ROOKIE OF THE YEAR AWARD
The NSPITA will award a Rookie who shoots the highest
combined score in the three Championship Events at this
years State Shoot a Buckle. To qualify you cannot have
shot any registered targets (either ATA or PITA) prior
to May 16th, 2014. This award is open to anyone, regardless of age or sex who has resided in the
State of Nevada for a minimum of six months.
Welcome to the 2015
Nevada State PITA Shoot
I am pleased to announce that the 2014 PITA trap shooting season
resulted in very good participation. This year we are going with an
ALL-MONEY Shoot, no trophies. Let us know what you think of this
idea at the shoot. I would like to thank Winnemucca Trap Club, Flying Saucer Trap Club, Boulder Trap Club and Fallon Trap Club as
well as our host club Mason Valley Trap Club for helping make 2014
a success for NSPITA. All of these clubs have donated money to be
added to this year’s prize package.
Because of our success in the 2014 shooting year, NSPITA is increasing the prize to any shooter (in state or out of state) that shoots a hundred straight in the Championship Handicap Event to $1,000.00. In
the event two or more shooters shoot 100 straight the money will be
split.
In order to maintain the integrity of the 2014 Nevada State Shoot we
are limiting registration to 25 squads. The Mason Valley Trap Club
and NSPITA want to make this year’s State Shoot an enjoyable event
for everyone. Your opinions are important to us and we can’t improve
without them.
A special thank you to the City of Yerington and the businesses that generously
supported this years State Shoot. Please
take a moment to check their advertisements in this program and frequent their
businesses during your stay in Yerington. Dave Akins

The Dan Orlich Award
On July 20th, 1969 Dan Orlich won The Grand Pacific High
All Around Championship with a perfect score of 400 x 400. This was
accomplished at the PITA Grand Pacific Trapshooting Tournament
hosted by Harold’s Trapshooting Club in Reno NV. Dan is the first
shooter in trapshooting history to post a perfect 400 x 400. Dan Orlich
is also the current record holder on singles averages with his .9982 in
1968 remaining an all-time high. In doubles, Dan Orlich was the first
in history to break 100 three, four and five times. He has six of them
to his credit. Among his accomplishment, Orlich also counts the most
consecutive Champion of Champions titles. Nevada State championships number 25-ten in singles, three in handicap, five in doubles
and seven in the all-around. He has earned 10 Western Zone ATA
championships-three singles, two handicap, one doubles and four in
all-around.
Again this year we will have the Dan Orlich Award with
$500.00 going to the High All Around Champion and $100.00 to
the HAA winner in AA, A, B, C and D classes. Open to Nevada residents only.

The Nevada State PITA organization shall use the
following procedure when selecting the Nevada PITA State Team.
A selection committee shall
perform this task at the end of a PITA shooting year.
After making the announcement of the new team,
awards for this new team shall be presented during
the upcoming Nevada PITA State Shoot.
The PITA State Team shall consist of ten (10) individuals. All Nevada PITA shooters that meet the
qualification listed below shall be placed into a pool
of candidates for the State team.
They will be
ranked based on their overall target average of the
three (3) PITA disciplines
(Singles; Handicap;
Doubles). The pool’s top ten (10) individuals will
be assigned as the State Team.
To qualify for selection to the State Team, a PITA
shooter must meet the following requirements:
A) Must reside at a legal residence within the
State of Nevada at the end of the Shooting year
B) Must have a minimum of 1000 targets on record for each of the three (3) PITA disciplines. All
PITA cross-registered targets obtained from an ATA
event that are shot at a Nevada club shall count
toward this requirement.

D) Registered target requirements must include
PITA targets registered at at least three (3) different
Nevada clubs that are hosting a PITA shooting event.
It is to be noted: The club holding the State Shoot
cannot be counted as one of these clubs unless you as
a shooter attend another PITA shoot at that club
outside the State Shoot.
