Renowned singer/songwriter and “Empress of the Unexpected”
(NPR), Susan Werner helps Unison kick off its Spring 2015 season.
Critics across the board agree: “when it comes to crafting a song, Ms.
Werner’s only peers are Jimmy Webb and Paul Simon.”
World-renowned jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli (Frank Sinatra,
Benny Goodman, Rosemary Clooney) has been performing with his
former student Ed Laub for the past 12 years. As a duo they have
performed all over the US and Canada. We are thrilled they have
made room in their busy schedule to appear at Unison.
Fedoras, vaudeville, and washboards: The Wiyos transport us back
to the 1920s and 30s by inviting kids and adults alike to holler, stomp
and sing along to old time American folk music. Featuring an array of
colorful instruments, including a harmonica, washboard and kazoo.
Now something for the adults: The Wiyos were one of the original
‘old timey’ bands to emerge on the national scene in the first wave
of acoustic bands riding the renewed popularity of early swing
jazz, rural folk, old time blues and Appalachian music. Chronogram
Magazine calls The Wiyos, “A surreal Americana opus—Big Pink
meets Pink Floyd.”
The Claire Lynch Band: The reigning “International Bluegrass
Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year” thanks to her
angelic and heavenly vocals, will appear in concert with one of
the best Bluegrass bands anywhere, with the great Mark Schatz
on Upright Bass.

Kim and Reggie Harris are dynamic and supremely talented
traditional folk performers whose captivating stage presence and
unique harmonies have earned the respect and love of audiences
throughout the US, Canada and Europe for over 30 years.

Harpist Lynn Saoirse and cellist Abby Newton will be joined
by Steve Stanne (and special surprise guests) for a concert of
enchanting melodies, foot-tapping traditional tunes and compelling
contemporary compositions in the Celtic folk tradition.

A Tango demonstration/lesson by the amazing Nina Jirka, former
star of the Moscow Festival Ballet, Perm Opera, Kremlin Ballet, and Stars
of Bolshoi, will be followed by an afternoon of tango and swing
dance. Musical accompaniment by the Bernstein Bard Quartet.
FIFTH FRIDAY DANCE:
CRAZY FEET
Fifth Friday Dance with Crazy Feet. This hot swing dance band
will return to Unison for an evening of East and West Coast Swing,
Motown and good old rockin’ blues. Dance lesson at 7:30.

Rene Izquierdo and Carlo Aonzo: Cuban-American guitarist Rene
Izquierdo and Italian mandolinist Carlo Aonzo will delight audiences
with an evening of classical music.

Kristin Hoffmann
Premik Russell Tubbs and vocalist Kristin Hoffmann. Premik, who
has worked with everyone from Sting to Ornette Coleman to Ravi
Shankar, will share the stage with vocalist Kristin Hoffman, whose
voice is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell one moment, and Pat Benatar
the next.

The Nathans will celebrate the release of their new collaborative
