When Audi was preparing to launch a new corporate
identity, the luxury auto maker decided its ad builder
software had outlived its effectiveness. Audi selected
Saepio to protect its branding and to give dealers a
single point of access for all marketing assets.

brands. The company’s distributed marketing force of
nearly 290 domestic dealers play a key role in Audi’s
market presence and market share gain for luxury
brands sold in America.
CHALLENGE
While Audi had provided an ad builder resource for its
dealers since the early 2000’s, it needed a much more
dynamic solution that streamlined ad creation across all
models, offer types, media and size. Without such a system,
ad hoc efforts by local dealers to create their own ad
materials often caused brand effectiveness to suffer. In
addition, images were not tagged with metadata so
finding the right asset was cumbersome for users.
SOLUTION
Saepio offered Audi more bang for the buck. Sophisticated
metadata tagging makes finding assets (including print
ads, flyers, flash banners and emails fast and easy for
dealers. Dynamic customization capabilities and automatic
resizing eliminate the need to involve an outside agency to
manually version ads. Plus, storefront enhancements and
real-time reporting add to the new system’s value.

Implementation took just two months and dealers
embraced the solution right away. Dealers can customize
ads and send placement ready output to publications
within minutes, without jumping through hoops or having
to send corporate-approved art first to an agency for
local customization, saving Audi hundreds of thousands of
dollars. The Saepio platform also makes it much easier for
dealers to comply with brand standards.
Mark Dahncke, who managed the solution launch for
Audi of America, estimates the dynamic customization and
resizing features alone save $450,000 by eliminating the
need for 15 versions of each ad.
“With our old system, we had to have an agency create
different templates for any given ad to accommodate each
model, offer type, and size,” he said. “Now we just have to
create one template and Saepio does the rest.” Dollars are
not the only savings, Audi realizes. Ads that used to take
hours, days or weeks to create can now be customized
and sent to production in 30 minutes or less.
Campaign management and planning, more streamlined
and integrated email and other collateral customizing
capabilities, increased Flash customization, and user
customizable interfaces are a few of the new resources
Audi is using.
Additionally, Dahncke said they continue to add enhanced
real-time reporting about who is using the system and
what they are using, data that used to take two weeks
to generate. “We’re reducing costs, saving time and
empowering dealers to get a locally relevant message out
faster while protecting the Audi brand,” Dahncke said.

In addition, Audi corporate marketing wanted to leverage the experience of a proven vendor with top accounts and
get the most functionality they could for the price. Audi considered 10 providers and in the end, Saepio was able to
meet all of their criteria.
