A message from your Director of Operations
Message from David Garner, Your Director of Operations
There is nothing better than the beginning of the golf season. After the long Canadian winter, we are all in
anticipation of warmer weather, longer days, and sunshine. As golfers, we also create our own internal images of
long drives that find the middle of the fairway, precision approaches that stop feet from the pin, and the putts that
find the centre of the cup. And now the time is here to enjoy your Home Club and make those dreams a reality!
To enhance that reality, your management team has been hard at work over the last few months to ensure your
membership experience at The Country Club continues to improve.
The Member events at The Country Club continue to evolve. Much of the work over the winter months was
focussed on making our event schedule better. The Captains Committee has been pivotal in this process, working to
make our Member events the best possible experience. We feel that we have a good balance of competitive and
social events that will encourage participation from Members of every level of playing ability. To see the full
schedule of events, visit the Club calendar at www.countryclub.clublink.ca and start planning your summer.
You have no doubt seen our new membership message: “There’s never been a more rewarding time to be a
ClubLink Member!” And that’s very true. ClubLink Members who refer a family member, friend or colleague who
becomes a full golf Member (26 years of age or older), prior to June 16 at any Club, will receive a credit to their
house account in 2015 and 2016 provided both members remain active full golf and upon payment of annual dues.
If the new Member joins a Silver-level Club, you will receive a $350 credit in 2015 AND $350 in 2016. If the new
Member joins a Gold- or Platinum-level Club, you will receive a $500 credit in 2015 AND $500 in 2016. If the new
Member joins a Prestige-level Club, those credits increase to $750 each. Should the person you refer join after June
15, but before the end of the 2015 golf season, the appropriate credits will be applied in 2016 and 2017.
There are many other membership initiatives for 2015 such as deferred membership payment options, memberships
for juniors and intermediates, our new system-wide cart plan, expanded food and beverage minimum and
discretionary gratuities for our servers in the bistro and on the course. And how about our Introduction to Golf
program for less frequent or new golfers who aren’t ready to commit to a full ClubLink membership? It’s an
unbelievable value!
Complimentary Family Twilight benefits are now offered to full golf Members' spouses, children and grandchildren
up to 15 years of age at all Gold-, Platinum- and Prestige-level Clubs. Full golf Members of Platinum- and Prestigelevel Clubs can now take advantage of complimentary restricted junior memberships for children and grandchildren
up to 15 years of age in addition to their Family Twilight benefits.
Feel free to ask me about ClubLink’s membership initiatives or contact a membership consultant at 1-800-661-1818
or [email protected].
And if there is a junior in your family, help them get into the greatest game in the world through our various clinics
and camps. ClubLink is also proud to offer the Junior Performance Centre at The Club at Bond Head in conjunction
with The Golf Lab. Ask for details in the golf shop.
If you are thinking about a summer vacation, please consider Rocky Crest Golf Resort and Sherwood Inn in
Muskoka or Le Maitre de Mont-Tremblant and its partner hotel, Fairmont Tremblant, in Quebec. Remember,
ClubLink Members get preferred pricing!
3
But don’t stay away too long! We need our Members to participate in the race for the ClubLink Cup. The ClubLink
Cup is a season-long competition in which Clubs accumulate points at each qualifying ClubLink Member
championship. Such events include the Men’s and Ladies’ Interclub Championship, the Tournament of
Champions, Mixed Member Championship, Infiniti Men’s Night Championship, TaylorMade-adidas Junior
Interclub and the Generation Cup.
Please take the time to review the details of the handbook. If you have questions, feel free to ask any of our golf
shop staff.
Thanks again for choosing The Country Club as your Home Club. We are always looking to improve and provide
you with the best possible experience every day.
Sincerely,
David Garner

A message from your Golf Course Superintendent
On behalf of my staff, I invite you to please enjoy our beautiful courses and if you have any questions or comments,
please contact me at [email protected] or ext. 2267. For all you computer-savvy people out there, you can follow
my daily turf reports on Twitter @CountryClubTurf. You will find up-to-the-minute details about what is going on
at our Club each and every day.
Course Closures – Course Management Practices: During the season there are a number of practices that my
department must do to keep the playing conditions optimal. These include:
Aerification – This process pokes holes into the turf allowing for air and water to penetrate compacted soils from
daily golfer traffic to improve root development.
Top-dressing – This is when we add a thin layer of sand to the greens to increase the smoothness of the putting
surface and also to reduce thatch accumulation (tightly intermingled layers of dead and living stems and roots that
develop between the growing turf plants and the soil surface).
Vertical Mowing – This is a process of thinning out the dense turf canopy to allow for air and water. It also
removes thatch which is detrimental to the overall health of the turf and ultimately gives a smooth putting surface.
Frost Delays – In spring and fall, the turf becomes frozen. At this point, we need to have all traffic off the grass
until the turf defrosts. Tall trees around greens cast shadows that retard the warming process and keeps us off the
first tee.
All the above practices are absolutely necessary to keep our great property in optimal playing conditions. It’s
regular maintenance—no different than having to change the oil in your car every 5,000 kilometres.
DRIVING RANGE MAINTENANCE HOURS
The driving range will be closed every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and every Friday for the first two hours of the
day. This is when my team can perform the necessary weekly duties. Thank you for your understanding.
Integrated Pest Management: We are all aware that Ontario has passed a law banning all pesticide use in this
province. Golf courses are exempted from this law, but with special considerations. We are committed to reducing
pesticide use on our golf courses. The biggest challenge is educating the golfing Members that golf courses are
changing in a dramatic way. Gone are the days of wall-to-wall perfect lawns. Golf courses are being mandated to
allow certain pests that were once forbidden or never seen on golf courses years ago. Some examples are clover
patches and broad-leafed weeds in our native areas. Golf is seeing a change and it is my job to try and explain how
the courses will be different than in years past. As we become more educated in what these products do to our
environment, the golf industry is turning to alternative products to help us maintain our high standards of aesthetics.
Audubon Society Membership: The Audubon Society is an organization whose focus is creating positive
environmental practices. The Country Club became fully certified under the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary
Program in 1998. In order to maintain our certification, we need to meet their standards of environmental
protection. Golf courses have changed many practices in order to meet these standards. I am very proud to be part
of the initiative to infuse golf with a healthy, strong and green environment consciousness.

A message from your Food and Beverage Manager
The Food and Beverage Department at The Country Club is committed to providing the best possible service and
product to our Members. New initiatives will be put in place to further improve service to all our Members and
their guests this season. We are passionate about our department and the Club, so in the event that we don’t meet
your expectations, please contact me directly and I will address your concerns.
We will be helping celebrate the Club’s 50th anniversary this year, running a “Throw Back Thursday” program for
June, July and August offering one item every Thursday for $5— like back in the good old days—in addition to the
formal celebrations for the anniversary. More details to follow!
We host numerous Member non-golf events during the course of each season. Executive Chef Simon Berriman and
his team have great plans for all the events including Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Wine Maker’s Dinner, the new
“Fine Dining in Woodbridge,” and themed events such as our Ribfest and Lobsterfest. Members will receive
reminders via email and in-Club advertising.
We will continue our popular themed nights in Tucks: Wednesday Pizza Night, Thursday Pasta Night, Chef’s
Friday Night Patio Barbecue and Sunday Prime Rib Night.
Member golf events, in particular Seniors’ Day, Ladies’ Day, and Men’s Night, will remain a priority for the
department and we encourage all our Members to come and experience the events, the accompanying food and
fellowship.
Our bistro, Tuck’s, offers a wide array of outstanding dishes from a value-packed breakfast menu, great lunch
offerings and a unique new dinner menu to meet our Members’ needs.
We are also making further changes to what and how we serve product at the halfway houses. For example, we will
be making sandwiches, offering a selection of fresh breads, fillings and toppings on request, assembled, fresh to
order.
Looking forward to a great 2015 season.

A message from your Men’s Captain
I would like to welcome you all to the 2015 golf season at The Country Club. Your Men’s Golf Committee has
worked hard in the off-season to create a season full of exciting events.
Whether you are a returning participant, new to the Club or an existing Member who has not previously played in
events, we encourage you to participating this season. From our signature events: Member-Guest Day, Handicap
Medal Play or championship weekend to our Captains’ Series events, all are designed to engage any skill level.
We have reduced the number of events with the goal of enhancing each of the events that we run. Every event will
include a food and beverage component which will encourage networking with other Members.
I hope to see you out at our events and should you have any comments please forward them to myself or any
member of the Golf Committee.
Enjoy your season.

A message from your Ladies’ Captain
On behalf of the Ladies’ Committee, I would like to encourage you to participate in all of our ladies’ events this
coming summer. As your captain, I look forward to your return or if you are a new or transfer Member to The
Country Club, I personally look forward to meeting you and having a game.
The ladies’ events include Tuesday Ladies’ Day with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun and Ladies’ Weekenders that have tee
times starting at 9 a.m. for the most part. Tuesday is a day with friendly competition, while the Weekenders is a
more competitive group and all Club Trophy events take place on the weekend. On Tuesdays, you may sign up as a
threesome, for some they prefer this, or as a single and the golf shop will put you into a threesome. If you are new
or returning, give us a try. We will make sure that you are paired up with people that will make your experience
enjoyable. We have an information session June 23 and this gives everyone the opportunity to give their input on
how we could make your events even better and achieve the goal of good participation. This past year has been
very successful and we want the trend to continue, but we cannot do it if you do not speak up if you have a concern
or suggestion. We do listen! Our liaison with the golf shop is Ryan Oliver. He will be very proactive in all our
events.
The signature event of the season is our Member-Guest on July 14 with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Our theme this
year is Blanc on Blanc a la Gatsby. As a Member, you can bring up to three guests, no prizes for overall winners,
competitions on the course, a fun day for all.
For all the ladies’ events, you will find the information and weekly sign up sheets and the pairing tee sheets in the
ladies’ locker room before the locker bays. You are also encouraged to visit our blog for updated information
throughout the season at www.ccladies12.blogspot.ca.
I hope everyone has great year golfing and I look forward to seeing you all throughout the season. I would very
much like to meet and play golf with you this season. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact
me at [email protected].

LADIES’ ACTIVITIES
Ladies’ activities are comprised of two parts: Tuesday Ladies’ Day and Weekenders
Open to Full and South Members of the ladies’ section.
Tuesday Ladies
Each Tuesday offers the chance for ladies to play in an event that is focused on having fun and the social aspect
rather than competition. Each week, we start play with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun, followed by an optional lunch, with
special Ladies’ Day menu and prices, provided in the Woodbridge Room.
Weekenders
A smaller but more competitive group, we conduct all our trophy events on the weekend. However, even if you do
not want to participate in the competition, you are still encouraged to sign up and play following the competitive
groups.

JUNIOR PROGRAMS
2015 ClubLinksters SNAG Golf Program
We’re taking a new approach with our junior instructional and introducing SNAG golf as a core part of our
weekend clinic program. We’re also refocusing on the young kids aged four to 11 as they comprise the majority of
our students.
Our goal is to always create a fun environment that allows every student to improve. Each student will gain a better
understanding regarding all aspects of the game including etiquette, rules, short game, full swing, course
management, physical fitness and how to practise correctly.
Young kids need to develop several skills before they can begin to improve. This is why we spend time focusing
on not only golf, but other athletic movements. For example, it’s very important kids learn to develop speed at a
young age. Focusing on developing these fundamentals enables them to improve as they get older.
The student to professional ratio of 5:1 allows every student to receive the personalized attention required for better
learning. They are also grouped by age which has been proven to improve attention and make them feel more
comfortable with the learning environment.
As in the past, the program will be offered on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for a little more flexibility.
Registration forms are available at the Club as well as online.
2015 Junior Instructional Camps
As a secondary option for more advanced golfers, we offer instructional golf camps run by PGA of Canada
teaching professional Jon Silvester. It is available to juniors who are between the ages of eight and 18. There are
four camps that run Tuesday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Along with the instruction, the
student will receive refreshments, lunch and golf on the South course. Space for these camps is limited to the first
10 entries on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to contact Jon Silvester if you’re interested as the camps fill
up quickly. [email protected].

Club Rules and Member Information
All ClubLink policies are explained fully in the Members Only section of your Club web site.
The following is for general reference only.
ALCOHOL SERVICE POLICY
Members and guests are strictly prohibited from bringing their own alcohol onto a ClubLink property in accordance with all
applicable liquor licensing regulations. ClubLink's Responsible Alcohol Service policy is posted at each alcohol service
location and available for review. All alcohol service staff are fully trained in the proper alcohol service techniques and are
supported by management while doing so. Any violation of these policies may result in suspension or termination of
membership.
CELLULAR PHONES/MOBILE DEVICES
Cell phones are permitted on ClubLink courses and in clubhouses. Members and guests are encouraged to exercise discretion
of use such that golfing/dining experiences are not diminished for other Members and guests.
CHECK-IN
Members must check in at the golf shop prior to using the golf amenities at any ClubLink Club, and must carry their
membership card with them at all times. Members must present their membership card when making any purchases on their
ClubLink account.
DRESS CODE
Appropriate golf attire must be worn at all times, both on the golf course and in the clubhouse.
Appropriate golf course attire includes collared golf shirts, turtlenecks, or mock-neck shirts and golf slacks or golf shorts.
Shirts must be tucked in at all times unless the style of the shirt dictates otherwise. Caps can be worn with the peak forward.
Golf shoes or any athletic shoes without spikes are required while on the golf course.
Inappropriate golf course attire includes jeans of any kind, gym shorts, track or sweat suits, beach wear, ripped or frayed
clothing of any kind, shoes with metal cleats or spikes.
Jeans may be worn in the clubhouse, provided they are not ripped or frayed. If you are unsure about your attire, feel free to
speak to a manager at the Club for further direction.
HANDICAPPING
The purpose of the Golf Canada handicap system is to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of differing
abilities to compete on an equitable basis. The system provides a fair Golf Canada course handicap for each player, regardless
of ability, and adjusts a player’s Golf Canada handicap factor up or down as the player’s game changes. At the same time, the
system disregards high scores that bear little relation to the player’s potential ability and promotes continuity by making a Golf
Canada handicap factor continuous from one playing season or year to the next. A Golf Canada handicap factor is useful for all
forms of play.
Every golf club that issues Golf Canada handicap factors to its Members must appoint a Handicap Committee. The committee
is responsible for ensuring that Club Members who enter handicapped events have complied with the Golf Canada handicap
system. Your handicap factor is the number, to one decimal point, beside your name in the handicap computer in the golf shop.
Handicap factors are used to ensure, as close as possible, a level playing field for all entrants in handicapped events. (Most
Member events use the handicapping system).
To ensure that your factor accurately reflects the quality of your play, you must enter ALL the scores you make during the
active golf season into the handicap computer. (Scores can also be entered online at www.golfcanada.ca.) In the
Ontario/Quebec Region, the active season extends from April 15 to Oct. 31. Rounds played out of season in Ontario are not to
be posted. If you play outside of your provincial handicap season somewhere else where golf is in season (e.g., our Florida
Region), the scores for those rounds must also be posted. Please visit www.rcganetwork.org for more information on posting
out-of-country scores.)
It is important that you enter your scores on a timely basis, ideally immediately after each round, but no later than six days after
completing a round.
16
You must enter scores for partial rounds as well as complete rounds. If you play more than six holes but fewer than 13 holes
during a round, a nine-hole score should be posted. If you play 13 or more holes, an 18-hole score should be posted. A
procedure exists for “completing” partial rounds. If you do not know the procedure, contact one of the committee members or
the staff in the golf shop. Please ensure you adjust your score using Equitable Stroke Control. For more information on
handicaps, go to www.golfcanada.ca and click “Rules & Handicap.”
A number of Club events qualify as tournaments. Scores for these events are posted separately from regular scores. If in doubt
about the status of an event or of how to post these scores, check with either a committee member or the golf shop.
The Handicap Committee will meet regularly to review the scores you have posted. Your scores in handicapped events will be
compared to your scores in regular play. A check may be made to see that you have entered a score for all the days on which
your name appears on the tee sheets for all ClubLink courses. If discrepancies are noticed during our review, you will be
contacted by the committee for a review of your handicap factor.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the handicap chairman or the director of operations.
NON-COMPLIANCE POLICY
If Home Club Members wish to entertain Non-Home Club Members in Home Club designated tee times on Saturday, Sunday
and holiday mornings prior to 11 a.m., a 1:1 ratio of Home Club Members to Non-Home Club Members is required. In the
event a Home Club Member wishes to entertain additional Associate Club Members in an applicable Home Club designated
time, a “non-compliance fee” of $60 will be charged to the Member making the reservation.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY
Our time par is listed on our scorecards for your reference. The role of our play coordinators is to ensure a proper pace of play,
which results in a more enjoyable experience for all golfers. Please respect their role and cooperate with their efforts to ensure
an enjoyable golf experience for all.
PRACTICE FACILITY
Always check in with the golf shop prior to using the practice facilities. Please obey posted signage and stay within the space
allocated and only hit in the direction of the targets provided.
TEE IT FORWARD
By golfing from tees not suited to their driving distance, many amateur golfers end up playing yardages that, if compared
proportionately, would intimidate the best players in the world. If you’re an average male mid-handicapper playing from 6,700
yards, that’s like a PGA TOUR pro playing from 8,100 yards!
The TEE IT FORWARD initiative is aimed at helping golfers have the best possible experience on the golf course by playing
from the set of tees best suited to their abilities, determined by their average driving distance. Initiated by the USGA, PGA of
America, Golf Canada and the PGA of Canada, TEE IT FORWARD is endorsed by ClubLink because of its many benefits:
-Faster rounds, improved pace of play
-Experiencing the course at the same relative proportions a PGA TOUR or LPGA player would
-Using mid-irons for approach shots instead of hybrids and long irons
- Better and more realistic scoring
-Fewer lost balls, less time spent looking for them
-Fewer shots, less frustration
-Overall increased enjoyment of the game
17
The following are TEE IT FORWARD guidelines for selecting tees based on a golfer’s average driving distance:
Driver Distance
275 yards
250 yards
225 yards
200 yards

2,800 - 3,000 yards
2,100 - 2,300 yards
For more information on why you should TEE IT FORWARD, ask in your golf shop.
TEE-TIME CANCELLATIONS
Non-weather-related tee-time cancellations are required no less than 24 hours prior to play. To cancel a player or an entire tee
time, Members may contact LinkLine or the golf shop directly. In the event the cancellation policy has not been adhered to, a
$60 “no show” fee will be charged to the Member who made the reservation.
RECIPROCAL PLAYING PRIVILEGES
Silver Members have access to Silver, Gold and Core Daily Fee* Clubs without a reciprocal fee and subject to availability.
Silver Club Members have reciprocal access to Platinum Member Clubs for a reciprocal fee of $55 and Prestige Member Clubs
for a reciprocal fee of $80. In the event a Silver Member introduces three paying guests at one time, the reciprocal fee is
waived when playing at Prestige and Platinum Member Clubs. The reciprocal fee is also waived at Platinum Member Clubs if
the Silver Member's Club is closed the entire day for a non-Member, full-shotgun event.
Gold Members have access to Platinum, Gold, Silver and Core Daily Fee* Clubs without a reciprocal fee and subject to
availability. Gold Club Members have reciprocal access to Prestige Member Clubs for a reciprocal fee of $80. In the event a
Gold Member introduces three paying guests at one time, the reciprocal fee is waived when playing at Prestige Member Clubs.
The reciprocal fee is also waived at Prestige Member Clubs if the Gold Member's Club is closed for the entire day for a nonMember, full-shotgun event.
Prestige and Platinum Members have access to Prestige, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Daily Fee* Clubs, without a reciprocal
fee and subject to availability.

BEFORE YOU POST
What Scores Do I Post?
Incomplete or Conceded Holes
If 13 or more holes have been played, you must
enter an 18 hole score. If 7 to 12 holes have
been played, you must enter a 9 hole score. In
either case, any holes not played during your
round shall be scored as the par of the hole plus
any handicap strokes you are entitled to receive
on the unplayed holes.
If you did not complete a hole or were conceded a
stroke(s) on a hole, you must record your most likely
score for that hole. The most likely score consists of
the number of strokes already taken plus, in your best
judgment, the number of strokes that you would need
to hole out from that position more than half the time.
There is no limit to the number of unfinished holes you
may have in a round. This concept allows for you to
post scores made in Match Play where conceded
strokes are common.
Tournament Score
Should the score you are entering be designated
as a tournament score? A tournament score is a
score made in a competition organized and
conducted by a committee. The committee in
charge shall determine and announce in
advance whether a score posted from the
competition shall be posted as a tournament
score.
9 Hole Rounds
9 hole scores must be posted. A 9 hole score will be
combined with another 9 hole score that is not older
than the oldest 18 hole score in your scoring record. If
there is not another 9 hole score in your scoring
record, your 9 hole score will remain in waiting for
combination with your next 9 hole score.
Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)
Have you adjusted your gross score using Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)? ESC is the downward adjustment of
individual hole scores for handicap purposes in order to make Handicap Factors more representative of a
player’s potential scoring ability. ESC sets a maximum number that you can post on any hole depending on
your Course Handicap. There is no limit to the number of holes on which you may adjust your score.
Course Handicap
Max on any Hole
