President’s Message
“
Hi everyone, and as both the AJS Scholarship program for 12-13 and
the weather seems to be warming up, it has been quite a busy year
again with many new AJS friends and experiences.
Just one matter that I will touch on briefly and use up my valuable
message space was being misunderstood as ‘saying and doing’
something I just did not and because my response posted back on the
Japanese website was quickly taken down, I will post it here instead(
“Dear Japanese community of Cairns, your combined contribution to the Cairns Festival with the Japanese Omikoshi Parade
entry was fantastic and I have only ever praised you for the amazing effort. The AJS FNQ volunteers that were in support of your event were proud to be involved and I
also appreciate the thoughtful few Japanese people that said a personal thank you to the AJS FNQ
and myself for the small support and contribution”.
Moving on to other AJS matters, the recent Film Night was another success and I hope every enjoyed the
anime movie “Arietty” as I did and I thought the cat was great character. ☺
Well as another President’s year draws to a close, I would like to thank the dedicated committee team that
helped again to keep the AJS active and alive for another year. The hard working committee need to be commended for their continued unselfish support. Thank you personally from me.
Finally today, most will be aware that this is the 30th Year Anniversary of the AJS FNQ and Makoto and I have
been trying to develop the ‘History’ tab and information on the website. Please if anyone reading this has any
AJS pre-year 2000 or more that 10-12 years ago, memories, memorabilia or photographs, we would appreciate you sharing these with us for possible use on the website. So until we meet again, “Arrigato” Jeff Haynes
