F
or the first time, Inside Lacrosse
has identified the best of the best
by ranking the Top 25 women’s
players entering the college
ranks this year. Although perhaps lacking in depth top to bottom, the Class of
2007 features some promising players
that will be sure to impress in the coming years.
Our rankings do not necessarily take
into account how polished they are
when arriving on campus this fall. Our
focus is on just how each player’s athletic ability projects into performance
over the next few years in college. Given
a little time, and coaching, these players
will become tomorrow’s stars.
1. Shaylyn Blaney
Midfield
Notre Dame; Ward Melville, NY
The total package. A superior athlete
who plays hard on both ends of the field,
Blaney combines innate game sense
and polished stick skills with a hypercompetitive intensity.

(captain of the U.S. Under-19 squad).
She’ll make an immediate impact for
the Blue Devils.
Defense
North Carolina; Moorestown, NJ
The most complete defender entering
the college ranks this year. Chumney is
a versatile athlete who already understands the value of communication on
the field. In time, she should develop
into the anchor of the Tar Heels’ defense.

the system, Miller has the potential to become a
force in the Blue Devils’ lineup.
Speed
10. Allie Hubschmann
Attack
Georgetown; Oak Knoll, NJ
Sidelined by a knee injury during her junior campaign, Hubschmann put to rest any questions of her
fitness with a fantastic senior year. The dodging attacker is primed to star in the college game.

11. Molly Everett
Midfield/Defense
Virginia; Upper Arlington, OH
An ideal mix of size (5-foot-10) and athleticism gives
Everett the profile of an outstanding college defender.
She will help boost the Cavaliers as they look to take
the next step toward another national crown.
Size
12. Laura Lesnick
Midfield
Penn State; North Harford, MD
Identified as the “sleeper” in the class by several college coaches, Lesnick could develop into a real difference maker for Penn State. Her skill set translates

Speed

Georgetown; Bryn Mawr, MD
A pure playmaker who always thinks of the team
first. Combines extraordinary quickness with a

a team defensive scheme. Downs uses strength, speed
and smarts to shut down opposing attackers.
Defensive Checking
16. Corey Donohoe
Attack
North Carolina; North Harford, MD
Donohoe is a bit unconventional in style, but she can catch
anything and will quickly find the back of the net. Scoring five times in the Under Armour All-America Classic
earned her MVP honors and made a bold statement about
her ability to excel against the best competition.
Stick Skills
17. Mia Hurrin
Midfield
North Carolina; St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes, VA
Hurrin has a college-ready game with tight stickwork

Stick Skills
18. Colleen Bubnack
Midfield
Colgate; West Genesee, NY
It’s hard to believe that the best all-around player on
the nation’s top high school team flew under the recruiting radar. Bubnack is a huge get for Colgate. She is
the type of player whose speed and playmaking skills
make those around her better.
