I would like to thank everyone who came out to the 2nd Annual
Hobbies for Hospice Event. I am proud to announce that with your
help we raised and will be donating $2921.00 to Hospice of Dayton.
It would be nice if I could personally thank each and every person
who came out and helped make this event a huge success but the
day is still kind of a blur and I am not sure if I was even there let
alone remember who was all there helping out. So thanks to everyone from the people who showed up early to set up the train layout
to the people who showed up and purchased a hamburger – all your
efforts and donations are greatly appreciated.

August Meeting Minutes
8/2/2012, Wingmsters Flying Field, 7:30 PM
Attended by 29 members
and
1 guest
Field Report :
Thanks primarily to Bob Clark most of the shrubbery has been removed from the tree line on the east end of the
field.
The work of dropping trees will be scheduled as soon as the weather cools a bit.
The fence extension is still scheduled but due to the heat and soil condition will probably not be completed prior
to the Hobbies for Hospice event.
As usual the Mud Vollleyball group left that area of the field in poor shape, but their equipment is gone and there
is not a lot of trash laying around. On a side note there will be no Mud Run event this year.
The porta-pot is still being left unlocked at the end of the day. Also the front gate and the electric box. If you
are one of the last Wingmaster member to leave the field, please take the time to make sure each of these items
are secure.
Old Business :
Attendance at the monthly Night Fly event continues to grow. Remember, it happens the second Wednesday of
each month after the Instructor night duties are done. We have one more events remaining for this year.
New Business :
Thanks to the efforts of Romy Schweiterman, Jerry Humston & Jon Cross, the new "Rules"
sign has been mounted in the shelter. Also, Joe Saylor obtained the plastic covering to protect
the sign from vandalism.
Because of other commitments, Jon Cross is no longer able to continue his duties with the
newsletter and. Jerry Humston has agreed to assume those duties until we hold our next round
of elections. Thanks to Jon for setting the bar for our products and to Jerry for so willingly
stepping in when the need became apparent.
$25.00 Gift Certificate Winners:
No Drawing this Month
Meeting Closed at approximately 8:10 PM.

Happy August Everyone, personally for me August has been a crazy month. I attended two
birthday parties in Columbus for two grandchildren on two separate weekends, I manned the
cooking duties for out annual cooking contest at work; I cooked a Cajun Shrimp Boil by serving
30 lbs of potatoes, 80 eighty ears of corn, 15 lbs of Kabasa Sausage and approximately 500
Shrimp. To give it a Cajun kick, I mixed two pounds of a Cajun Spice Boil called “Smack YA
Momma”! I’m pleased to announce it took first place
However the big event that’s been out there was Hobbies for Hospice.
I’m pleased to report that on August 25th, the event raised $2,921.00. It was a well attended
event with approximately 40 pilots registered to fly. Numerous non-flyers were on hand to enjoy the action. We had a good mix of Giant Scale, Helicopters and Sport Planes. We had a
number of pilots putting on demonstrations that were outstanding. Through the generous donations of companies and individuals, we had a large stockpile of nice raffle prizes. The Miami
Valley Garden Railroad Society had an awesome G Scale railroad on display and helped with
numerous duties.
The list of everyone who helped is long and I’m confident that I will miss someone. However I
want to first thank the good people at George’s Family Restaurant who provided all of the food.
Stop in and have lunch or dinner and thank them for their kindness. Big Mike’s BBQ handled
food prep and its serving. The wonderful people from MVGRS manned the raffle booth and did
a wonderful job. I should also mention that they handled the packaging of the merchandise and
it went extremely well.
I want to also thank the CD’s on this event Joe Saylor and Jerry Humston, job well done guys.
Ken Eubanks, Romey Schweiterman assisted with numerous duties, I’m confident I’ve missed
some people, if so I apologize. Thanks again to everyone who helped, flew and those of you
that just attended, you helped make this special event a success.
I want to make everyone aware of some upcoming events. The DOGS show is this Labor Day
Weekend located behind the AF Museum. Our meeting at the field is scheduled for September
6th at 7:30. After training night on the 12th we’ll stick around for some night flying and on the
14th and 15th, the field is closed to fixed wing for Santiago’s Heli Fun Fly. This is an outstanding event to check out and a great money maker for the club.
Finally on September 30th, it’s the annual President’s Fun Fly. I’ll be serving up a full Steak
Dinner for you and your spouse or guest. You’ll need to RSVP by e-mailing me at
[email protected] . Of course we’ll have a full day of flying. Please note this will be
our last meeting of the year at the field. I’m anticipating that we’ll meet in October at the Fairgrounds, more to follow. Take care everyone and I’ll catch you at the field!

September 12th Night Fly
This will be the last scheduled night fly for 2012 so don’t miss out on another great time.
So light up a plane or helicopter and come out and join in on the food and fun as we try to keep
track of our birds as they float around the dark skies.
We are always looking for articles to publish in the TAILSPINS Newsletter.
