TN American Water is adding a dewatering process to its water plant. The scope
includes 2 new centrifuges, a backwash tank, gravity thickener, pump stations,
a sludge holding tank and a splitter box. Ultimately, the addition of a dewatering
process onsite will improve the sludge processing of the facility.
Project Challenges:
Working on an older plant that is more than 100 years old, with inconsistent
and sometimes inaccurate as-built design documentation
Maintaining active operations of the plant is critical as it is servicing a
population of 400,000 with no backup
During the project, there were several updates and changes to the design
that were unexpected, and not included in the original scope.

Bowen Resourceful:
Bowen has worked actively with the engineer to solve complex onsite
engineering challenges, minimizing both schedule and cost impacts.

The team has worked actively with plant staff to ensure plant operability
during the project.
During construction the operations team asked for Bowen’s support in
executing maintenance work to the plant. The team has been able to
support the plant’s needs and add these areas of scope without impacting
the overall project schedule.
