Zakat appeal in Ramzan
We are deeply grateful to all our donors and supporters for
making our Zakat Appeal Campaign in the month of Ramzan
a huge success. It means a lot to us that we have been
surrounded by such love and support by friends, donors,
media and even strangers. The campaign was launched on
J u l y 2 0 , 2 0 1 2 d e s i gn e d a n d exe c u te d by Pre s t i g e
Communications for which we are deeply grateful to their
entire team. Based on heart touching true stories of our male/
female patients with special focus on women the objective
was to make people realize what losing sight means and how
their support in the form of Zakat & donations could save
millions from blindness enabling them to remain productive,
dignified and income generating members of society.
We are particularly thankful to the following for their support
during the month of Ramzan:

LRBT Hospital, Khanewal
LRBT Hospital, Arifwala
In an effort to make rural posting attractive to doctors,
additional residential accommodation is under construction
which is expected to be ready by December 2012. This will help
in attracting doctors to serve at this hospital
LRBT satellite clinics at rural health centers
LRBT
Hospital in
Khanewal
Our Hospital at Khanewal was originally opened in 2006 in a
donated bungalow which had been modified for it.
Consequently it did not provide a smooth flow for movement
of patients. This made their visit more time consuming. The
new OPD/Surgical complex provides a comfortable waiting
area with proper facilities, screening, refraction, consultant
rooms, a new major and minor operation theatre, biometry
and a dispensary all under one roof. It is expected that the
new Complex will be ready to receive patients by end
December this year.
In a new initiative, LRBT through a Memorandum of
Understanding with the District Administration of District
Chakwal and Rawalpindi launched four new Satellite clinics
in the peripher y of our Mandra Hospital. Under the
programme, a qualified team of mid level ophthalmic
professionals visit four RHC's on designated days of the week
to examine patients. The response has been overwhelming
especially from women, children and older people. In order
to enhance the coverage, LRBT, in the near future plans to
train the Lady Health Workers for diagnosing common eye
problems and referring them to these clinics based at the
RHC's.
