EDITORIALE
A nome della ACO vorrei darvi il benvenuto al round
della European Le Mans Series 2016 in programma
all’Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. La
ELMS è in forte crescita e migliora anno dopo anno, con
l’introduzione nel 2015 della classe LMP3 ed ora anche con
l’aggiunta di una giornata in più ad ogni round, più gare di
supporto e con un evento aggiuntivo a Spa-Francorchamps
nel mese di settembre.
La Series Europea della Le Mans rappresenta un passo
importante nella scala delle competizioni endurance con
squadre e piloti hanno messo lo sguardo sulla possibilità di
vittoria su alcuni dei migliori circuiti in Europa e, in ultima
analisi, alla 24 Ore di Le Mans.
Ci auguriamo che lo spettacolo della ELMS vi entusiasmi
qui in Italia.

On behalf of the ACO I would like to welcome you
to round two of the 2016 European Le Mans Series
here at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino
Ferrari. The ELMS has been growing and improving
year on year with the introduction of the LMP3
class in 2015 and now an extra day at each event,
more support races and an additional event at SpaFrancorchamps in September.
The European Le Mans Series is an important step
on the endurance racing ladder as teams and drivers
set their sights on achieving glory on some of the
best circuits in Europe and, ultimately, at the 24
Hours of Le Mans.
We hope you enjoy the ELMS spectacle here in Italy.

The European Le Mans Series has always provided

compete in Europe’s leading sportscar series, and with
over 40 entries the ELMS grid is packed with talented

Azione e Spettacolo per tutta la ELMS /
Action and Drama all the Way in ELMS
Nel 2016 la European Le Mans Serie, in Italia per il secondo round della serie di sei, il primo dei
cinque eventi articolati su 3 giorni, avrà due gare di supporto, la Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup ed il
Trofeo Renault Sport R.S.01.
Il mese scorso le 4 Ore di Silverstone ha creato le premesse per una stagione 2016 della ELMS
avvincente e spettacolare. Il tempo tipicamente inglese ha giocato la sua parte. Nella mattinata del
giorno di gara è nevicato, lasciando, una volta sciolta, la pista molto bagnata per le qualifiche. La
gara è iniziata asciutta, ma l’arrivo di un acquazzone ha reso ancora più avvincente lo spettacolo.
Le difficili condizioni meteo non hanno scoraggiato un buon numero di appassionati delle corse
endurance, che si sono divertiti durante la sessione degli autografi, il pit walk ed assistendo alcuni
dei migliori intrattenimenti in pista offerti nel Motorsport europeo.
Alla fine della gara di 4 Ore, la numero 38 G-Drive Racing Gibson-Nissan di Harry Tincknell, Simon
Dolan e Giedo Van der Garde è risultata vincitrice la termine di una sfida emozionante, che ha visto
diverse vetture lottare per il comando durante la corsa di 240 minuti.
Grande festa nel box della United Autosports dato che la squadra anglo-americana ha portato a
casa una doppietta al debutto nella LMP3, con vittoria della numero 2 Ligier JS P3 di Alex Brundle,
Michael Guasch e Christian England.
I sostenitori della ELMS JMW Motorsport avevano festeggiato una durissima vittoria nella gara di
casa nella classe LMGTE ma la “corsa” non si è conclusa con l’esposizione della bandiera a scacchi.
Nelle verifiche tecniche post-gara un problema tecnico ha infatti portato alla esclusione del JMW
Motorsport Ferrari, consegnando la vittoria alla numero 99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 di
Andrew Howard, Alex MacDowall e Darren Turner.
The 2016 European Le Mans Series arrives in Italy for the second round of the six race series and
the first of the five 3-day events that will feature a regular support races from the Michelin GT3 Le
Mans Cup and the Renault Sport R.S.01 Trophy.
Last month the 4 Hours of Silverstone set the scene for a season of dramatic racing in the 2016
European Le Mans Series. The typically English weather played its part. In the morning of race
day it snowed but soon cleared to leave the track very wet for qualifying. The race started dry
but a rain shower spiced up the show. The weather didn’t put off a good number of endurance
racing fans, who enjoyed the autograph session, pitwalk and some of the best on track
entertainment on offer anywhere in European Motorsport.
At the end of the action packed 4-hour race the no38 G-Drive Racing Gibson-Nissan of
Harry Tincknell, Simon Dolan and Giedo Van Der Garde was victorious at the end of a thrilling
encounter that saw several cars challenging for the lead during the 240 minutes of racing.
It was all smiles in the United Autosports garage as the Anglo-American team took a 1-2 finish
on their LMP3 debut, with the no2 Ligier JS P3 of Alex Brundle, Michael Guasch and Christian
England. ELMS stalwarts JMW Motorsport celebrated a hard won home victory in the LMGTE
class but the drama continued long after the chequered flag had been waved. A technical issue in
post-race scrutineering led to the exclusion of the JMW Motorsport Ferrari, handing the win to the
no99 Aston Martin Racing Vantage V8 of Andrew Howard, Alex MacDowall and Darren Turner.

La LMP3 è una vettura chiusa. Il telaio e la carrozzeria
della LMP3 possono essere costruiti da sei produttori
designati da ACO: Ginetta, Ligier, Adess, Cupola,
Norma e Riley. Sono molto vicini a quelli della attuale
LMP2 (abitacolo chiuso, telaio in carbonio con roll-bar
in acciaio tubolare). Il gruppo-motore è composto da
un motore Nissan V8 aspirato di 420 CV di potenza
massima e da un cambio X-Trac. Sono identici per tutti
i telaie sono commercializzati dalla società ORECA che
fornisce anche assistenza alle squadre.
The LMP3 is a closed car. The chassis and bodywork
of LMP3 can be built by six manufacturers which have
been designed by the ACO : Ginetta, Ligier, Adess,
Dome, Norma and Riley. They are very close to those
of the current LMP2 (closed cockpit, carbon chassis
with tubular steel roll cage). The powertrain consist of
a Nissan 420 bhp normally aspirated V8 engine, and
an X-Trac gearbox. It is identical for all chassis, and
marketed by the ORECA company which also provides
specific assistance to teams.

which allows teams, as well as drivers, to gradually progress to the

La LMGTE: le vetture Gran Turismo fanno parte della tradizione delle
gare di durata. Per essere omologata, una GTE (E per Endurance)
deve essere basata su una vettura stradale,di cui siano stati
fabbricati100 esemplari (25 per un «piccolo produttore», 300 per una
vettura in telaio in carbonio). La versione «gara» deve mantenere la
forma del modello della vettura stradale da cui è derivata. Il motore
deve conservare la sua sede originaria, l’orientamento e la sua
posizione originale. Tuttavia, può essere riposizionato se sono stati
prodotti 2500 esemplari in un periodo di 12 mesi consecutivi.
LMGTE: Grand Touring cars are part of the tradition of endurance
racing. To be homologated, a GTE (E for Endurance) must be
based around a production road car of which 100 examples
have been built (25 for a “small manufacturer”, 300 for a carbon
chassis). The «race» version must retain the shape of the roadgoing model from which it is derived. The engine must retain its
original location, orientation, and its original position. However, it
may be re-positioned for cars of which a minimum number of 2500
examples are produced in a consecutive 12-month period.

Lo status del pilota / Driver Status:
La distinzione tra i piloti che compongono gli equipaggi delle quattro categorie delle vetture è la seguente: «Platinum» (professionisti
di fama internazionale), «Gold» (professionisti o semi-professionisti che si sono distinti a livello internazionale o nazionale), «Silver»
(gentleman driver che hanno vinto a livello internazionale o nazionale) e «Bronze» (gentleman driver la cui esperienza di gara è ancora
limitata).
The distinction between drivers that make up the crews of the cars of the four categories is as follows: “Platinium” (internationally
renowned professionals), “Gold” (professionals or semi-professionals who have distinguished themselves at the international or
national level), “Silver” (gentleman driver who has won at the international or national level) and “Bronze” (gentleman driver whose
racing experience is still limited).
La scala del punteggio / Point Scale:
In ogni categoria sono assegnati i seguenti punteggi: 25 punti (1 °), 18 punti (2 °), 15 punti (3 °), 12 punti (4 °), 10 punti (5 °), 8 punti
(6 °), 6 punti (7 °), 4 punti (8 °), 2 punti (10 °). Tutti i piloti classificati oltre il decimo posto riceveranno mezzo punto. Un ulteriore punto
viene assegnato per la vettura in pole position e l’equipaggio conducente.
Points are awarded in each category: 25 pts (1st), 18 pts (2nd), 15 pts (3rd), 12 pts (4th), 10 pts (5th), 8 pts (6th), 6 pts (7th), 4 pts (8th), 2 pts
(10th). All competitors classified beyond tenth place will receive half point. An additional point is awarded for the pole position car, and
the driver crew.

The Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup Begins in Italy
La nuova categoria Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup farà il suo debutto questo fine settimana
nella splendida cornice dell’ Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari. La serie
è articolata su sei round, cinque a supporto della Le Mans Series Europea più una
gara speciale di 55 minuti nella mattina della 24 Ore di Le Mans nel mese di giugno.
Una griglia altamente competitiva formata per la prima volta della Michelin GT3 Le
Mans Cup da squadre e piloti in rappresentanza di undici diverse nazioni.
La Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup è riservata a vetture conformi alle attuali norme di
omologazione FIA GT3, come la nuova Ferrari 488 GT3, e la F458, Aston Martin
V12 Vantage GT3, Audi R8 LMS, Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren 650S e tutte le
nuove Porsche 911 GT3R, anche se le squadre possono iscrivere vetture conformi
al regolamento di Case costruttrici come Bentley, BMW, Lexus, Dodge, Corvette,
Nissan e Mercedes Benz.
Ogni equipaggio di piloti sarà composto da due piloti, con il primo definito nella lista
piloti classificati FIA come “Bronze” e il secondo come “Bronze”, “Silver” o “Gold”.
E’ previsto un premio in denaro per ogni vincitore della gara e per i primi tre
concorrenti alla fine dell’anno. Inoltre è a diposizione anche un premio speciale per i
concorrenti che hanno ricevuto il minor numero di penalità nel corso della stagione.
In totale un montepremi di € 300 000.

The brand new Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup will make its race debut this weekend
in the beautiful surrounding of the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari.
The series will take place over six rounds, five alongside the European Le Mans
Series and one special 55-minute race on the morning of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
in June.
A highly competitive grid will form for the first ever Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup
encounter with eleven different nations represented by the teams and drivers.
The Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup is reserved for cars conforming to the current FIA
GT3 homologation regulations such as the new Ferrari 488 GT3, and the F458,
Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, Audi R8 LMS, Lamborghini Huracan, McLaren
650S and the all new Porsche 911 GT3R, though teams can also enter eligible cars
from manufacturers such as Bentley, BMW, Lexus, Dodge, Corvette, Nissan and
Mercedes Benz.
Each of the driver crews will consist of two drivers with the first one being classified
as bronze and the second as bronze, silver or gold as defined by the FIA driver
categorization list.
Prize money is available for each race winner and for the top three competitors
at the end of the year. There will also be a special prize for the competitors who
received the least number of penalties during the season. In total there will be a
prize fund of €300 000.
