Perhaps you envision designing clothing for a fashion brand or gowns that
stars will model on the red carpet.
Maybe it’s creating the interior of a
home or an entire hotel. It could be
working on a movie poster or a movie
set that you’ve envisioned down to the
last detail or managing a creative team.
Perhaps it’s globe-hopping
to spot trends for a major
fashion company or to oversee the launch of your clothing line. When you pursue
your passion, your chances
of success are greater because you’re going to work
hard doing what you love.

FIDM: YOUR “IN” TO THE INDUSTRY.
FIDM is more than a college.
It’s the starting point to building
a career in the industry.
What Does “The Industry”
Mean?
Members of the Entertainment and
Fashion industries have long felt a
special uniqueness and they affectionately refer to themselves as “The
Industry.” The term encompasses the
people and companies who design,
manufacture, and create fashion,
interior design, and entertainmentrelated products and services.
The Industry Helps Develop
The Curriculum.
Tim Gunn, Diane von Furstenberg,
Emanuel Ungaro, and Fred Segal are
just some of the industry giants on our
Advisory Board. They have an unwavering commitment to FIDM, keeping us
up to date on changing trends and community needs, so our curriculum stays
ahead of the curve.
A Visual Communications student styles a
model for a photoshoot.
We were founded with one
single-minded focus: that
everything at FIDM is industry
driven. It’s as simple as that.
5

and commitment to training a new

The Industry Is The
Source For Part-Time Jobs
And Internships.
The Industry Needs
Professional Talent.
Industry leaders know that when they
hire FIDM Graduates, they’re hiring
professionals who have the necessary
skills to get started immediately. That’s
why they value our alumni. Companies
seek out FIDM Graduates, and the Career Center posts over 27,000 industry
jobs a year.
From the first day of class, FIDM
Students are integrated into a network
of industry connections. Internships
and part-time jobs give students crucial
hands-on experience, and our highly
committed Career Advisors work with
students to find work that builds their
resumes and prepares them for the job
market. Because we have established
relationships with top fashion companies, movie and television studios, and
advertising agencies, our students have
exclusive access to some of the top student opportunities in the industry.
6

THE FIDM FORMULA: IT WORKS.
We’re often asked, “Is there a formula for making it in the industry?”
And you know what? There is. It’s not a magic potion that turns grads
into instant stars, but a tried and true blueprint for success –
if students are willing to do the work.
FIDM Coursework
