ANNOUNCING THE NEWS OF THE FOSSIL RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL BANDS
Notes for Mini-Camp - May 31-June 1; 5:00-9:00p:
•All students must wear appropriate, athletic footwear at all band rehearsals. No sandals, Tevas, boots, etc will be allowed.
We do a lot of moving and appropriate footwear is a must for your success and to avoid injury.
•Dress comfortably for the physical activity we will be doing. Pay attention to the weather, and have sunscreen, a hat, water
bottle, jacket, etc as needed. We will be outside for much of the time so plan accordingly.
•Bring all warm-up materials and show music in a three-ring binder with a pencil.
All Brass & Woodwind members - part assignments and new music for the 2016 Marching Band show have been posted in
the Member’s Only section of the Band website. Log in (note both username and password are: sabercats) to print the warmup packet, harmony chords, flow studies, and your music for the show. Be sure to have these materials (in a 3-ring binder)
for the Mini-Camp on May 31-June 1.
Percussion members - parts will be made available directly from Mr. Stroman through the percussion section Dropbox.
Contact the Band Office if you are not shared to that Dropbox.
Students needing School-Owned Instruments: instruments may be checked out starting at 4:00p on each day of MiniCamp in the Band Office. Please have your instrument rental fee ($100 per year, payable to “FRHS Band”) at time of checkout.
Keep your contact information up-to-date - Students & parents, please use the link on the homepage of the Band website to
keep your contact information (especially e-mail addresses) current. Especially during the summer and fall marching band
season, most of the information about the Band is sent via e-mail.

•Student-Led sectionals and social events - throughout June & July, individual sections may coordinate rehearsals or social

information needed for success, as well as the team-building amongst the students that makes the Band successful happens
in these less formal, but very important get-togethers. Don’t panic if you cannot attend, but do your best...they are well
worth the investment of your time.
Summer Sectionals start the week of July 11th:
• See the Band Calendar for specific dates.

Grocery Card program Update: the grocery card program will resume the week of July 11th when summer sectionals start
back up. Volunteers will be contacting each Band family to coordinate orders. We highly encourage all band families to
take advantage of this great program to generate funds for your Band account and activities. See the Band website or
contact the Band Office for more information. A few notes to consider:
• Orders will be placed on the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month only for the 2016-2017 school year.
• Cards come in $50 or $100 increments. (We will no longer offer the $25 cards, and they are not the “reloadable”
cards that some may be familiar with from other organizations).
• Starting in July, the Safeway cards may also be used at Albertson’s stores!
• Many Band students are able to generate substantial funds for their Band account by coordinating with co-workers,
relatives, etc., for one week each month. These people can help support your Band efforts without have to purchase
the usual “fundraiser stuff ” that nobody really wants or needs simply by taking advantage of this great program on a
regular basis. Contact the Band Office if you have any questions as to how to make this great program work for you!
Uniform Drive/Fundraising Update: our fundraising efforts for the new uniforms continues, and to date has generated just
over $80,000 between donations, sponsorships, and the school contribution. We have several activities and events scheduled
to help us generate the remaining funds needed, but the main source of financial support continues to be donations
from individuals and businesses. Please consider helping our efforts by:
• Check with your employer about matching donations.
• Do you have a contact with a local business that may be interested in supporting the Band? Please send that information to
the Band Office.
• Consider making a donation to our Uniform Drive yourself…every donation helps!
Please see the Band Website for the full Sponsorship Packet outlining giving levels and various benefits individual and
corporate sponsors will receive.
