FDG shielded
glove box CORIAN®
Evolution
Réf. 02010034
Principle
Providing both radiation shielding and a clean controlled
working environment, this ventilated shielded glove box
from Lemer Pax is designed for safe handling of high energy
isotopes (up to 511 KeV) during dose drawing, tagging or
calibrating.
The unit comprises a shielded glove box with two additional shielded cupboards underneath, one for housing a
generator or dose vial and the other for a dose calibrator.
The 40 mm* thick lead walls provide excellent radiation
protection for the operator, whilst the 80 mm* thick lead
glass provides superb visibility, whilst maintaining shielding. Lead shutters close off the glove ports when not in
use. A large 40 mm shielded door on the side provides easy
access for cleaning. A shielded pass through is also provided for removal of the final product. Even when used with
50 mCi of F18 or 100 mCi of I131**, the external dose
rate is less than 2.5 mR/Hr (25 µSv/Hr).
Underneath, the shielded cupboard can contain an optional
mechanical elevator for introduction of a generator or lead
pot into the main cell. On the other side another shielded
cupboard is provided for easy integration of a dose calibrator.
The interior of the glove box is lined with CORIAN ®, a
hygienic anti bacterial material with seamless joins for ease
of decontamination and cleaning. An integral UV light is
provided for sterilisation and an optional air filtering system
maintains internal air quality at Grade C or better.
Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006.
* Standard thickness (other on request).
** Source located at the center of the lead area.

Remote control
extraction device for
FDG
Réf. POSIDOSE
Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006.
Principle
Posidose enables the extraction of a single dose
of FDG from a multidose vial into a shielded
syringe, ready for use.
The entire operation is controlled remotely,
ensuring absolute safety and minimising radiation exposure for the operator.
In use, the shielded vial is clamped into the
lower portion of the unit. A shielded syringe with
needle is clipped into place above it. Rotating
a single external handle inverts the complete
assembly, whilst simultaneously causing the
syringe needle to puncture the stopper on the
vial. A second handle operates the syringe
plunger, enabling the operator to withdraw the
required volume into the syringe. Large, highly
visible, graduated scales are provided for
either 5 cc or 10 cc syringes. The complete
assembly can then be re inverted and the filled
shielded syringe removed, ready for use.
The Posidose fits easily into the Lemer FDG
shielded glove box or other shielded cell, with
the controls mounted externally. Simple
mechanical connection reduces the risk of failure associated with more complex electrical
mechanisms.

FDG syringe
shield
Type PSW
Type PSWG
Principle
This tungsten syringe shield, with sliding shielded
cover, provides improved protection when handling
high energy radiation emitters such as I131 (360KeV)
or F18 (511 KeV), reducing radiation dose to both
hands and body.
The combination of a 6 mm thick tungsten body and
9 mm tungsten shield on the piston side provides a
high degree of all round attenuation, whilst the 1mm
thick plastic lining stops beta radiation and errant
bremstrahlung. A tungsten cone at the front minimises
radiation leakage.
Two quick lock systems hold the syringe and plunger
securely inside the shield whilst a milled button can
lock the syringe piston in position.
An optional high density lead glass window, 8 mm
thick, allows easy reading of syringe contents.

To complement the high energy syringe shield (Ref. PSHE), the easy slide-on patented design tungsten
plunger shield prevents radiation from leaking out of the back of the syringe shield, making for safer
drawing and injection of doses.
The 5 mm of tungsten reduce hand exposure by 70 %.

Tungsten FDG
transport containers
Réf. CTTW
Principle
The tungsten FDG transport containers allow safe
handling of the FDG vials during the different operations of transport and storage in order to protect both
the operator and the environment from the contamination and exposition of the isotope radiation. These
containers are perfectly protected from leaks by design.
The protection against isotope radiation is accomplished
through the exclusive use of tungsten (thickness 20 mm
lead equivalence 30 mm), in order to get outside an
extremely low and homogenous exposition rate during
all phases of use.
The choice of the tungsten as a biological protection is
to improve the volume and the mass in order to facilitate the handling for the operators and improve the fire
resistance.
This protection is calculated for a maximal activity of
20 mCi of FDG in the container and an equivalent rate
of absorbed dose of 25µSv/h (2.5 mrem/h), at 20 cm of
the system and of 10µSv/h (1.0 mrem/h), at 33 cm of the
system.
The container has two opening possibilities:
- complete opening for the loading / unloading of the 30 ml
vial;
- extremity opening that allows the way through of a
needle in the vial in order to do the fractionating operations by limiting the exposition of the operator to the
radiations.
This container has a plastic adapter that allows to
adjust the inside diameter of the container to the different vial type.
Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006.

Manual
remote- controlled
FDG injection shielded
system
Principle
The manual remote-controlled FDG injection shielded system from Lemer Pax allows to protect the operators during
the isotope injection, when connected to the patient by a
catheter, by using the manually activated remote system
behind a protective screen. The syringe, in its tungsten
syringe-shield (Ref. PSW5 or 10), is vertically introduced
in a 30 mm lead shielded safe. The syringes that can be
used with this system have a capacity of 5 or 10cc exclusively. The protection is calculated for a maximum FDG
activity of 20 mCi in the syringe and an equivalent rate of
the absorbed dose of 25µSv/h (2.5 mrem/h), at 10 cm of the
system and of 10µSv/h (1.0 mrem/h), at 16 cm of the system.
Outside of the safe, a support allows to hang up a NaCl sac
(the NaCI is used to rinse the catheter after the FDG injection).
The whole of this equipment is integrated in a trolley with
casters in order to move it from the preparation lab to the
injection place.
This trolley has two shelves made of a very resistant and
hygienic material without join which can be very easily
decontaminated (CORIAN®). A serum stand can be added.

Réf. CHT
Principle
The transport trolleys of Lemer Pax with an additive lead protection are designed to reduce the
contact of the doses for the users and their environments when they have to carry radioactive products doses to their use place. The additive protection in lead (thickness 30 mm), accessible by a

ACAD 2000
dose calibrator
Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006.
Principle
The ACAD 2000 calibrator provides a simple and accurate way of measuring the activity both in
curies (Ci) and becquerels (Bq) of radioiscopes emitting gamma ray. Its main use is the calibration
of the radiopharmaceutical doses injected to patients in nuclear medicine imaging.
ACAD 2000 system is composed by a well chamber detector optionally equipped with the up and
down sample holder device “posilift“ and a remote control electronic unit equipped with a touch
screen panel that allows the operator to navigate in the different functions of the software.
Each calibrator is delivered with a calibration certificate which garantees that the instrument had
been calibrated, before delivery, according to current standard (CEI/IEC 1303).
Both electronic remote unit and ionization chamber are matched and indentified with the same serial
number (affected during the calibration procedure).

Description
The dose calibrator includes:
- a gamma rays detector with a well ionization chamber protected against the background radiation (natural or parasite) by a lead
shielding;
- a remote control electronic unit with a touch screen panel than allows to navigate into the software through the activation of
dedicate zone. This electronic unit is equipped with 3 RS232 type connectors for multiple detector application, a parallel connector for label printing device and a lan eternet interface RJ 45 type;
- a sample holder for the introduction of the radioactive sources to be measured into the well chamber. The sample holder had been
specially designed to present the minimum absorbent screen effect for the radiation to be measured under the 3 principal
radioactive sources conditioning: vial, syringe, capsule.
It includes a removable radio transparent plastic well lining which is placed into the well of the detector in order to protects the
inside of the well chamber from any accidental contamination, notably caused by leakage of the measured radioactive liquid sources
(this well lining is easily removable and decontaminable).
The well chamber can receive as an option the up and down sample holder system Posilift.

Principle
The shielded glove box 4 glove ports from Lemer Pax allows safe handling of isotopes during elution,
fractionating, tagging and measuring. It is designed to protect the operators from both contamination and isotope radiation. The protection against isotope radiation is accomplished through the
exclusive use of lead screens (thickness 15 mm) and lead glass (thickness 24 mm), in order to get
outside an external dose rate absorbed extremely low and homogenous during all phases of use. The
radiation protection allows to manipulate the nuclear medicine medium energy isotopes Tc99m,
Tl201, In111, etc. (cf table). The inside walls of the work area are made of a very resistant and hygienic
material without joint which can be very easily decontaminated and gives a reinforced anti-bacterial

contaminants escaping from the plenum
(over-pressure chamber) is eliminated:
this compartment is entirely surrounded by
zones of negative pressure.
• Filter blockage. To maintain a correct
flow rate and proportion of exhausted air,
it is necessary to increase the speed of the
blower. With the HFL 5, no human intervention is required because it permanently
auto-regulates the speed.
• The air barrier can fulfil its role as protector. An arm rest frees the passage of air
by lifting the sleeves of the operator above
the intake slots.
• The height of the frontal intake is fixed.
Excessive opening, which would destroy
the protective air barrier is impossible.
The window is perfectly airlight its seal is
correctly compressed along its length and
is never subjected to friction.
The cabinet cannot be used in error at half
speed: in the standby position the lighting
is automatically extinguished.
No danger or burning by ultraviolet rays:
they are available when the front enclosure is in place and the main lighting is
extinguished.
Maintenance
A clean conception to optimise decontamination. Smooth surfaces, easily accessible
and without crevices: the working surface
of the HFL 5 has been designed to allow
complete decontamination.
The single piece U formed chamber has
rounded corners and is without soldering.
Its epoxy coating resists abrasion and
disinfectants.
Spillages are retained by the non-segmented
work surface : no need for a drain, which
would act as a site for contamination.
To clean the space beneath the work surface, simply lift the panel without removing it from the cabinet and rest it on its
strut. Even the inside of the window is
easy to clean when swung fully open.
Essential monitoring of the cabinet facilated by the presence of the DOP test outlet
fitted as standard.
Filter exchange can be carried out in
record time: simultaneous access to the
two filters is from the front panel.
In addition, the control and lighting electronics, situated in a non-contaminated
zone, is easily accessible from the outside.
dable and requiring no adjustments.
And finally convenient to install: cramped
passages, elevators, airlocks are no longer a headache!
The minimal depth of the HFL 5 permits it
to pass everywhere (78 cm or with electronic panel dismounted: 73.5 cm).
Handling is safe and simple : fitting points
for lifting handles (Cat. N° 89000547) are
built-in as standard.
Options and accessories
• Support stand height 70 cm (height of
work-bench = 80 cm).
• Front enclosure : very lightweight, rapidly
fitted thanks to magnets and slides away
into its support during work periods.
• Front enclosure fitted with germicidal
UV lamp.
• Gas tap for a Bunsen burner.
• Vacuum valve with progressive tightening.
• Two 16 A earthed electric sockets with protective panel.

The HFL 5 has everything to please those
who must work for long periods, frequently
and who aspire to a justifiable level of
comfort.
Support for the back and arms, assured by
the arm rest, smooth to the touch.

Shielded shredder
Réf. BRMED
Specifications are subject to change. Edition: january 2006.
Tecnical description
• L.660 x H.1470 x D.670 mm
• Weight: 450 kg
• Power: 220 V / 16 A
• Average time per cycle: 5 minutes
• Waste container volume: 15 liters
• Shielding: 15 mm of lead
• Ventilator: 120 m3/h
• Filters: active charcoal, HEPA.
Principle
Lemer presents the shielded bioshred, a nuclear
medecine biomedical waste shredder. The bioshred
is a new innovation in the area of the treatment
and handling of radioactive hazardous biomedical
waste. The bioshred medical waste shredder is a
significant step forward in reducing radiation risk
in the hospital and clinic environment. This new
concept offers a reduction of volume, and easy storage of the principle types of bio nuclear medicine
waste.
The principle of locally handling the treatment of
waste greatly simplifies and reduces the cost of
overall radioactive waste management. Shredding
of all types of nuclear medical waste in one easy
step: this includes plastic, glass, syringe needle,
etc. Decontamination of the waste material by
saturating the waste with a decontaminant spray
throughout each shredding cycle is possible as an
option.
Reduces the risk of infection from punctures and
cuts from infected waste. After processing, the waste
is stored in a solid leak proof container.
Short treatment cycles and ease of use reduce
operator time and energy requirements, thus
reducing costs. Cycle times can be adjusted to suit
specific types of waste. The bioshred is a small,
mobile, easy to handle system that can be placed
in almost any area. The bioshred conforms to all
present and proposed international normes for
safety and is protected by a number of patents.
Numerous safety features protect both operator
and equipment. The bioshred was developped to
solve the ever growing problem of increasing
volumes of medical radioactive waste, as well as
to offer better protection to hospital personel,
patients and visitors. It also offers better protection to the overall environment by decontaminating and reducing the volume of land fill material.
The bioshred offers a simple and effective means
of handling the problem fo nuclear medicine
medical waste.

TFD mousse
Foaming detergent for radioactivity
decontamination
Ref. 02090002
1. Indications
TFD Mousse is an aerosol elaborated specially for the radioactivity decontamination of the surfaces
in nuclear medicine applications.
Cleaning action. TFD mousse contains surface agents to get down the hydrophobic radioactive
ionic or non ionic components of their supports.
Decontamination. TFD mousse contains organic and inorganic sequestrating agents to form watersoluble metallic complexes easily eliminated.
Synergetic effects of these components allow treating most of decontamination applications:
- organic elements
Tritium, 14 C
- metals
60 Co, 99mTc
- actinides
239 Pu, 238 Pu
- rare earth
144 Ce, 140 La
- alkalins
137 Cs
TFD mousse is intended for materials that can’t be dipped in decontaminate radioactive solution.
The aerosol packaging allows locating the contamination. The stability of the foam, in horizontal
and vertical surfaces, avoids dissemination of the contamination.
TFD mousse is compatible with many materials: inox, aluminum, zinc, plastics, rubber, glass, tungsten.
2. Direction of use
Shake up the aerosol before use.
Pulverize directly and shortly above the surface to decontaminate.
Just after spraying, wipe off with an absorbent paper.
Verify the efficiency of the decontamination of the surfaces with a radiometer.
In ruguous surface cases, maintain the contact one minute at least.
