Secondary Section) Second Edition 2015-16 ACTIVITIES IN THE SCHOOL FOR TEACHERS AND PARENTS Seminar was conducted by Mr.Jignesh Sanghvi for STD 8th parents on 9th December and STD 9th students on 28th April on study habits. P.T.A meetings were conducted for the parents by the principal Mrs. UMA CHAUDHARY and English teachers of STD 5th to 7th from 1st to 6th April 2016. This was conducted to seek approval of the parents regarding change in the English grammar text books according to the CCE pattern. They were also explained about the importance of learning correct grammar through a slide show. This year NIE conducted spell bee contest in our school to develop interest in vocabulary and reading. SEMINARS/TRAINING ATTENDED BY TEACHERS As a part of nature club four teachers from English medium went to watch the pre screening of the movie named “SHORTCUT SAFARI “, the theme was “SAVE WILD LIFE “ on 26th April. Mrs. Minal Mehta attended a seminar on online assessment and introduction to educational field trips conducted at SNDT College on 2nd March 2016. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS 0n 13th April seminar was conducted by Mr. Paresh for STD 9th students on effective study habits o prepare themselves for STD 10 board exams. On 21st march there was a seminar on waste management by Mr. Joshi for 9th STD students. VISIT/CAMPS/EXHIBITION. This year the students of 5th to 9th had gone for a long tour to Hyderabad from 6th Feb. to 11th Feb. to Hyderabad. They visited the historical Golconda fort, Ramoji film city, and vintage car museum and snow world. “He Named Me Malala” is an intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban. After the Taliban tries to kill her for speaking out on behalf of girl’s education, Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai emerges as a leading advocate for children's rights and the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize Laureate. The students of AABVV were taken at SION PVR for the screening of the movie. The students of STD 5th to 9th went to Chinchni for a camp from 7th to 11th February. They visited beach and participated in various adventurous and creative activities. Students of our school participated in the junior and senior ward level exhibitions from 8th December to 11th December. Sports day was conducted on 17th December 2016 where many events like 100 m race, three legged race etc were organized. Christmas Party was celebrated on 23rd December with grand fervor. Prize distribution for various school activities was organized on 4th March. Approximately more than 300 students received certificates and trophies from the chief guest Dr. Shraddha Gandhi. Farewell party for 10th STD students hosted by STD 9 students on 15th February was a grand success with full of joy, entertainment, fun and frolic. . FESTO MANIA 2015-2016 FESTO MANIA 2015-2016 was enthusiasm and patriotism on 26 celebrated th th and 27 with great January. It was indeed a great display of talents. Students from V to IX exhibited different models, charts, speech and food related to the festival. Each and every class was decorated and students also presented skits and dances. People visited the school in large numbers and appreciated the ideas of the students as well as teachers. On the second day of the exhibition an entertainment programme was held in the school hall. Students performed on different songs, had a fashion show.’ There was also an exhibition held in the Home Science Room where students prepared different food items and also displayed various handmade articles and craft items made from waste. These were also available for sale. COMPETITIONS/EXAMS/ACTIVITIES. Baseline test for STD 5th-8th was conducted in English and Maths, according to the rules and regulations of Maharashtra state board on 5th and 6th April respectively. There was a dental check up conducted ex-student of A.A.B.V.V English Medium Secondary Dr. Shraddha Gandhi on 12th December for all students of 5th to 9th, teachers and staff. ART In the NIE competition, Harsh Gada of 9th B won consolation price. In the Vana Mohotsav drawing competition conducted by SIWS, Dev Mehta of 9th B, got first prize and Srushti Mehta of 10th A won second prize in the photography competition. In the Camlin drawing competition the following students won prices. 1. 5th to 7th : Priyanka Kamble, Khushi Parekh, Tisha Haria 2. 8th to 10th : Krina Satra, Moksha Mehta, Moksha Shah National level handwriting and coloring competition conducted by Kalabharti Child Art and Development Institute, Krina Gada and Akshat Vikmani won prizes. In Matunga Gujrati Seva Mandal, Ayush Malde won 2nd prize, Fahad Kagdi won 3rd prize and Harsh Gada won consolation. OLYMPIADS 33 students from STD 5th- 8th appeared for science Olympiad (NSO) out of which 3 was gold medalist (JETHVA YASHVI, SHAH SHRUT AND GALA MAHEK), 1 silver and 1 bronze. 43 students appeared for IMO out of which 3 won gold medals (SONI HARSHIL, SHAH SHRUT AND SHAH GAUTAM), 3 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. Every student received certificate. 35 students from 5th to 8th appeared for IEO out of which 3 won gold medals(PARIKH AASTHA, PATEL PRATITI AND GALA MAHEK) 3 won silver medal and 3 won bronze medals . Every student got certificates. SCIENCE Seniors project titled “TO STUDY THE EFFECT OF URBANIZATIONON LOCAL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND PARAMETERS LIKE RAINFALL, TEMPERATURE, ETC “was sent to various interschool events. The students of std 9th participated in this project under the guidance of their teachers Ms. Anna Adeline & Ms. Arul Roseline Mary Their achievements are as follows:1) Participated in ward level 2) National children’s science congress Selected for district level and pre-state level 3) Participated in science exhibition at Shishu Vihar, Dadar. Junior’s project title “TO STUDY HOW THE CHANGING ABIOTIC FACTORS OF ECO SYSTEM ARE EFECTING SOME VEGETABLE PLANTS IN INDOOR CONDITION “was sent to various school events under the guidance of their teachers Mrs. Ajita Banerjee and Miss. Sandhya Mane. Their achievements are:National children’s science congress Selected for district level Selected for state level Participated in science exhibition at Shishu Vihar Dadar Another junior level project titled ‘RECYCLING KITCHEN WASTE WATER {ORTS FILTERATION} WAS SENT TO WARD LEVEL UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF Mr. Manish Bhaskare & Ms Sandhya Mane Students participated in AQUA REPUBLICA UNEP-DHI ECOCHALLEMGE 2016. Global gaming sessions were conducted from 15th to 18th February. She was also appointed as a judge for KAVYA SADHARIKARAN at Don Bosco school where children of F/NORTH WARD PRESENTED POEMS ON FAMOUS MARATHI poets Kusumagraj and Mangesh Padgaokar. Mrs. Neelam Mishra WAS FELICITATED On 8th March- women’s day by K.C. College and she participated in the Kavayatri Sammelan there. Our school received a certificate of appreciation from centre on water and envirounment- UNEP DHI for participation in AQUA REPUBLICA UNEP-DHI ECOCHALLEMGE 2016. UNIQUE PROJECTS The GKM Management has started the GKM’s Centre Academy of Performing Arts to promote budding talents in the field of dance and drama. Students of AABVV English and Gujarati medium performed a short skit based on life if Narshi Mehta on 4th February. A dance-drama based on birth of Lord Mahavira was staged in the Samtabai hall on 19th April, Saturday, at 7.00 P.M. This drama was presented by children from the Kala Kendra and the title was Mahavir Janam Abhishek. It was choreographed by Mrs. Jayashree Rajagopal. The Chief Guest was Kamlesh Moke, famous personality in Gujarati Drama. New subject V1 was introduced with four subjects 1) Energy and environment 2) Technical 3) Home science 4) Gardening The sessions were conducted every Friday from 10.30am to 1.00pm At the end of the sessions exams were conducted for each subject. SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS Krupesh Cheeda of 10th B, Mihir Pasad of 10th A, Nisarg Meet of 10th A and Vinit Gala of 10th A participated in state level yoga competition conducted on 2nd to 4th October. Ronak Haria participated in state level volleyball under 17. Under 16 Boys reached Harris Shield Semi-final and under 14 reached Giles Shield semi-final conducted by M.S.S.A. Under 14 cricket students won first prize in Palghar Dhanu Taluka Cricket Tournament 15-16. Aryan Chitroda, Raj Asha, Arnav Khatri of 9th A and Samkit Shah of 10th A were selected for MCA(under 16) Harsh Gandhi of 8th A was selected in Kalpesh Koli Tournament 2015-2016. ACHIEVEMENTS OF OUR PRINCIPAL: OUR SOURCE OF INSPIRATION- OUR PRINCIPAL Our principal Mrs. Uma Chaudhary delivered a lecture on population education during staff training programme at Kendriya Vidyalaya. She attended the international conference for principals at IIT –Delhi from 26th to 30th November on NEW TRENDS IN EDUCATION. Our principal Mrs. Uma chaudhary principal’s meet conducted by NIE on 22nd march.
