Moja Safari Wilderness will launch with our new product – Moja Explore – mobile walking and canoeing safaris in September 2008. Below is an excerpt from Africa Geographic June 2007: Emerging from the Shadows, Niassa National Re‐ serve – which really defines exactly why Niassa is so very special. A surprisingly large number of places in Africa, eager to draw tourists, claim the title ‘the last great wilderness’. A dwindling number is justified in doing so, and among those is Niassa Na‐ tional Reserve in the remotest corner of Northern Mozambique. In his year‐long ‘Mega Flyover’ across Africa in 2004, world con‐ servation society conservationist Mike Fay highlighted Niassa as one of the continent’s ‘last wild places’. Some points to know about Moja Safari Wilderness: • Moja Safari Wilderness is one of the first ecotourism conces‐ sions within the Niassa Reserve. Niassa Reserve’s 42 000 square kilometers make it Mozambique’s largest reserve, twice the size of Kruger National Park and one of Africa’s largest conservation areas. www.oneafrica.co.za ‐ The website is currently under construction but should be launched in next 2 weeks. However there is a holding page in place which you can check out at www.mojasafariwilderness.com Moja is an excellent experience to combine with other Mozambique eco‐ lodges in the area such as Nkwichi Lodge ‐ www.mandawilderness.org, Ibo Island Lodge – www.iboisland.com and then there are loads of lovely is‐ lands in the Quirimbas Archipelago. All of the above lodges – Nkwichi, Moja and Ibo all have a strong eco, responsible and cultural/community offering and this coupled with a total relax at one of the beautiful islands – would be a perfect Northern Mozambique experience. Contact : Natalie at Dana Tours [email protected] or + 258 82 326 6470. • Moja (as we are known to our friends) is based along the banks of the magnificent Lugenda River, which meanders 360 kilometers through the reserve, unconstrained by dams or agri‐ culture, it is possibly Mozambique’s wildest and most pristine major river. • Moja offers guests the ability to pioneer, explore and experi‐ ence Niassa and this extraordinary region through luxury mobile safaris (predominately walking & canoeing) with highly quali‐ fied, passionate guides. All our mobile safaris are intimate and personal with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6 guests. The exciting news is the we open in September this year! • Moja offers up market responsible safaris that provide a realis‐ tic, hands‐on insight into one of Africa’s true wilderness areas by way of direct involvement in meaningful, relevant and sustain‐ able community and conservation‐based projects in the Niassa Reserve • Moja allows its guests to investigate the true origins of the term safari. A term adopted by the sport hunting & com‐ mercial tourism cultures in the early to mid 20th century to describe the experience of setting out on a wild adventure into deepest darkest Africa. It has since evolved to describe any travel into Africa. But its origins are from the Arabic word safa, broadly translated as a coming‐of‐age adventure or rite of pas‐ sage that was expected of all men upon reaching maturity. The safa usually involved an extended journey into the unknown world. A Moja experience unwraps this much‐misused term, safari, and really gets to the heart of the concept of a safari adventure being a unique yet essential experience. We provide a feeling of being part of something, not just a place where you observe & sleep, but a place where you feel like you are an inte‐ gral part of the story unfolding around you. For this is the secret of Africa’s wild places, and is at the core of our origins as a spe‐ cies on this continent. • Moja Safari Wilderness is inspired by One Africa. One Africa believes the future of the safari industry lies in ensuring sustainable relationships between man & the environment. Essentially One Africa explores the holistic synergy of land, wild‐ life & people as a sustainable commercial solution to large‐scale wilderness management in Africa. Moja Safari Wilderness in the Niassa National Reserve is a key and fundamental project for One Africa, hence its name – Moja – meaning ONE in Swahili. The Frelimo Maputo City Committee met all day to decide on the candidates for mayor and municipal assembly in the 19 November local elections. When the results were announced on Friday night it was clear that not only had Comiche’s bid for a second term as mayor been rejected, but that he had suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of his main rival, the Minister of Youth and Sport, David Simango. Simango won the Frelimo nomination with 53 votes (67 per cent) to only 25 votes for Comiche.. A third candidate, Generosa Cossa, the current chairperson of the municipal assembly, only picked up one vote. The City Committee also elected 66 candidates for membership of the new Municipal Assembly”. Borebull pups ready approx 20 September 08 - Tails docked, fully vaccinated Mt6,500 each.
