Both the Grade 3 and 6 students of the Sathya
Sai School have participated in these provincewide exams for the past four years. The top
results the students have been scoring are a
testimonial to the school’s mission of Human
Excellence, achieved through balancing academic excellence with character development.
Congratulations to school community
This top rating of the students has been
achieved with the hard work of the teachers,
volunteers, principal, and parents – all forming
a team to support the learning of the students
from Junior Kindergarten up till Grade 3 & 6.
We especially congratulation Miss Tanushree
Das, Grade 3 teacher, and Mrs. Geeta
Raman and Mrs. Ahalya Ganesh, Grade 6
teachers, for preparing the students so well
during the 2008-2009 academic year.
The 2009-2010 EQAO exams will take place
in early June 2010. We know that the Grade 3
and Grade 6 students have been studying hard
and will begin to prepare even more earnestly
after the March break.
We wish all these students much good luck!
Coming soon…
Special Edition: Tenth
Anniversary Celebrations
Newsletter
The transforming nature of SSEHV
These results came right after the Character
Education Seminar hosted by the school on
March 4th, during which both Mrs. Carole
Alderman and Dr. Pal Dhall stressed the
transforming nature of the Sathya Sai
Education in Human Values (SSEHV)
program. They stated that the academic
performance of students in both the U.K. and
Australia was tremendously boosted by the
SSEHV program.
We are so grateful to the school’s Founder
Sathya Sai Baba for giving the world this
excellent educational program. It is truly
fostering human excellence among students
who are being trained in this system.
Please be on the lookout for
the school’s Special Edition:
Tenth Anniversary Celebrations Newsletter, which will be
available after the March
Break.

Open House:
March 31, 2010
New Admissions for Sep 2010
Founded by Universal Teacher Sri Sathya Sai
Baba, the Sathya Sai School of Canada
balances academic excellence with character
education. It is a unique private school that
is open to everyone, regardless of their social,
religious, cultural, ethnic or economic
background.
and bring it filled out to the Open House.
Parents with completed forms can seek their
interview appointment at our Priority Desk,
at the conclusion of the Open House
presentation.
Admission to the Sathya Sai School involves
student testing and parent interviews and
these will be concluded in mid April for the
academic year starting in September 2010.
Every year, a waitlist is created based on the
results of the performance tests and is used to
fill vacancies as they arise.
Each year, all candidates must apply afresh.
Even those who are reapplying for admission
must come on the day of the Open House to
make a fresh appointment for their child’s
testing & parents’ interview We do not carry
forward old records and/or test/interview
results.
While we encourage older applicants to come
to the Open House along with their parents,
families with younger children are advised to
make suitable baby-sitting arrangements,
wherever possible, for their little ones, and
come by themselves, so that they may attend
the session uninterrupted.
The school will hold its annual Open House
at 7 PM on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at
the school gym. Attending this event is
mandatory for those seeking admission to
the Sathya Sai School for the academic year
starting September 2010 and for anyone
who would like to acquaint themselves with
the vision and mission of the school.
Twenty students will be accepted in the
Junior Kindergarten program. Children
born in the year 2006 are eligible to apply
for JK admission.
Parents as Partners
Our school climate encourages the partnership
between the teachers and
parents. Earlier in the
school year, Grade 3 & 6
parents
attended
an
information
session
regarding the provincial
EQAO exams that their
children
will
be
participating in this year.
In order to keep the parents on the same page,
the Grade 3 teacher Miss Das and Grade 6
teacher Mrs. Ganesh presented tips on how
we can all work together to help our students
achieve their academic goals. Most of the
Application forms are available on our
information presented had been sourced from
website www.sathyasaischool.ca. We request
various educational researches and modified to
all interested parties to download the form
suit our learning environment.

Applications will also be accepted for
admission to Senior Kindergarten and
Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 against possible
vacancies in those Grades.

anagrams and cryptograms designed
especially for children. Flash cards are
good, too, and they're easy to make at
home.
It is useful and pertinent for parents of
students in all grades, not just the EQAO
classes.
The following continues some of the selected
tips that you may find useful:
Tips on Learning…
Help your child
learn to write
better – continued
•
•
•
Brainstorm. Talk with your child as much
as possible about his/her impressions of
school and his/her observations and
encourage the child to describe people and
events to you. If the child's description is
especially accurate and colorful, encourage
them to notice those details that that they
will be carried over in their writing.
Encourage keeping a journal. This is
excellent writing practice as well as a good
outlet for venting feelings. Encourage your
child to write about things that happen at
home and school, about people (s)he likes
or dislikes and why, things to remember or
things the child wants to do.
Especially encourage your child to write
about personal feelings-pleasures as well
as disappointments. If the child wants to
share the journal with you, read the entries
and discuss them-especially the child's
ideas and perceptions.
•
Write together. Have your child help you
with letters, even such routine ones as
ordering items from an advertisement or
writing to a business firm. This helps the
child to see firsthand that writing is
important to adults and truly useful.
•
Use games. There are numerous games
and puzzles that help a child to increase
vocabulary and make the child more fluent
in speaking and writing. Remember,
building a vocabulary builds confidence.
Try crossword puzzles, word games,
•
Suggest making lists. Most children like
to make lists just as they like to count.
Encourage this. Making lists is good
practice and helps a child to become more
organized. Boys and girls might make lists
of their records, tapes, baseball cards,
dolls, furniture in a room, etc. They could
include items they want. It's also good
practice to make lists of things to do,
schoolwork, dates for tests, social events,
and other reminders.
• Encourage copying. If a child likes a
particular song, suggest learning the words
by writing them down-replaying the song
on your stereo/tape player or jotting down
the words whenever the song is played on a
radio program. Also encourage copying
favorite poems or quotations from books
and plays.
