Artist Katherine Shaughnessy brings
her fun, brightly colored abstract designs
to needlework— offering today’s hip,
young crafter something cool to stitch.
Available in her new collection of crewel
embroidery kits from Bucilla®, these fresh
designs are both eye-catching and easy
to complete. Small 4" x 4" finished size
is great for turning stitched pieces into
decorative pillows, framed art, elegant
cards and more.
Each kit includes: Stamped 28 ct.
off-white Evenweave fabric, wool yarn,
4" plastic hoop, needle and tri-lingual
instructions.

She's been sewing ever since, on
items from custom drapery and
embroidered pillowcases to stitched
greeting cards and silk wedding
dresses. Katherine attended Miami
University of Ohio, where her hand
sewing found its way into both her
paintings and sculptures. She
continued her study of the fine
arts in the Fiber Department at
the School of the Art Institute
of Chicago. Now living in the
mountains of far west Texas,

Katherine’s artwork continues to
emphasize stitching and embroidery.
In 2004 she launched a line of
contemporary designs for crewel
embroidery kits as the company
Wool & Hoop. Katherine is on a
mission to bring crewel embroidery
back to life, as a way to teach both
young and old the needle arts.
