Access to the library’s online catalog as well as regional and statewide collections is available from the library’s website. You may log into your account to reserve and renew materials. You can also use various databases provided at www.mel.org. The library staff keeps a list of important websites on their webguide under the Reference Button. A trained MI-sbTdc business counselor is available for one-on-one business counseling. Our counselors travel throughout the BRC network and have regularly scheduled days when they are at each location. Library or chamber staff can help you set up an appointment. Business Seminars. In addition to monthly “How to Start a Business” seminars, there are other training and seminar programs designed for entrepreneurs that are held throughout the BRC network. Our BRC has lots of resources and materials that can help you! We also have a great BRC website with quick links to many tools and materials that entrepreneurs need as they develop their business and/or idea. There is no exact formula for putting a business plan together. It can be as simple as handwriting on a “yellow tablet” or more involved and “professional looking” depending on who you plan to show it to. Whatever the format, there are a number of “specific topics” that should be covered: • Executive Summary • Management • General Description • Legal • Products and Services • Finances • Marketing • Operations There are books at this BRC that will help you understand each part of a business plan so you can organize your ideas. Visit the BRC website for easy to use business plan templates. Once you’ve roughed in your ideas, there are (free and confidential) business counselors available to help you finetune and complete your business plan. Just Ask!
