Macdonald Campus Bieler Family Internship Program
Internship Program The Internship Program was
established to allow all undergraduate students the
opportunity to complete a short term internship,
prior to graduation. Additionally, they will receive
recognition of this internship from McGill on their
academic transcripts. Evaluation for the program is
based on the completion of certain academic reports
and students will receive a pass or fail noted on their
transcripts if registered in the FAES 200 course or a final grade if registered in
the FAES 300 course. The program is offered in the fall, winter and summer
semesters and interns are required to complete a minimum of 10 weeks with
their host organization.

Food safety is a multidisciplinary field aimed
at providing consumers with a high-quality
food product, free of contaminants. Food safety
has become increasingly important due to
the globalization of the food supply chain and
increased international trade. The McGill Food
Safety and Quality Program (FSQP) aims to be an
internationally-recognized centre for education,
knowledge and specialized advice relating to food safety and quality. The
McGill FSQP offers specialized training, expertise and services to support
the food industry. The FSQP offers Professional Development Workshops for
members of the food industry to address the fundamentals of food safety.
Classroom and laboratory components provide participants with formal and
hands-on training. Upcoming workshops include: Better Process Control:
Allows certification on thermal processing systems and helps companies
meet federal regulations. Food Safety for the Food Industry 1: Covers the
fundamental knowledge and core concepts of food microbiology and food
safety. Food Safety for the Food Industry 2: Introduces the fundamentals
and importance of commercially available rapid methods for detection of
foodborne pathogens, approved for use by the food industry as defined by
Canadian and US regulations. The FSQP also provides specialized services and
expertise to support the different needs of the food industry. Such services
include: -Provide expertise in project development -Help develop, evaluate
and optimize existing and new processing methods -Perform microbiological
analysis of foods -Evaluate HACCP and other quality control plans
