Our Schools
The Downingtown Area School District (DASD) offers a variety of options for families in its 16 outstanding schools. The
district is located in beautiful and historic Chester County in southeastern Pennsylvania. The district’s 82 square miles
includes the Borough of Downingtown and the townships of East Brandywine, East Caln, Upper Uwchlan, Uwchlan,
Wallace, West Bradford and West Pikeland.
DASD is comprised of ten elementary schools (K-5), one sixth grade center, two middle schools (7-8 grades), two high
schools (9-12 grades) and the STEM Academy (9-12 grades). There are currently over 12,000 students enrolled in the
district. DASD student achievement is consistently among the highest in the state with a 95 percent graduation rate.
Students are regularly awarded national merit scholarships and receive national advanced placement scholar awards.
In addition, DASD has a strong arts program, offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities and students have
placed in local, state and national competitions. The District’s student athletes are among the best in the state,
winning state and national championships.

Salary & Benefits
The Downingtown Area School District Board of School Directors offers a regionally competitive salary,
comprehensive benefits and a multiyear contract. Actual salary is subject to negotiation and based upon
qualifications and experience.

Selection Process
The Downingtown Area School District of School Board Directors will conduct final candidate interviews
in January 1, 2017. The anticipated date of employment is July 1, 2017.

Board of School Directors
The Board of School Directors of the Downingtown Area School District consists of nine
members, each elected for a four-year term of office. Board members are elected by the
community and volunteer their time and talents, serving the district without pay. The
primary function of the Board is formulating and evaluating all policies necessary for the
operation of the school district.
