Flashback Classic Car and Motorcycle Show Returns
A Publication of the Glendora Chamber of Commerce
July - August 2008
This edition of The Business View sponsored by:
Proceeds from the fundraising event directly benefit local
educational programs by providing funding for scholarship
opportunities for college-bound Glendora students. A portion of the proceeds will also provide for business development programs and services for local businesses, assisting
in the promotion of a vital, balanced economy within the
community.
The classic car show, sponsored by Athens Services, will feature more than one hundred vehicles lined
down both sides of Glendora Avenue in the Village. The
motorcycle show, sponsored by Workman Construction,
will showcase a variety of both classic and modern bikes
for patrons to view.
In celebration of the event’s second decade an old
crowd favorite, The Wonderelles, will be brought back and
featured on the Seidner’s Collision stage. This 50’s & 60’s
girl group, who perform in both poodle skirts and rolled-up
jeans, put on a show that is guaranteed to get you up and
out of your seat and dancing to the music. The Wonderelles
have performed at a variety of different events throughout
the country, and have opened for music legends such as
Chubby Checker, The Drifters and The Temptations.
Returning again to the Hill Top Real Estate stage
will be another favorite, The Answer. This local band specializes in classic rock, and provided a show-stopping performance at last year’s Flashback event.
In addition to the car and motorcycle show and live

Summer is Here and So is Our New Year!
There is no doubt about it - summer is finally
here! Many of us anxiously await this time of year for
all the fun vacations and time with friends and family.
For those of us involved with the Glendora Chamber
of Commerce, it is the time of year when we are busy
at work planning for our new year (our fiscal year begins on July 1). I am honored to have been elected our
new Chamber President and realize there are big shoes
to fill following D.J. Jafari’s two consecutive terms.
He has done amazing things for our Chamber and I
look forward to helping to continue on that path.
The Chamber’s focus for the coming year is
on programs and services. We also want to make sure
that all of our Chamber Members are utilizing their
benefits to the fullest extent possible. Look for our
orientation sessions in the coming year that will give
you an update on what your benefits are and how to
take advantage of them.
We are also working toward events and programs that will help you market your business better.
As you probably know, our “I Shop Glendora” campaign is in full swing and we look forward to continuing to add components to it that will help your promotion efforts and drive more business to you. Please
refer to your “Business View” to stay up-to-date on all
of our offerings and events.
Your Chamber of Commerce also has in its
mission to be actively involved in our community.
One of the ways that we will do this is through the
21st Annual Flashback Classic Car and Motorcycle
Show on Saturday, August 23. This incredibly fun
event helps to support local educational programs as
well as business services in our community. Definitely a WIN-WIN for us all!
As you make your plans for the summer and
develop your strategy for your business for the coming
year, please consider how you can become more involved in your Chamber of Commerce and how we
can help you. Keep in mind that it also matters to us
what you think. If you have comments or suggestions,
please give us a call at the Chamber or you can contact
me directly at (626) 857-3342 or by e-mail at
[email protected].
Happy New Year Chamber Members!

NEW MEMBER PROFILE
I have been a part of the Glendora community for many
years, where my wife Miriam and I raised three beautiful daughters and a son. Glendora is a great place to raise a family, with
excellent schools and family oriented activities.
In 1998, I saw how Glendora was growing, and I decided to start my company, Community Cab, providing specialized taxi services that emphasized personal attention to my clients, privacy, and on time services which I’m proud to provide.
Our services are available any time of the day and night. Additionally, we offer service in three languages: English, Spanish
and Farsi. We also service nearby communities. We can be
reached at (626) 914-4533.
MEMBER RENEWALS
Thank you to the following Members who continue to support Glendora’s business community by renewing their
membership in the Chamber of Commerce. A special thank you to those Members in bold type who have included a

MAYOR’S
CORNER
Karen Davis, Mayor
City of Glendora
As gas prices continue to soar, we are reminded of
another good reason to “shop Glendora”. The desire to
keep gas in our tanks and money in our wallets is great motivation for us to do destination shopping and entertainment. Think of the fuel you will save (and it helps the environment!) when you drive your car to the Village, park and
then go shopping at one of several fine retail establishments, perhaps then go to one of the service businesses
(hair, nails, facial, etc.), then continue your walk to one of
the restaurants, and eventually walk back to your car. You
might go to the Glendora Marketplace and make a “day of
it”, or an “evening of it,” by shopping and dining, or head
to the Route 66 corridor and shop and dine there. There are
wonderful options for driving less and enjoying more of
what the community has to offer.
Spend your summer close to home with “daycations” at the shops, restaurants and the other many activities in Glendora. By supporting one another, we can
weather these difficult financial times. Have a wonderful
and safe summer, and please remember to keep it safe by
adhering to Glendora’s “no firework” ordinance.

CITRUS COLLEGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES APPOINTS
NEW SUPERINTENDENT/PRESIDENT
June 2, 2008 - The Citrus Community College
District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that
Geraldine M. Perri, Ph.D., has been appointed to serve as
superintendent/president of Citrus College.
Dr. Perri’s employment was approved at a special
meeting of the board of trustees held May 30. She will succeed current superintendent/president Michael J. Viera,
Ph.D., who will be retiring at the end of the month after
serving five years at the helm of Citrus College.
“Dr. Perri is an excellent choice to lead Citrus College as our 7th superintendent/president,” said Dr. Edward
C. Ortell, president of the board of trustees. “She brings a
wealth of experience in community college leadership, with
a strong background in facilities construction, enrollment
management and resource development.”
During her 27 years of experiences in community
college education, Dr. Perri worked as an administrator for
17 years and as an instructor for nearly a decade. Her past
administrative positions include vice president of instruction at San Diego Mesa College from 1998 to 2001 and
dean of instruction/career education at Mt. San Jacinto College in Riverside County from 1996 to 1998.
Most recently, she served as president of Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, Calif. During her tenure, Dr.
Perri oversaw the implementation of the college’s educational and facilities master plans. She is also credited with
advancing the growth and development of the college. In
fact, under her leadership, the college witnessed its highestever student enrollment and was twice recognized by Community College Week as one of the fastest-growing midsized colleges in the nation.
A community college graduate herself, Dr. Perri
holds an associate degree in dental hygiene from the City
University of New York, Hostos Community College. She
received her doctor of human an organizational development degree from Fielding Graduate University in Santa
Barbara, where she also earned a master’s degree in organizational development. In addition, Dr. Perri holds a master
of health education degree and bachelor of science degree
from New York University. She has completed Harvard
University’s Institute for Management and Leadership in
Education and Cornell University’s Community College
Administrative Leadership Institute.
Throughout her long career in education, Dr. Perri
has received awards and accolades from numerous organizations. Most recently, she was nominated for the San
Diego Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business
award, and has been nominated twice for the East County
Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Women in Education
award. Among her many honors, she also has been acknowledged by Cuyamaca College’s Academic and Classified Senates for her leadership and was commended for
“building a culture of respect and willingness to listen and
honor faculty and classified leadership” by the Western
Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
“Under Dr. Perri’s direction, we believe Citrus
College will build on our reputation for excellence and be
well equipped to meet the many challenges that lie ahead,”
Ortell said.
Dr. Perri’s tenure at Citrus College will commence
on July 1, 2008.
