The Daily 4x4 enters the arena. The comfort of a road-going Daily with all the benefits of an off-road vehicle.
PERFORMANCE
Icy surfaces, uneven ground, steep gradients and slippery tracks. None
of these scare the new Daily 4x4, designed to meet the needs of those
who work in difficult situations at all times: over rough tracks, unfinished
roads or even where there are no roads at all. In the light vehicle category,
the Daily 4x4 stands out because it offers the best combination of payload
and off-road performance.
The Daily 4x4 reflects and adds to the values of the new Daily. It multiplies
its sturdiness and its quality as an ideal worker; it offers power and
comfort in two models, two wheelbases and two versions: 3-seater single
cab mainly for goods transport; crew cab with five seats plus the driver
to allow the transport of people and goods.

DESIGN AND FUNCTION.
The Daily 4x4’s styling is based on that of the
Giugiaro-designed Daily, but combines its good looks with
the practicality of typical off-road features. The cab is raised
in relation to the frame to allow extensive suspension travel.
Because the cab is higher, footboards are provided for
easier access and positioned so that they do not hinder
the off-road performance. A close proximity mirror
is present on the passenger side to improve visibility whilst
manoeuvring.
Direction signals, sidelights and high beams are housed inside
the upper light clusters.
The generous front bumper, which houses and protects
the low beam and fog light assemblies, is in special steel
developed with a specific surface treatment that increases
its resistance to minor impact and abrasions. Generous plastic
side strips protect the side doors. The spare wheel
is fixed to the side of the frame by means of a practical winch
so that it does not hinder vehicle mobility.
The fuel tank, in ultra-sturdy plastic with a lockable safety cap,
is located in a protected area where it is safeguarded against
impact. A rear underrun protection bar is fitted to protect
the vehicle and passengers in the event of a collision.
During extremely demanding off-road routes, the bar may
be raised to make the vehicle even more agile during difficult
manoeuvres.
The Daily 4x4 is equipped with special rear wings fastened
to the frame to make it easier to facilitate body and equipment
installation.

COMFORT COMES FIRST.
Style and ergonomics, in short, are the characteristics of the Daily 4x4,
where comfort is high and the finish is to the same standard as on the road
version. The vehicle is easily accessible due to convenient grab handles
in ultra-sturdy material positioned on the ‘A’ pillars and on the base
of the passenger seat.
To offer the best comfort, the Daily 4x4 comes with a wide range of seats
for the driver and passengers: the driver can choose from a 3 way adjustable
seat with lumbar support right up to a heated, suspension seat for heavy
duty applications. Passengers have a choice between single seats or a bench
with a lap belt or a three-point belt. The crew cab version also offers
a comfortable and practical rear bench with seat belts and head restraint
that can accommodate up to 4 passengers. A choice of three different trims
is available: standard cloth, comfort cloth and vinyl, ideal for more demanding
missions. Plenty of space is available inside the cab and between the seats,
which is made more practical by a host of storage compartments
on the dashboard and in the door panels, plus bottle holders, cup holders
and a multipurpose box with two compartments for documents and food.

ERGONOMIC AND PRACTICAL.
From an ergonomic viewpoint, the Daily 4x4
offers great qualities: The most comprehensive
array of instruments and a practical layout
of controls with switches that are within easy
reach to make driving more comfortable.
To ensure easy gear changes, the gear lever
is located in the middle of the dashboard while
the crawler gear levers are located on
the floor between the seats to make it easier
to cross the cab.
To ensure greater practicality, the dashboard

also houses the tachograph, controls for the
three differential locks and the power take-off
(PTO). The dashboard houses a multifunction
display with a trip computer that allows drivers
to display information that is useful during
routine trips, such as time management, distance,
fuel consumption, outdoor temperature
and important information for servicing
and repairs. Leisure time is also catered for
with an MP3 CD radio, with satellite navigation
system and hands-free operation.

FRAME
STURDY.
The great strength of the Daily 4x4 is its frame.
It is testament of Iveco’s experience in the field
of industrial vehicles.
None comes as rugged as the Daily 4x4.
The frame is made up of tubular rails and cross
members in high-strength steel (fe490),
with a 5 mm C-shaped cross-section.
Closed along almost the entire length of the
rails by a 4 mm plate, the end result is a sturdy
structure able to withstand the heavy duty
twisting and fatigue stresses typical of quarries,
building sites and extreme off-road uses.
It has also been designed to offer the maximum
simplicity of body installation and high safety
standards.

OFF-ROAD SUSPENSION.
A MATTER OF SAFETY.
The Daily 4x4 is fitted with suspension systems that are particularly
well-suited for demanding off-road applications. The longitudinal parabolic
leaf springs offer high flexibility with a wide range of travel. The front
and rear axle and leaf spring installation ensures stability and is highly
articulated to ensure traction under demanding off-road conditions.
The telescopic shock absorbers and antiroll stabiliser bars combined with
the rigid rear axle allow outstanding performance over all types of terrain
and gradients without detracting from load capacities and confirming that
the Daily is at the peak of its category.
Over uneven and steep routes, a high quality
braking system is essential for safety purposes
and, in this case too, the Daily 4x4 shows
its mettle as an off-road vehicle.
The system is hydraulic with a vacuum
brake servo acting on all four wheels with
independent circuits. The front disc brakes
are combined with rear drum brakes while
the parking brake works on the rear wheels.
During more demanding braking operations
and more difficult manoeuvres, the ABS ensures
that the vehicle is brought to a halt in complete
safety, reducing the stopping distances
and maintaining vehicle directional stability.
Over ground with poor grip and non-compacted
ground such as mud and snow, the ABS
is automatically deactivated when it is necessary
to engage the differential lock.
A mechanical load proportioning valve ensures
the distribution of braking force.
The maximum permitted loads on the axles:
For the 3.5 tonne model: 2,250 kg at the front, 2,800 kg at the rear.
For the 5.5 tonne model: 2,450 kg at the front, 3,700 kg at the rear.

The Daily 4x4 is called upon to perform demanding tasks under difficult conditions.
For this reason, Iveco opted for a permanent four-wheel drive with differential lock.
Outstanding performance is guaranteed by a system (with central transfer box) that allows
continuous four-wheel drive; torque distribution of 32% to the front axle and 68% to the rear
offers the right grip over all terrain.
The 6 speed overdrive gearbox is coupled to the central transfer box with two reduction
units in order to obtain 24 forward ratios: 12 for mixed routes and 12 for off-road routes
(6X2 + 6X2), and four reverse gears. When the vehicle is in motion, the first synchronised
reduction gear (half gear) may be engaged while the second reduction gear, for the most
extreme off-road applications, can be engaged only with the vehicle stopped.
The Daily 4x4 can tackle every terrain, even the most slippery, in safety. This is guaranteed
by the action of the three differentials (central, front and rear) that lock together the front
and rear axles and also across both front and rear axles so that all wheels drive together.
In this way, even over difficult surfaces where it is possible to lose grip, the wheels can transmit
movement to the vehicle, allowing it to overcome any road surface situation with agility.
On the Daily 4x4, an electro hydraulic unit governs the sequential engaging and disengaging
of the three differential locks, deactivating them automatically on the basis of speed in order
to ensure the greatest safety and reliability.

Allowing the potential of the Daily 4x4 to be exploited to the full,
the vehicle uses the highest performing engine in its class, with a 3 litre
HPT Common Rail producing 176 bhp, 4 cylinders, 16 valves, twin
overhead cam shaft, variable geometry turborcharger and intercooler.
This offers superior performance and reliability, even under the most
difficult conditions. The secret of the high-performance and exceptional
flexibility from low speeds lies in a torque of 400 Nm – that remains
constant between 1,250 rev/min and 3,000 rev/min – ensuring a high
driving comfort and precise control of fuel consumption.
The engine is a high efficiency direct injection diesel with EGR
and particulate trap (DPF) as standard to ensure respect to the
environment and the toughest exhaust emission standards, perfectly
compatible with use around town.
The advanced common rail injection system guarantees continuous
filter regeneration even when the engine is not expending any effort,
for example when the power take-off is used with the vehicle parked.

CONVERSIONS
DAILY 4X4 AND BODY FITTING.
The vehicle is easy to adapt due to various
design features, including its ladder type frame,
power take-offs and electrical system.
The chassis frame has been designed with
its upper surface free to accommodate the
widest imaginable range of bodies. It is equipped
with special mounts designed and tested by
Iveco and appropriately spaced to ensure that
the body is properly fastened and to facilitate
fitting and removal operations with greater
safety, even with high stress applications.
The box sectioned structure of the front cross
member of the frame is ready for the fitting
of front-mounted equipment for road
maintenance. The vehicle may be equipped
with Power take-offs (PTOs) on the gearbox
or behind the transfer box with hydraulic
engagement and 4 different types of optional
attachment for the operation of external
equipment by means of hydraulic pumps
or propeller shafts. To make the work
of bodybuilders easier, the vehicle electrical
system is equipped with a CAN line interface
to make it possible to take off signals and issue
commands to the vehicle. The vehicle’s electrical
power is guaranteed by a 110 Ah battery
combined with an 120A alternator or,
as an option, a 140A alternator.

Hire Purchase is popular with operators looking to acquire
ownership of the vehicle. It can cover up to 100% of the
vehicle’s selling price and enables you to take delivery of the
asset straight away, but with payments spread over the life of
the vehicle and the option of keeping the asset at the end of
the term for a nominal fee. Payments can be tailored to suit the
cash flow needs of your business, making budgeting easier as the
payment structure is agreed with you at the outset. Acquiring
new vehicles under a Hire Purchase agreement also has tax
advantages, in that you claim the writing down allowances and
the interest elements of the repayments are allowable against
taxable profit.

business. It means that vehicles are hired to you for a fixed
period without the option of ownership, and at the end of
the primary period you may choose to continue to rent the
asset for a further period at a nominal rate or to act as an
agent in its disposal. This means you have the option to sell the
vehicle on our behalf and keep the majority of the proceeds.
Furthermore, for Finance Leases of five years or less, as Iveco
Capital remains the owner of the asset, we claim the writing
down allowance and the benefit is passed to you in your rental
payments.Your cash flow is eased still further because you pay
VAT on the monthly repayments, not on the principal purchase
cost. In addition, you claim tax relief on the rental based on
the finance charge and depreciation charge through your profit
and loss account.
Operating lease: one rental, many advantages.
An Operating Lease is a financial agreement where the asset is
treated as an off balance sheet item and Iveco Capital retains
ownership of it. Customers selecting this option agree to
specific usage parameters for the vehicles at the outset - and
assuming these do not vary significantly, the monthly payments
and interest are fixed for the duration of your contract.
The prime advantage of this arrangement is that rentals are
significantly lower than under a Finance Lease, because the
vehicle’s residual value is included in the transaction. At the end
of the agreement you can choose to extend the agreement or
simply return the vehicle to us. For Operating Leases of five
years or less, we have the legal and tax title to the asset allowing
us to make effective use of writing down allowances, which
we pass on to you within the rental. In addition, you claim tax
relief on the whole rental amount through your profit and loss
account.Your cash flow is eased still further because you pay VAT
on the monthly repayments, not on the principal purchase cost.
