THE FARMERS’ MARKET IS BACK
AT COLUMBUS SQUARE!
The Farmers’ Market has returned to Columbus Square
on July 7th for the second year in a row with great early
produce like squash, zucchini and black raspberries,
flowers and baked goods. One of the merchants brought
corn grown in their fields in West Jefferson, some of the
earliest corn in central Ohio.
The market, which is hosted in cooperation with the Pearl
Alley Grower’s Association, is open every Tuesday through
October 27 from 4 to 6 PM located in the same place on
the concrete pad on the north side of the Ohio Thrift Store.
While the first week
did not have a lot
of sellers but plenty
of buyers, you will
see more sellers and
more buyers each
week as the Ohio
crops ripen and
are brought to the
market, ready to sell.
The new Farm
Market banners
are up on the light
poles, and new
signs directing
drivers are placed
every Tuesday
morning on
Cleveland Avenue
and Forest Hills Boulevard to help bring customers in to
Columbus Square, the Farmer’s Market, and your stores.
The farm market generates a lot of traffic at Columbus
Square and is great exposure for your business. Make sure
your windows sparkle and your stores look their best!

PROPERTY TIPS
Have you noticed that well over 300 flowering plants have
been carefully planted around the shopping center? The
Hadler maintenance men
handled the job.
The flowers are fresh
locally grown and are from
the Foertmeyer & Sons
Greenhouse in southern
Delaware county.
• We all want a clean center and the dumpsters are the
place to start.
• Check the rear of your store and dumpster areas for
cleanliness.
• As your business increases, you may need to increase
the frequency of pick up for your trash.
• Trash and garbage must be “IN” the dumpsters and
not on the ground around it.
• Trash on the ground is a breeding ground for rats, mice
and other vermin.
The following two flyers are presented by Columbus Square Shopping Center
in the interest of community information.

Issue 1 in the upcoming August 4 special election is a proposal by the City
of Columbus to partially address the current and projected fiscal imbalance
of the City’s General Fund by increasing the tax rate on personal earned
income by 0.5% to 2.5%. Whether or not Columbus voters support Issue 1,
the outcome of this special election will have a significant impact on
Columbus residents and workers and their neighborhoods for years to come.
Join us for a moderated public discussion of Issue 1, featuring prominent
speakers presenting both sides of the issue. Sponsored by the non-partisan
Franklin County Consortium, organizer of “Meet the Candidates Forum” events
throughout central Ohio since 1991, and the Columbus Community Coalition
and supported by the Society of Professional Journalists (Central Ohio Pro
Chapter), this FREE event will provide the public with an opportunity to present
questions to speakers at the event.
