Acting Head’s Message
Dear Parents
This has been an extremely busy term so far and we are now approaching the close of all sporting activities for this season.
Congratulations to all our swimmers who have done exceptionally well this season. The Primary school girls and boys won the
Primary School NFS Gala and the High School swimmers achieved a 3 rd place in their NFS Gala. The Primary School and
High School girls won their section of the Inter CBC Gala with the boys achieving second place . This resulted in St Dominic’s College being the overall winners of the gala. Many of our swimmers also participated at the Bloemfontein Free State championships
and went on to swim in several finals. Eleven of our swimmers participated in the Midmar Mile and did very well.
We would like to thank Mr Shane Gaffney, our new Headmaster as of 01 April this year, for his presence at the Inter CBC Gala.
The children and staff members present were very excited to meet him and much appreciated the time and effort he made to come
and watch them swim. We look forward to Mr and Mrs Gaffney’s visit to the school on Friday 04 March where they will meet all the
staff and pupils and spend some time in each area of the school.
Both the Primary School and High School athletes have performed well at the various Athletics meetings and achieved good
results. Well done.
Our Primary School tennis and cricket players participated in the Summer Games in Boksburg and our swimmers at the St Conrad’s Gala in Klerksdorp.
Our U/15A cricket team are unbeaten so far this season and the 1st team has done very well in the league. Some outstanding results have been achieved.
Our grateful thanks must go to all the coaches, timekeepers, umpires and staff who assisted with these very busy sporting schedules. We would also like to thank all our parents for their loyal and unwaivering support.
One can read more about these sporting achievements in the pages that follow.
I would like to ask that all pupils now knuckle down to some hard studying. Focus on obtaining good academic results from the outset and this will assist in setting the tone for the rest of the year. Our matrics start their mini exams on Monday 29 February and we
wish them all the best.
I will be travelling to Cape Town to attend the CBC Headmaster’s Conference taking place from 02 – 05 March in Stellenbosch.
This is a get together of the Heads and Christian Brothers and takes place on an annual basis. It is an opportunity for all of us who
have the same mission and vision for our schools to interact and share ideas in the best interest of the children in our care.
