Over the next 10 months, the Denver Museum of Nature & Science conducted its largest-ever fossil excavation, yielding a treasure trove of well-preserved Ice Age fossils. Museum crews uncovered more than 5,000 bones of 41 kinds of Ice Age animals, including mammoth, mastodon, ground sloth, camel, deer, horse, and giant bison. Visit the Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Center to learn more about this fascinating Ice Age discovery. At the IADC, you can touch mammoth and mastodon teeth and bones, wonder at a half-sized 6’ wooden Mammoth skeleton, see video from Denver Museum of Nature & Science and National Geographic, and learn the story of the Snowmass Ice Age discovery.
