About De Alba Bakery
Our Heirloom Hispanic Family Business
At De Alba Bakery, we believe that the only way to create a better future is to honor the
past. For us, this means preparing traditional breads, cakes, tortillas and tamales enriched
by our vibrant Mexican heritage. In all that we do, we remember “de la familia” – foods
prepared for you using the same love and care with which we feed our own.
Each De Alba product is baked with time-consuming methods, uncompromising standards
and traditional techniques that are not taught in any culinary school. We are committed to
preparing every dish you order using fresh, organic ingredients and a tangible touch of soul.
These are recipes handed down from our grandmother and her modest Mexican kitchen –
recipes we now serve at our four Texas locations, each one bursting with unconditional love.

About Ana De Alba
Granddaughter, Daughter and CFO
Trays of pan dulce and other Mexican baked
goods cool on metal racks, flour-dusted
Mexican chefs craft traditional cakes,
tamales sit on the counter waiting to be
steamed as the sun is just starting to rise.
Overseeing it all is Ana De Alba.
Heading up the team of Mexican chefs who
run De Alba Bakery is a family tradition –
one passed down from mother to daughter
to granddaughter. Today, Ana manages the
de la familia business, just as her mother
did before her, and her grandmother before
that; ensuring that De Alba Bakery remains
connected to the members of Texas’ Rio
Grande Valley community. She has been
CFO of the De Alba Bakery since 2006 when
she took over leadership of her parents’
heirloom family bakery; and while today
Ana has visions of a nationwide business,
her ambitions started years ago when she
was working as a cashier.
There were years and multiple jobs between
her first taste of working for family at De
Alba Bakery and 2006 when Ana took up her
current position as CFO; but she took her
mother’s de la familia philosophy
everywhere she went. For Ana, this meant
treating each customer and co-worker as
family and working as hard as if she were
working for her parents.
Tradition, Rising.
Having graduated from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 1999 with a degree
in finance, Ana now pursues her true passion – preserving artisanal traditions in the
De Alba Bakery kitchens. She’s not only the CFO, but the head Mexican chef
safeguarding years of Hispanic culinary traditions.
“For Ana, the heirloom
baking secrets,
humility and a “for
family” philosophy
that have always been
an integral part of the
business”
Today, Ana has taken these skills – her exacting standards
for organization and communication paired with her drive
and her passion for efficiency – and is revolutionizing her
family business and its team of artisanal Mexican chefs.
Ana envisions an operation that allows her to share love
through baked goods with the entire country, on a national
level – a once distant dream that is quickly becoming a
reality.
For Ana, the heirloom baking secrets, humility and a “for family” philosophy that
have always been an integral part of the business remain the most important
elements of De Alba Bakery. She and her family believe good foods and traditions
should be shared; and they are doing just that with every meal De Alba Bakery
prepares.

Arturo De La Cruz – General Manager
Arturo is a University of Texas student specializing in accounting. His
first job in 2006 was with De Alba Bakery, and he took the
opportunity seriously and eagerly began learning the ropes. Arturo
began as a cashier and has flourished throughout the years through
hard work and a willingness to learn. Today, he is now General
Manager of De Alba Bakery, as well as the store manager for the
Mission location.
When asked why he has stayed working with De Alba Bakery for so
many years, Arturo states, “I’ve been given a rare opportunity which
has afforded me knowledge and provided me with confidence in my
innate abilities. The rewards are immeasurable and I am deeply
grateful for the chance to work with such great people.”
Monica Moreno – McAllen Store Manager
Monica has received a Bachelor’s degree in social work, with interest
in a second degree in business and finance. Monica has been working
with De Alba Bakery from August of 2006 to the present, where she
now manages the flagship McAllen location.
When asked why she has remained working at the bakery after
graduating from college, Monica states, “I enjoy coming to work every
day and providing our customers with the most delicious Hispanic
cakes and pastries that are prepared with love in a family tradition
[…] I can’t see myself leaving.”
Tanya De Alba – Edinburg Store Manager
Tanya began working at De Alba Bakery at the young age of 13,
helping her mom with odd jobs and learning the family business. She
ventured out and got a job at a local Game Stop working as a cashier
and customer service agent. This job, however, lasted only two
weeks; and she quickly discovered that her loyalties lay in the family
business and went back to working with her mom.
Tanya went from doing odd jobs within the bakery to working as a
cashier. She found this position invigorating, continuing to invest in
her commitment to the family business until she became the
Edinburg store manager – a position she still holds today. When
asked why she remains so committed to the family business, Tanya
stated, “I loved seeing customers smile and walk away with our
delicious, hand-made pastries and cakes […] It gives me such an
enormous sense of pride knowing that our loyal customers are the
reason we exist.”
