the climbing areas mentioned
above.
In the Garda Trentino territory there are
many other climbing areas, equipped
by experts but not officially and regularly taken care of.
It is advisable to always check the
state of the walls’ equipment before
using them.
It is advisable to always use a helmet
to protect you from injury in falls and
from falling debris.
Climbing involves certain risks and
climbers must be responsible enough to
know and respect the correct basic safety rules and use the proper safety gear.

Stage 1: Castel Drena - Arco
then on to the "Sentiero della Maestra"
trail, marked 667, which runs through
another fascinating area, the Bosco
Caproni: an area of great environmental
interest, with a wealth of historical and
cultural elements. Continuing along this
trail half way up the slopes we reach the
Dosso Grande and then descend towards Arco.
Variation in altitude: 300 m
Time: 2/3 hours
Level: easy
Stage 2: Arco - Canale di Tenno
100% pure trekking
& nordic walking
Itineraries to follow alone or with expert
guides, through the woods and along
the lake shore.
Garda Trentino is a paradise for trekking
and Nordic walking, counting on trails
with exceptional views, and footpaths
dotted with historical and artistic landmarks.
From the centre of Arco, we follow the
stations of the cross which lead through
the olive grove to the chapel of S. Maria
di Laghel (altitude 220 m). We take trail
sign 408 to the left and, after about 20
min, trail 407. At Bocca di Tovo we take
trail 409, which joins trail 401 and then
skirts Monte Calino (1069 m) with only
slight variations in altitude before arriving at the S. Pietro mountain refuge.
From here we follow trail 401 down to the
atmospheric medieval village of Canale,
with its narrow cobbled streets, porticoes and inner courtyards.
Variation in altitude: 800 m
Time: 3/5 hours
Level: average
Stage 3: Canale di Tenno - Riva del Garda
From Canale di Tenno, along trail 406 it is
just a few minutes to Lake Tenno. Turning
left here anticlockwise, we take the road
leading towards Campi (668 m). Trail 402,
which branches off to the right, leads to
Bocca di Trat at 1581 m and the Nino
Pernici mountain refuge. From here trail
413 on the left leads up to Dos dei Seaoi
(1798 m) and then continues along a
level stretch to Bocca di Saval (1720 m).
The trail now continues with only slight
changes in altitude along the top of the
rocky crests overlooking Riva del Garda,
1200 m below.
The descent, along trail 404, is strenuous
but magnificent.
Variation in altitude: 1400 m
Time: 6/7 hours
Level: advanced
Stage 4: Riva del Garda - Altissimo
We follow the footpath leading along the
shores of Lake Garda to Torbole. From
the centre of the town, we climb towards
the Parco delle Busatte. Trail no. 601
climbs gradually but steadily over the
lake and past Malga Zures near Dos dei
Frassini (707 m) and Malga Casina (930
m), before rising steeply towards Monte

The climb to the Rocca peak (Cima Rocca)
is one of the most interesting itineraries for
pundits of field fortifications built during
the war, where you can admire the breathtaking view of Lake Garda: the tunnel system “Alto Garda” on Sperone.
Starting in Biacesa, the itinerary climbs
up to the Caregna junction and then turns
onto the mule path posted as SAT No. 417
up to the small church of S. Giovanni. By
following the Rocca path you reach the entrance to the first tunnel; the tour continues
along the network of tunnels up to the path
that leads to the peak of Sperone or Cima

Tagliata del Ponale is a fortification tunnel-system consisting in a complex of corridors and trenches excavated directly
above Lake Garda in a unique panoramic
location in the years 1904-1918. It can be
reached from Riva del Garda following the
“old Ponale road”.
The undoubtedly most spectacular arte-
fact of the fortification is the long flight of
steps that descends from the third tunnel
towards lake level. The steps end a few
metres above lake level with four large apertures towards Lake Garda: two posts
opening outwards for cannons and two
observation posts. The rock complex is

The winds that blow regular make every day the perfect
day for a trip out in a boat or with the windsurf. The waves,
never overly large, are suited to both experts and beginners. Lake Garda is renowned as one of the best Italian
regatta locations, and is as good as any of the great international circuits. Riva del Garda, but above all Torbole sul
Garda, are the most famous locations for “riding down the
wind”, also thanks to the quality services available, with
schools and equipment hire of the highest quality. Great
attention is paid to safety, which is assured by an efficient

Do you need powerful emotions? If so, Garda Trentino is
perfect for you: throw yourself headfirst into the torrents
which descend from the mountains towards the lake. Do it,
but together with a guide from the canyoning centres, which
organize daily trips during the nice season. Canyoning is
possible on Lake Garda and also in the Ledro Valley. The
routes are only known to few people because the guides
are possessive over them! Put on a wetsuit, a helmet and a
harness, and brave the fast Trentino torrents which are immersed within the woods, flowing between rocks to meet
small lakes unknown even to those who live here.

When the lake is calm, you can enjoy the
