PREAMBLE The Children’s Ministry Association is an association of children’s evangelists and teacher training ministers recommended by the General Sunday School Division of the United Pentecostal Church International for the purpose of promoting children’s ministry by organizing interaction between ministers, by increasing ministry opportunities, and by providing encouragement and ministry enhancement. Membership with the association will be renewed every four years and will require the recommendation of the minister's district superintendent and pastor. If a pastor’s recommendation is not applicable, the presbyter’s recommendation will be required. 4 Published by the General Sunday School Division United Pentecostal Church International 8855 Dunn Road, Hazelwood, Missouri 63042 2007 CHILDREN’S EVANGELIST AND TEACHER TRAINING DIRECTORY FOREWORD As doctors, scientists, and educators learn more about the human brain and the development of childhood intelligence, they are proving the Word of God to be true. “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). The more we learn the more we realize the importance of the childhood years. Even though children come into the world pre-wired in many ways, their behavior and mindset are greatly influenced by their environment. Children need to hear biblical preaching and teaching on a level they can understand. They need someone who can reach them before they are contaminated by worldly philosophies. God instructed the Hebrews to tend to this urgent need by teaching His law to their children. “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children” (Deuteronomy 6:7). This directory will help you more effectively reach the children under your care. We have a number of men and women who have dedicated themselves to this ministry. Bringing these evangelists to minister in your church will provide the impetus needed to evangelize your children. The teacher training instructors will provide exhortation, inspiration, training, and modeling to assist your staff to be more effective in reaching all ages with the wonderful Word of God. Some in this directory do evangelism as well as teacher training. — Gary D. Erickson Notice the symbols at the top of each page. This will help you quickly identify the ministry of each entry. The flame indicates children’s evangelist and the apple indicates teaching ministry. = Evangelist = Teacher This project is made possible through Save Our Children funds. 6 CHILDREN’S EVANGELIST AND TEACHER TRAINING DIRECTORY Kirk Aikey PHONE: CELL: FAX: E-MAIL: 14700 Whirlaway Way Midlothian, VA 23112-1518 (804) 271-9371 (804) 216-9371 (703) 783-8940 [email protected] • Effective Follow-up and Visitation • Contests and Promotions • The Priest of Your Home • Having an Exciting Children’s Church • Creative Teaching • Recruiting and Keeping Volunteers • Creating Children Who Are Ministers • Bus Ministry • Spiritual Development Full Time Nature of Evangelistic Ministry: Puppets, illustrative preaching Subjects Taught: • Abuse Prevention • Praying with Children • Teacher Certification • Accountability in Ministry • Avoiding Teacher Burnout Bruce J.
