BURLINGTON COUNTY AREA AGENCY ON AGING
AGING & DISABILITY RESOURCE CONNECTION (AAA/ADRC)
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES (609) 518-4793 APS investigates reports of suspected abuse,
neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults living in the community. APS will identify and
arrange services that can help the vulnerable person. Services are provided by the Board of
Social Services.
ASSESSMENT/OPTIONS COUNSELING (609) 265-5069 Intake Social Worker will complete an
assessment that will determine the most appropriate services for the individual and can
identify those most at risk of nursing home placement.
CONGREGATE MEALS (609)702-7053 A hot meal is served along with activities in
Bordentown, Beverly, Mt. Holly, and Moorestown.
HOMEMAKER/HOME HEALTH SERVICES Support is provided to the senior for the
performance of personal care activities and light household tasks related to maintaining health.

INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE (609) 265-5069 Staff provides current information on
services available and links individuals to services and opportunities. Information is provided
to adults with physical disabilities age 18 and older, family caregivers and residents age 60
and older.
MEALS-ON-WHEELS (609) 702-7053 A nutritional meal is provided to older
persons in their homes who are aged 60 or over, homebound and are unable to
prepare their own meals. Client assessments determine eligibility.
MONEY MANAGMENT (609) 894-9311 x 1358 Bill paying service that assists with
budgeting, processing of routine bills, check writing and reconciling bank accounts. Services
are provided by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
OUTREACH (609)265-5069 Presentations are planned throughout the year.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY/SENIOR FITNESS (609) 543-6200 Planned and structured activities are
designed to improve or maintain a senior’s physical health. Activities promote the overall
wellness of the participant. Services are provided by the YMCA of Burlington and Camden
County.
RESIDENTIAL MAINTENANCE (609) 265-5796 Provides housing improvements which may
deter crime for eligible older persons whose health and safety are threatened. Services are
provided by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department.
SENIOR FARMER’S MARKET PROGRAM, STATE OF NJ
Burlington County Freeholder Director, Mary Ann O’Brien and the
Office On Aging are working with the NJ Senior Farmer’s Market
Program to provide our residents with vouchers to buy locally grown
produce. Residents at least 60 years old, who live in Burlington County,
and are income eligible, may be able to receive vouchers to purchase
locally grown fruits, vegetables and herbs from our local Farmer’s
Market. There are a limited number of vouchers which are valid for the
2015 growing season only. There is no guarantee that enough vouchers
will be available for all applicants. Proof of residency and age are required. Telephone the

(877) 222- 3737. The Program is only available June to September of each year, subject to
funding..
SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANCE (609) 265-5945 Legal advice/assistance is provided on a case
by case basis by a lawyer in areas such as public entitlements, health care/long-term care,
housing/utilities, wills and individual rights. Human Services Department, Office of Senior
Legal Services.
SOCIAL DAYCARE/RESPITE (856) 234-5999 Provides the caregiver some relief from the
demands of caregiving. Services are provided by The Tender, a Social Adult Day Program.
TRANSPORTATION TO CONGREGATE MEALS (609) 702-7053 Transportation is provided on
a limited basis to participants of the congregate meals program. Sen-Han Transit
provides this service to three locations.

The Caring Boutique is a service offered in conjunction with American
Cancer Society, and is available to all women in the community. The
Boutique offers a variety of items including: free wigs and permanent

LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER PROGRAM
Service:
This free public service program helps women undergoing cancer treatment
learn to cope with appearance–related side effects of treatment and regain a
sense of self-confidence and control over their lives. The program was
founded by the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (CTFA)
Foundation and is offered in partnership with the ACS and the National
Cosmetology Association. Licensed volunteer cosmetologists who are
certified in the program teach women how to enhance their appearance using
makeup techniques and how to disguise hair loss using wigs, turbans, and
scarves. Each woman receives make-up donated by CTFA cosmetic industry
and samples to take home.

CONTINUING CARE RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES
A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) provides housing, services and health care
(including long-term care) to people of retirement age. The community must provide increasing
levels of care beginning with independent living. CCRCs offer a contract that is signed when
the person first enters the community. The type of services provided depends upon this

Free Home Security Inspections are performed by trained Sheriff’s staff to

Persons-At-Risk Program - The Sheriff’s Department can register important
emergency information for any senior who may suffer from Alzheimer’s, Dementia,
Autism or any other disability that may cause them to wander from their home and be
unable to return home safely. The information and a photograph provided by the
family is entered into the confidential law enforcement records system available to
law enforcement & 911 dispatchers.
Project Lifesaver Program provides wristband worn radio transmitters to Persons-AtRisk clients who may wander. The Sheriff’s Department is among the 21 Sheriff Depts. in
New Jersey who are partners in this valuable program. Should a client be reported
missing, the Sheriff or one of our local law enforcement partners in Burlington County
will respond with emergency tracking equipment to help the client return home safely.
Senior Police Academy is a 6-week, 1-day per week program that provides seniors
with valuable information on crime prevention, consumer fraud, public health
issues, fire safety, information on court services and all other senior services
provided by the Sheriff’s Department. Site visits to the county 9-1-1 center and
police range are included in this informational course.
Veteran ID Cards are provided to any military veteran who has been honorably
discharged from any branch of the armed forces. Appointments may be
scheduled by calling the Sheriff’s Department or by going to the county store at
the Moorestown Mall the last Wednesday morning of each month.
Defensive Driving Course is a free 6-hour instructional course to help make
drivers safer on the roadway. A $10 fee is required for the National Safety Council
certificate, which can provide a 5% discount toward your car insurance and up to 2
points off your driver’s license.

Veterans who were honorably discharged from active service during a time war may claim real
estate tax deductions of $250 on their principal place of residence. There are no income
limitations. Under certain conditions, permanently and totally disabled war veterans or their
surviving spouse may be granted a full property tax exemption on their principal place of
residence. An application for the deduction must be filed with the Municipal Tax Assessor and
will continue in force from year to year without the necessity for further claim. A qualified
taxpayer may claim both the Senior Citizens/Disabled Property Tax Deduction and the Veteran’s
