For Youth Development
We impact families and our community by encouraging healthy choices and togetherness through our “Growing Stronger Families
Together” initiative. This free full family membership gives participants the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities and
programs while strengthening their relationships and meeting other families.
Healthy U…
Healthy U is a behavior change program that will help reduce childhood obesity through education on proper nutrition, increased
physical activity and parental engagement. Healthy U utilizes the CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) curriculum, which
teaches children that both healthy eating and physical activity is fun. CATCH will create healthy habits in childhood that can last a
lifetime! The Healthy U Program is now incorporated within our pre-school setting.
EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
The YMCA believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That’s why at
the Early Childhood Development Center we provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years in a safe, nurturing, educational and
enriching environment. Our value based program is designed to enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, social, physical and emotional growth. At the Y, children will learn through self exploration and guided discovery with the High Scope Curriculum. Through
collaboration with parents and families we provide support and strive to meet the developmental needs and temperament of each child.
We provide additional opportunities that encourage children to learn, grow and thrive including our youth sports, dance and creative
development programs.
“The open-door policy at the Y made it easy to observe the children and their teachers in various situations and I was always impressed
with how the staff handled the children. This is not always the case in a child care program and it’s a testament to the training and
guidance that you provide to your staff.”

TAKE CONTROL
YMCA DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM
Everyone needs a push, a pat on the back, and sometimes a helping hand. A little encouragement
goes a long way when you’re making big changes. The YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program will
help you make the lifestyle changes needed to reduce the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
As a participant, you will enjoy:
• A safe space where you will feel comforable sharing and learning in private.
• Making new friends. You will support each other as you all trade old habits for
healthier new ones.
• Working as a group. You don’t have to figure this out alone.
• The new energy and confidence that comes from losing weight and reducing your risk for Type 2 diabetes.
To qualify for the program, participants must be at least 18 years of age, overweight and at a
high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes or have been diagnosed with prediabetes.
Classes are scheduled throughout the year. For additional information contact
Michael Johnson at 908-249-4809 or [email protected].
IT’S ABOUT THE WHOLE PERSON
LIVESTRONG AT THE YMCA
HEALTH & WELL-BEING FOR CANCER SURVIVORS
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a small-group, 12-week program, that helps
adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following at a cancer
diagnosis at no cost. Participants will have the opportunity to regain strength,
both physically and mentally in a non-medical setting.
Caring Y staff, trained in supportive cancer care, will assist cancer survivors in
achieving goals such as building muscle mass and strength; increasing flexibility
and endurance; and improving confidence and self-esteem. In addition to
physical benefits, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA focuses on the emotional wellbeing of survivors by providing a supportive community where people impacted
with cancer can connect.
By focusing on the whole person, and not the disease, LIVESTRONG at the
YMCA helps people move beyond cancer in spirit, mind and body.
To learn more about this life changing program or for addition information
about our upcoming 12-week program, contact Lexy at [email protected]
or 908.349.9622.

Supporting Neighbors in Need
Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors
to make sure that everyone, regardless of age,
income or background, has the opportunity to
learn, grow and thrive. The YMCA Annual Campaign
financial assistance program is funded by donations
made by generous Y members, community leaders,
corporations, volunteers and staff. Can you help us
help others in our community? When you give to the
Y, your gift will have a meaningful, enduring impact
right here in our own neighborhood. Be on the
lookout at your YMCA branch on ways you
can donate or be involved with the 2016 YMCA
Annual Campaign.
