January 2016 BURRTEC NEWS Waste and Recycling Newsletter Sponsored by the City of Rancho Cucamonga and Burrtec Waste Industries Prepare for Strong Wind and Rain Strong Santa Ana winds and rain are in the forecast. A few preventative measures can protect your property and the neighborhood. • Keep trash, recycling, and green waste lids closed and containers secure if stored outside. • Bag and tie your trash before placing in the barrel to make clean-up easier should your barrel tip over. • Avoid placing trash, recycling, and green waste barrels out for collection on windy days if possible. • Store patio furniture, trampolines, and other items that can easily be damaged by the wind in your garage. • Trim trees and shrubs to prevent breakage during the wind. • Clear your property of loose brush, leaves, and pine needles. These items can prevent proper drainage of your property and block storm drains. • Clean out rain gutters and drains after the wind and before it rains. Other emergency preparation information can be found at www.RCFire.org.
