SMC, SMC Foundation and YOU
S
tillwater Medical Center has a strong and positive
reputation, and the work of the Foundation has helped to
build that image. The Foundation is not only an arm to
bring in resources, but also an arm to take the hospital
out to the community. The Foundation is an education
source for the community to know what the hospital is
and what it does. The Foundation has the information
and knowledge to represent SMC’s reputation accurately
and appropriately. We are a strong, positive voice
for SMC and are effective ambassadors through our
connections and networks.
The Foundation is one of the most well-known nonprofit organizations for one of the most important
resources in Stillwater and surrounding communities.
People see the Foundation as a well run organization
with clear goals; an organization that acts on and meets
those goals. We are a defined group of individuals who make connections and build relationships
for sustainable, on-going donations. We connect with key contributors and continue to build
upon that donor base. These donors understand the value of their contributions to the community
hospital.
The Foundation’s name, history and what we have brought to the hospital are well known in
the community. We have 24 active Board members who support our goals and work actively to
bring in resources. People want to be a part of this Foundation.
You are the most important part of the future for Stillwater Medical Center. This is your
hospital and all donations made are healthcare investments for you, your family and our growing
community.
I encourage you to consider an end of the year gift. Your investment large or small is guaranteed
to make a big difference for all who seek the compassionate care for which Stillwater Medical
Center is known.
Thank you for your support and blessings to you and your family during this Holiday Season.

“W
e all want to live in a successful, thriving
community. That is one of the reasons why, over
the past ten years, that Toyota has provided over
$500 million to non-profits in the U.S. I’m proud
to be associated with a company that understands
what a positive impact these organizations have,”
Juergen Janzen shared recently.
As part of its Dealer Match Program, Toyota
approved a gift of $2,500 for the SMC Foundation.
The gift is a 100% match of a donation recently
received from Janzen Toyota-Scion.
“Great care close to home is one of the things
that draw people to a community like Stillwater,”
Janzen added. “My wife, Lorrie, and I value the work of the SMC
Foundation and how our past donations have been used to benefit
patient care,”
Juergen Janzen is thanked for his generous donation to the
intensive care unit by Executive Director Teresa Hopkins.
Shultz, Foundation President, shared. “These gifts will benefit the

Do you know about the
Charitable IRA Rollover ?
If you are 70 and a half years of age or older, you can make a tax-free transfer of
up to $100,000 this year directly from your IRA account to the charity, or charities,
of your choice. Since this tax break benefit is only available until December 31,
2011, now is a great time to consider this opportunity.
When you decide to transfer a gift from your IRA to a charity, that gift will not
subject your Social Security income to higher tax levels and will count toward your
minimum required distribution.
Remember:
•
•
•
This charitable gift can only be made this year (unless Congress should decide
to pass legislation extending the benefit).
You must be at least 70 and a half years old when the gift is transferred.
The gift must be outright.
Do not delay until December to consider this opportunity. Your IRA administrator will need enough time to process your request before year end. Contact Teresa
Hopkins, Executive Director, at 405.742.5387 for more information.
