Welcome to our production of GREASE! We are so excited to share this performance with you! It has been many years since Wilson has staged a musical. Thanks to
the amazing support of Musical Theater West, Curtis Heard, our actors and our parent volunteers, we are proud to bring you an evening of theater that you won't soon
forget.
Sandy Blazer (aka Miss Lynch) & Lew Kerns
Principals
Welcome to GREASE, a joint collaboration between Musical Theatre
West and Wilson High SchoolÊs Musical Theatre Club. It was just
last year that we learned that although Wilson had a Musical Theatre
Club of almost 100 members, it had been almost ten years since the
school had produced a musical. We began meeting with 2009-2010
Club President Erin Alford, 2010-2011 Club President Andrew
Bushong and Vocal Music Director Curtis Heard to see if there was
interest in working towards a fully-produced musical. Out first meeting with the students last spring attracted 90 kids who eagerly told us
theyÊd love to do a show! Early this fall another meeting was held
and plans were launched for GREASE with MTW providing the
funds and expertise to produce the show. MTW is so proud of what the students
have accomplished during these past six weeks of rehearsal.
We are especially grateful to our Director/Choreographer K.C. Gussler and his assistant Virginia Seigler for guiding the students through this process. A special thank
you to Curtis Heard for his vision in keeping this project moving forward as well as
serving as Musical Director and Faculty Advisor. We also want to express our deep
appreciation to Ron Mahan and his crew for handling the technical needs of the
production.
A very special thank you to our friends in the community who helped raise the
funds necessary to produce this show, and especially to Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe for matching the funds raised for providing this wonderful opportunity for the students.
We also want to acknowledge the contributions of the parents who are helping behind the scenes in so many ways!
We hope you enjoy the show and appreciate the efforts of so many in making this
eveningÊs performance possible.

K.C. GUSSLER (Director/Choreographer)
K.C. is A 30-year veteran of both the theatre and film, Mr. Gussler began his formal training
in performing at the young age of seven-years-old. He began his professional career as one of
ten young tap dancing boys in the MGM film „Pennies from Heaven‰ starring Steve Martin
and Bernadette Peters. He continued his training throughout the Los Angeles area and by
sixteen was the youngest member to join the Las Vegas production of A CHORUS LINE. At
age 21 he made his Broadway debut in the 1991 Tony Award-winning revival of GYPSY starring Tyne Daly. His directing and choreographic credits include HELLO, DOLLY! for
Moonlight Amphitheatre, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF for Theatre League and the Civic Light
Opera of South Bay Cities, YOUÊRE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN for Sacramento

Company performing for Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland. K.C. choreographed and performed the show „Tap Happy Two‰ for the opening of Tokyo DisneySea

DisneyÊs California Adventure. Currently he is a resident choreographer for the Disneyland
Resort in Anaheim.
SLATER ASTLE (Kenickie) is a sophomore, enjoys performing and is excited to be in this
production of GREASE. Most recently, he played Frankie Valli in BROADWAY HITS OF
THE 2000s and Troy Bolton in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL. He was a lead singer in Rock
Band-Battle of the Bands, he sings in several choirs, and is currently a tenor in WilsonÊs
Chamber Singers. He plays the piano and enjoys video games.
ELIEZAR BERDUGO (Doody) was born on February 6, 1994 and has two younger brothers and one older sister. It wasnÊt until last year that he became interestingly involved in musical theatre. His first production was INTO THE WOODS and he had a great experience playing the Wolf and one of the Princes. HeÊs had more experience in singing since he is currently
involved in his churchÊs choir. He is excited and very proud to be part of GREASE and the
cast, and thanks the teachers and people who are helping to put up an awesome show!
SANDY BLAZER (Miss Lynch) Thanks to Mr. Heard for giving her this chance! Being a
principal is just a side job while she awaits discovery in musical theater. She is hoping that the
production of GREASE is the beginning of her quest for the Tony Award!
THOMAS BLOCKER (Roger) is a freshman. He has appeared in BYE, BYE BIRDIE,
ONCE UPON A MATTRESS and other productions at church and school. When he is not
performing on stage, Thomas enjoys singing with the Chamber Singers and with his church
choir. Thomas would like to thank his family and friends for their continued support.
KAHLO BUFFINGTON (Eugene) knows that Eugene is not the coolest guy on campus,
but heÊs still a big part of Rydell High. Eugene and he are totally different because he plays
football for Wilson and heÊs not a nerd, but theyÊre also very much alike because they both
have no fear of what people think of them.
ANDREW BUSHONG (Sonny) is a senior at Wilson, is the head of the Musical Theatre
Club, Homecoming King, and holds many other leadership positions on campus all while
maintaining a 4.3 GPA. He can currently play six instruments, sings in the choir at school,
danced for several years, and is currently in a band named „The Anachronisms.‰ One of his
dreams is to leave a legacy here at Wilson and he hopes that will be accomplished by the continuing revival of musicals here at Wilson after this year. Andrew's credits include Go
Fame's CINDERELLA (2010) (King) and OCCT's GREASE (2008) (Sonny). He would like to
thank his choir director Curtis Heard and his friend Erin Alford for their extreme dedication
to helping this show become a reality.

an amazing group of young artists. Virginia has been involved in both professional and youth
theater for the last ten years. Her recent credits include performing in MY FAIR LADY, CELEBRATE!, and THE WIZARD OF OZ all of which were with Austin Musical Theater in Texas.

Curtis Heard has been the choir director at Wilson since 1992. He is also the choir director at
First Congregational Church in Long Beach. He has been musical director and/or pianist for
many musical theater productions including ANYTHING GOES, FIDDLER ON THE

performed with Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities and the Pacific Symphony, and composed music for original productions at the REDCAT, Bootleg Theater, and California Grand
Plaza.

William is currently pursuing an MFA in Stage Management at the University of California,
Irvine, to be completed in 2012. He received his BA in Theatre from Vanguard University in

have no fear of what people think of them.
