NEW MEMBER PROFILE:
Ben Breadmore
TOWN MANAGER OF HOLDEN, MAINE
Ben Breadmore has been serving as the Town
Manager of Holden for the last 15 months, after
working in Code Enforcement for the City of Brewer
for over 4 years.
At 27 years old, Breadmore is one of the
youngest Town Managers in Maine, as well as
being a fully certified Code Enforcement Officer. He
grew up in Ware, Massachusetts and graduated
from the University of Maine with a degree in Public
Administration and minors in Public Policy and
Education.

What brought you to Maine
from Massachusetts?
My grandfather grew up in
Grand Lake Stream. I have fond
memories of spending summers
there fishing. When it came time to
apply to colleges, I only applied to
one, The University of Maine. It
drove my mother nuts that I was only
applying to one college. But to me,
UMaine was the only place worth
going. I had a great experience. I
even got to drive the Zamboni in the
Alfond Arena for 3 years.
Enforcement for a while. That led to
a full-time job. When Holden was
looking for a Town Manager I
decided to apply. My experience in
Code Enforcement and education in
Public Administration was a good fit.

Happy February!
January was a very busy month for the Chamber
staff and volunteers with our Annual Breakfast and
Annual Awards Dinner. A huge thank you to all of
you who made those events possible including our
sponsors, volunteers and all of you who attended.
Congratulations to our awardees. You make us so
proud to be part of this region!
As I begin my second month on the job as your
President and CEO, I want to take a moment to thank
everyone who has made this transition such a smooth
one! The awesome Chamber staff who made me feel
like part of the family from day one, our Board Chair,
Renee Kelly, who has been available (day and night)
to answer all of my questions and all of you who have
offered kind words of support and encouragement. I
am honored to be serving the Chamber in this capacity
and excited about the future of our region and the
Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce.
That future is about you! Going forward we will
be doing more to shine the light on you, our members,
and all of the great things you are doing to make our
communities and region a great place to live, work,
learn and play. You will see that change in this
P R O G R A M U P D AT E S
newsletter as we devote the cover to sharing the story
about a Ben Breadmore, Holden’s Town Manager.
This month we will be sending out a survey to ask
your opinion, thoughts and recommendations about
how the Chamber can best support you and how we
can work with you to grow our region. We want to
know what we are doing well and what we can do
better.
Your opinion will help drive the future of this
organization and the shape of our region. Please

Why have you decided to stay in Maine?
The quality of life can’t be beat. There is no place
we’d rather live to raise our future family. We want to
live in a place where we know our neighbors and
where members of the community help each other out.
I moved to Holden in 2010 and moved my mother
up from Massachusetts. Later on, my now fiancé,
Chelsey moved in with me. She is from Baileyville,
Maine and works at the Lucerne Inn as an event
planner.
What do you do for fun?
Chelsey and I have embarked on a mission to visit
every town in Maine and get a photo in front of the
Town Office or a local watering hole. It’s a great way
to have a road trip with a purpose. We estimate there
are 491 towns and plantations to visit. We have a ways
to go!

What would you say to other young people
who want to live and work in Maine?
There are opportunities here. It’s important to build
relationships and network. That is how I ended up with
my first job.

What would you like people to know about
Holden?
We’re growing! New homes are going up and new
businesses are coming in. We’re creating opportunities
for economic growth with our business park and other
efforts to bring more business to the town, while still
preserving the more rural aspects of our community.
Holden is home to the “Grand Lodge of Maine” for
all Masons. It used to be in Portland, but Holden is a
more central location for its members. They have
become a great part of the community, opening the first
public library in Holden, completely funded with private
support.
