THE BLU WAVE STORY
Canada’s leading designer and manufacturer of stand-up paddleboards,
Blu Wave SUP was established in 2010 by avid traveler, paddler and surfer,
Aaron Pilon, in Toronto, Canada.
Blu Wave was conceived after Aaron discovered the sport on a trip to a
surf town on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Aaron recognized an opportunity
to bring a surfing experience to the many lakes of Canada through this
emerging water sport which combined two of his favorite activities, surfing
and paddling. The smaller cottage country lakes of Ontario offer a great
venue for flat water paddling, a zen like activity that offers a tremendous
fitness benefit. Order up the right wind direction and intensity, and
the Great Lakes can provide some pretty sweet waves and a surfing
experience right in our own backyard.
Blu Wave’s mission is to design and manufacture quality boards in
shapes that provide optimal paddling in a variety of conditions that
we find at home here in Canada. From our Wave Series, designed to
surf the smaller waves of the Great Lakes or ocean breaks in Tofino
or Lawrencetown, to our Touring Series boards, designed for flat water
touring on glassy smaller inland lakes in Muskoka, The Laurentians and
the BC Interior, each of our boards are “designed in Canada, for Canadian
waters”. We use quality fibres and epoxy resins to provide a durable product,
in an attractive package. Our Epoxy Bamboo Construction produces strong boards
at a strength to weight ratio unrivaled in the industry. Our use of bamboo, recognizes
the need to use natural, renewable materials in manufacturing. A leader in design and

Shapers Notes: At home in waves of all sizes, this
surf specific SUP with its pointed piercing nose
and swallow tail provides great acceleration off
the top and enhanced carving ability. Beginners
up to 130 lbs or expert SUP surfers up to 200 lbs.
THE WAVE RIDER PRO 9.6
Another addition to our Wave Rider Pro line, the
8.6 has a wider outline and thicker rails than the
8.0 and 9.6, providing ample volume and stabilty
for an intermediate to advanced SUP surfer.
Provides enough stability for wind generated
Lake surf and with its responsive swallow tail and
aggressive rail profile, is a standout in clean ocean
conditions of all sizes. Available in “Woody” Edition
using our epoxy bamboo sandwich construction
(“EBS”) and new for 2016, now available in our
signature Carbon-Innegra construction in the Pro
Elite version.
The Wave Rider Pro is Blu Wave’s performance
wave board. At home in waves of all sizes,
this surf specific SUP with its pointed nose and
swallow tail provides great acceleration and wave
catching ease. At 9’6” in length, with a narrow
profile, this thing is a speed machine, and a
nimble board for its length. Available in “Woody”
Edition and high gloss paint finish, both using our
epoxy bamboo sandwich construction (“EBS”).
A perfect transition wave specific board for a
smaller paddler, or a high performance shredder
for a larger experienced SUP surfer.
Shapers Notes: Generous mid section rail volume
and width provide increased stability. Tapered
nose and tail rails maintain responsiveness

The Wave Rider Pro 8.0 brings a high performance wave riding machine to complement our
larger Wave Rider Pro 9.6. With similar shaping
characteristics as the 9.6, the 8.0 provides
enhanced carving and turning ability in a shorter,
lower volume board. Designed for the SUP surfer
that is graduating from a larger SUP surfing board
to an ultra-light low volume carver. Available
only in “Woody” Edition using our epoxy bamboo
sandwich construction (“EBS”).

Our Wave Rider line of all round epoxy bamboo sandwich
construction (EBS) SUPs, the Wave Rider 10.6 and 11.6 are
great all round boards for flat water paddling, fitness, yoga or
small waves. Multiple tie down points on the deck provide
attachment points for gear for day cruising, or tie downs for
fitness attachments. The all round shape is forgiving and will
provide ample stability for beginners.

Rider and Woody Series all-rounders, the The Retro is a
throwback to our original Woody models that launched our
SUP line back in 2010. Constructed using our durable molded
Epoxy Bamboo Sandwich construction (EBS), the Retro is
fashioned after the longboard surfboards of the 60s and 70s
with bold striping and a glossy white rail finish, the Retro will
standout on your cottage lake, on your boathouse wall, or
in your local line-up. The Retro is fitted out with a diamond
groove deck pad with tail kick-pad, and bungee tie-downs,
making it equally suited for surfing waves, or touring your

THE EASY RIDER 11.6
The kids want to paddle too! The Mini Rider is soft-top
SUP board designed to introduce the world of SUP
to kids age 4-11. Designed with durability in mind, our
Soft-tech construction utilizes materials to extend the
life of the board and withstand lots of wear and tear
that those mini SUPers can give. The soft-top EVA
deck also provides protection against falls on the board
by your little SUPer.

Shapers Notes: A mini version of the Easy Rider, made
for flat water paddling and fun in the waves, the Mini
Rider is ideal for kids up to 110 lbs.
Constructed using Blu Wave’s molded soft-tech
construction, the Easy Rider is an entry level SUP
Board designed for everyone in the family to enjoy and
get started with stand-up paddleboarding. Extremely
stable, the Easy Rider is also ideal for fitness/yoga
enthusiasts, instructional programs, rental fleets and
resorts. Our ultra tough textured EVA rails, foam top
and polycarbonate bottom, provide essential protection and durability where it is needed most.

construction, the Easy Rider Karma adds a soft top
board to our line, designed for the smaller paddler
and for paddle fitness and YOGA activities. Multi tie
down points provides for securing your paddle, pfd
and our nose attachment allows for rafting of boards.
At 31” wide, the Karma model provides ample stability
for yoga, coupled with its light weight soft-tech
construction, we have responsive and versatile board
at a entry level price. Our ultra tough textured EVA rails,

NEW FOR 2016! The Catalina 14.0 EXP or
EXPEDITION Edition, is a revolutionary new
design intended to expand the possibilities of
SUP touring. The first of its kind in the industry,
the Catalina 14.0 EXP has a built in storage hatch
infront of the standing area to provide increased
gear stowage, while at the same time lowering
the centre of gravity of a fully loaded SUP. We’ve
outfitted the EXP with multiple deck attachments
for GoPro cameras, GPS and navigational lighting,
along with external handles on the rails, nose and
tail for easy carrying.

14.0 with displacement nose and ample volume to

Inspired in name and function by the grouping of islands off the coast of the
Bruce Peninsula (Fathom Five Marine Park) in beautiful Georgian Bay, the
Fathom line of touring boards bring a high performance touring board to the Blu
Wave line. In the Fathom we set out to create a board for someone looking for
high performance and functionality in the same package. Outfitted with deck
tie downs for gear stowage, and dual GoPro mounts for action camera or GPS
mounting, the Fathom has it all for a leisurely paddle up the lake or an overnight
adventure, with the speed and performance to shine at your Thursday night
racing series. The Fathom boards are constructed with our all new InnegraCarbon weave, which provides enhanced durability in a light weight performance
machine.
Shapers Notes: Piercing nose inspired by the “voyager” canoes of yesteryear
glides through the water effortlessly. The convex deck towards the nose of the
board sheds water and the recessed standing area lowers the paddler’s centre

THE CARBON RACE 12.6/14.0 & 12.6/14.0 PRO ELITE
RE-DESIGNED FOR 2016! The Carbon Race 12.6 and 14.0 are made for speed – pure and simple. For 2016 we
have overhauled the shape of our winning design, and introduced two different widths in each length – 12’6”
x 25”, 12’6” x 27”, 14’ x 24” and 14’ x 27”. In the 27” versions we’ve created a more stable board that will excel
in a variety of conditions, including waves and will be ideal for downwinding and racing in various conditions.
Increased tail width and volume ads to the stability for downwinding and open water racing. Fibreglass and
Carbon layers, with Kevlar edge reinforcements yield a light weight board with far greater durability than full
carbon constructed race boards.
The 25” and 24” models in the 12.6 and 14.0 add a flat water specific speed machine to our Race Series, under
the Pro Elite badge. Constructed with our biaxial carbon construction with re-enforcement layers of Kevlar
in impact and standing areas (rails and edges), the new Carbon Race Pro Elite models are light weight speed
machines. Advanced and expert riders will feel ample stability despite the narrow profile, due to the slight
concave bottom shape.
Shapers Notes: With distinct piercing reverse entry nose, the board cuts through the water like a knife and
convex deck shape sheds water to minimize water washing over the standing area. A wider and thicker tail than
the 2015 versions, and more pronounced V bottom through back third of the board releases water effortlessly
and assists in directional efficiency. A moderate rocker line, prevents pearling in chop or while downwinding,
and promotes planing when at race speeds.

NEW FOR 2016! The Allsport iSUP 10.10 is the swiss army
knife of inflatable SUPs. Designed as an all round inflatable
for recreational paddling, touring and fun in the waves, the
Allsport’s shape is a hybrid of a traditional surf style SUP
and longer/narrower touring inflatables. The Allsport takes
is width from our Wave Rider series of all round boards, at
31” - wide enough to provide ample stability for a beginner,
yet narrow enough to provide great tracking. In the nose, we
have a slightly pointed entry with mild rocker line to reduce
plowing when paddling into chop or small waves. A single

Catalina iSUP 12.6 brings a touring inflatable SUP to our line.
Constructed using heavy duty double layer PVC drop-stitch
construction, the Catalina iSUP provides maximum durability,
portability and rigid board performance in a touring
inflatable, suitable for rivers, flat water or even small waves.
