INSIDE THIS ISSUE: 2009 Treas2 urer’s Report New Fall Con! 2 Website Update 2 Troops for Troops 3 Website Update 3 Gaming Opportunities 4 We are looking for volunteers to help run Luther Con in October. We are looking for this to be a local area convention, the goal is to get more exposure to High School age students and bring them into the hobby. This should also help to slowly increase attendance at Little Wars. Another initiative is Troops for Troops, but since this was something started by Kevin, I will let him talk about this more later. The new National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center at Patriot Park, Columbus Georgia, will honor the legacy of the United States Infantry. The museum’s galleries will trace infantry history from colonial times to the present and will feature interactive and immersive exhibits to enhance the visitors experience. The focus of the educational effort will be to teach history, as the history of the U.S. Army Infantry parallels the history of our country. In addition to the 190,000 square foot museum, there will be a five acre parade field for infantry and basic training graduations and change of command ceremonies. A Walk 2 0 0 9 by Jeff Cohen the few remaining landing craft from WWII. They also have many events during the year. A recreated WWII era Company Street, featuring the headquarters and sleeping quarters used by General George S. Patton in 1941 will take visitors back to the scenes of our country's largest wartime buildup. The facility will also include a 3-D IMAX theater, restaurant and museum store. If you are looking for some places closer to home there is always Cantigny, home of the 1st Infantry Division museum, located in Wheaton Illinois.
