Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF) is proud to continue the longstanding partnership with ConAgra to offer wheat growers premiums for select
hard white winter wheat varieties. The demand for hard white wheat continues to
grow as consumers look for the health benefits of whole grain products from hard white wheat varieties.

Don’t wait. Join the program this fall. Participating in the CWRF ConAgra Mills Ultragrain® Premium Program
is easy and it’s a great way to earn premium prices on your wheat crop. Get started in three easy steps:
1. Contact your local PlainsGold seed grower
The new PlainsGold brand offers two great varieties that are eligible for the program. Snowmass and
Thunder CL can be purchased directly from local PlainsGold seed growers right in your area.
They’ll also help you with necessary paperwork to enroll in the program.

2. Join the Program
After you talk to your local seed grower, they will help
you finalize all the necessary contracts to join the
program, including:
• Grain Pricing Schedule with ConAgra Mills detailing
the contract terms.
• Wheat Seed Agreement with CWRF that requires
the planting of certified seed and the delivery of
all production to ConAgra.
• Clearfield® Wheat Stewardship Grower
Agreement with BASF (for Thunder CL).
3. E arn Premiums of 30-90 cents/bushel
All Snowmass and Thunder CL wheat grown under the premium program is eligible for a minimum
premium of 30 cents per bushel, regardless of protein levels. Additional bonuses of up to 60 cents per bushel
are available for protein levels starting at 12.2% up to 15%. New for the 2013 crop, premiums
increase more quickly at lower protein levels.
That means wheat with 15% protein will earn you a premium of 90 cents/bushel. Here’s how it breaks out:

Every variety offered by PlainsGold comes from
the outstanding research done at Colorado State
University (CSU). The highly recognized public wheat
breeding program at CSU focuses its resources on
developing varieties that optimize yields, incorporate
resistance to key diseases in the High Plains region,
and carry desirable end-use quality characteristics for
domestic and export markets. Royalties from
PlainsGold certified wheat seed sales provide
needed supplemental funding to expand
wheat breeding and wheat-related
research activities at CSU.
$2 Per Bushel Rebate on Certified Seed Purchases
Purchase Snowmass or Thunder CL this fall from a participating seed
grower and get a $2 per bushel rebate on your certified seed purchase
from ConAgra Mills. The rebate will be paid on this year’s seed
purchases, after next year’s harvest.

Snowmass hard white winter wheat is the flagship
variety in the CWRF ConAgra Mills Ultragrain® Premium
Program. Snowmass is in high demand with millers and
bakers because of its unparalleled milling and baking
quality. In addition to the price and protein premium,
Snowmass features good dryland yields with good test
weights, excellent wheat streak mosaic resistance and
medium-tall plant height for increased crop residue.
Thunder CL is another PlainsGold hard white winter
wheat variety. Thunder CL is a one-gene Clearfield®
hard white winter wheat variety that is tolerant to
Beyond™ herbicide for broad-spectrum weed control,
including problematic winter annual grassy weeds.
In addition, Thunder CL combines good yields, good
stress tolerance, good disease resistance, good test
weights and superior milling and baking qualities.
