Black alumite1 rims, black fork guards, and blue alumite1 finish on the suspension adjusters further strengthen their factory image. 6 UNMISTAKABLE KX DNA UNMISTAKABLE KX DNA Just like our larger KX motocross models, the KX85 and KX85-II feature factory looks evocative of our works racers. The all-new bodywork, sharp graphics package and numerous factory-style touches contribute to a strong KX family image and warn rivals of the racewinning potential housed in all KX motocross models. Factory styling details NEW * The new bodywork and graphics of the KX85 and KX85-II give them a strong resemblance to the larger KX models, enabling young racers to look just like Ryan Villopoto and other Kawasaki heroes when leading the pack. NEW * Revised front and rear fender designs match those used on larger KX models. The new design (same as that used on the KX450F/250F) helps prevent mud build-up. Kawasaki logo moulded into the plastic adds to the big bike image. The gains are so significant that the engine can be considered a completely different unit from its high-revving predecessor. NEW * Revised cylinder bore treatment (electrofusion coating >> nikasil plating) contributes to increased durability. The resultant greater primary pressure ratio contributes to increased engine performance. 10 (Photo 10) NEW NEW * Increased tightness of the press fit of the crank pin, and larger-diameter (ø81 mm >> ø83 mm) crankshaft weights offer increased rigidity and durability. * Completely revised KIPS valve construction (3-piece >> 2 independent pieces) offers improved sealing, greatly contributing to increased engine performance. Enclosed muffler-end shape resists mudclogging. 11 BOOSTED CHASSIS PERFORMANCE BOOSTED CHASSIS PERFORMANCE Complementing the increased engine performance, the chassis package benefits from numerous changes to the suspension and brake systems that allow young racers to ride at a higher pace. Supension NEW * 36 mm inverted front fork features revised valve construction that delivers improved damping and greater bottoming resistance. The new shim-stack type valves (the same style used on the larger KX models), updated from portstyle valves, generate greater compression and rebound damping force (even over gaps), allowing higher-paced riding and contributing to increased ride comfort. (Photos 17-18) 17 18 (Photo 16) * Large-diameter 220 mm front brake gripped by a dual-piston caliper is complemented by a 184 mm disc and single-piston caliper at the rear. NEW NEW * Revised compression damping mechanism for the rear shock allows compression damping force to be generated at slower stroke speeds, contributing to a more stable ride feel. The new mechanism is 24-way adjustable for compression damping, 21-way adjustable for rebound damping. * Revised rear shock spring is approximately 150 g lighter. In addition to being available in two sizes, as part of their makeover, the KX100 and KX85/85-II get all-new bodywork that not only reinforces their KX lineage, but contributes to improved ergonomics for enhanced comfort and control. KX85 (KX85C) 2014MY KX85 / KX85-II MODEL INFORMATION KX85-II (KX85D) 14 SIZED RIGHT Two sizes Adjustable handlebar: 6 positions Designed for growing riders, the KX85 and KX85-II are available in two sizes, making it easier to find a bike that fits like a glove. An adjustable handlebar allows riders to custom-fit their riding position. * The KX85, featuring a 17-inch front wheel and 14-inch rear, is powered by a highrevving 84 cm3 2-stroke engine mounted in a sturdy perimeter frame. KX85 (KX85C) 20 KX85-II (KX85D) 21 (Photo 20) *With its 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels, the KX85-II is a large-wheel version of the KX85 and is designed for slightly larger riders. Collars offer a choice of three heights (STD, +5 mm, +10 mm), while reversible handlebar clamps allow two forward/rearward positions (STD, +10 mm FWD). In addition to contributing to strong factory looks, the new parts form a slim ergonomics package that facilitates rider movement. NEW * Slimmer (by up to 20 mm), flat-style seat, like on the KX450F/250F, makes it easier for riders to slide forward and back to adjust their riding position. 25 (Photo 25) NEW * Fuel tank features a flatter top that contributes to the improved ergonomics. NEW * Minimalist side covers were also made as small as possible. NEW * Seams between the shrouds, seat and side covers are very flush, which facilitates control as well as moving around on the bike.
