62 teams competed in ARCA on the MOVE 2011. Each team was made up of five people. Each team explored their creative side by making up a team name and those inspired names are listed on the bottom half of the page. At the 2011 rest stop celebration and fashion show, a t‐shirt decorating contest was held. The ABBEY ROASTERS flexed their team spirit and brought home 1st place. Check out their creative tees below.

Phenomenal Leadership

Elaine Solimon (right)
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. John Quincy Adams Elaine Solimon, President/Chief Executive Officer Live, Laugh, Love to Win! Elaine has participated in ARCA on the MOVE since the inception of the program. She has embraced the culture of well‐
ness and has demonstrated exemplinary leadership by modeling positive health behaviors. She has even given back to the com‐
munity by participating in the Making Strides for Breast Cancer walk with a team from ARCA. She achieved great success in 2011 by joining the 300‐plus mile club and contributed many miles to her teams overall eleventh place finish (62 teams par‐
ticipated). She has been a wonderful supporter of the Health and Wellness Team. Thank you for being a role model of excellence. Live, Laugh, Love Teammates: (left to right) Jeanette

Breast Cancer Walk with ARCA team
The ARCA Health and Wellness Team would like to extend their deep appreciation and gratitude to Bernadette Mares, Joni Pompeo and Ida Pena from Presbyterian. The Presbyte‐
rian Health Plan has been a generous contributor and supporter of the ARCA Health and Wellness Program. This year they generously donated beautiful back packs for all participants and printed this yearbook as an in kind contribution. Thank You! Winner: Janie Jackson
Janie is the most inspirational ARCA on the MOVE
participant to me because in the middle of this competition she was diagnosed with a serious health
problem and had to begin treatment but she never
quit her walking routines! She has refused to let
her diagnosis define her and has been incredibly
upbeat. Janie has been so strongly determined to
be amazingly positive, even on those days following
her treatment which has been tough for her.
Janie’s continued walking has probably contributed
to her great mood and outlook, and all of this will
definitely help her through this health problem.
Thank You, Debbie Redhouse
Honorable Mention
I would like to nominate Yacoub Hussein
for the Most Inspirational Award. Yacoub
always makes time to take care of himself. He realizes that he must maintain his
physical and mental health in order to provide quality care for the individuals.
Yacoub always has a positive attitude and
a smile on his face; he has a great way of
using humor to motivate the people
around him. He consistently encourages
the individuals and his coworkers to exercise and reminds us all how important it is
to be well. Yacoub’s natural optimism is
infectious. He has embraced the ARCA
spirit of Wellness; he teaches by example
and is a positive inspiration to everyone
around him.
Yacoub has inspired me to walk every
evening and take walking breaks at work.
He sets friendly positive competitions and
makes walking fun. The amount of time I
spend walking has increased significantly.
I feel more energetic and have noticed
feeling less stressed. This has been a
great experience for me.
Thank You, Penny Chavez
Honorable Mention
I am recommending Sarah
Knowlton to be the most inspiring walker. Sarah encourages
all to walk no matter what fitness level they are at. She will
slow down or speed up to walk
at the same pace as her walking mates. She is nonjudgmental when coworkers or
individuals express their unhealthy choices, but continues
to promote healthy activities.
Sarah prompts coworkers and
individuals to walk through out
the year not only for ARCA on
the move. She is an exceptional
role model; individuals have
commented to me that they see
Sarah walking almost every
day. Sarah truly is an inspiring
walker.
Thank You, Lee Ann Major
Other Nominees: Angela Tate, Dea Renfro, Naomi Serna‐Olander, Jessica Sisneros. “ … when I think of Christy, I think of someone who isn’t going to let the team down, she’s determined to learn and accomplish new things all the time. I’m proud of her and I hope she is proud of herself too”! Melissa Wright, Training Nation Team Member My name is Christy Pina. I have worked at ARCA for almost three years in the training department. While I have always been a very active person, this is the first time I was a contender against others for first place. My family was a great inspiration in this quest. Taking first place felt good but knowing that today my family and myself are healthier because of all the walking we did is the real prize. Pictured: Melissa Wright (left) Christy Pina (right)
Christy walked over 1225 miles and set a new record for the farthest distance traveled. This is an average of 12 miles per day. This is equivalent to walking from Albuquerque, NM to Madison, WI. Pictured: Training Nation Team t-shirts for annual
t-shirt decorating contest.

—————— Individual Receiving Services 1st Place Winner! ——— was determined to win 1st Place and accomplished this feat by riding his bike, exercising on the elliptical in his home, and any opportu‐
nity he had he would walk around the community. ——‐‐ traveled over 800 miles throughout ARCA on the Move! He said he was determined to win the I‐pod Nano. On the days he did not feel like exercising, he said the 1st prize inspired him to keep moving. Way to go! ARCA has been a generous supporter of employee efforts
to remain healthy, physically active and fit. A GREAT benefit
of beginning an ARCA Employee
is to have the opportunity to take 2 fifteen minute walking breaks
throughout the work day.
At the mid-point of the ARCA on the move competition,
ARCA Employees had the option to attend a health fair to have
their cholesterol, blood pressure, and BMI assessed! Way to go ARCA.
Thank you supporting us!
Rebecca Hall
Finishes In 3rd Place Overall and Improves Her Health
Rebecca shared her story with the wellness team about her success with ARCA on
the Move. In high school I was a size 4. The first two years of college I
remained the same size. Then tragedy struck and I lost my best friend John.
I began to emotional eat and my weight shot up to 200 pounds. I did ARCA on
the MOVE for 2 years consecutively. By the second year, I dropped from a size
18 to a size 8. I walked my dogs, did Pilates, yoga and ran 3 to 9 miles per week.
I really was cognizant of eating healthy. Thanks to ARCA on the MOVE
I am happier, healthier and five dress sizes smaller.
