Tallinn has a population of about 400 000 people. The district heating system is old and houses are poorly insulated in comparison to modern standards. A small number of private houses and public buildings have undergone renovations to improve No 1 energy efficiency. A project within the construction sector had the objective of reducing the energy use in the houses by 50 percent. The SEECA delegation from Niepołomice then provided a presentation on their region. Niepolomice is a small municipality within the Malopolska region in the south of Poland. It has 23 000 inhabitants, 9 000 of whom live in the city of Niepołomice The municipality has two Natura 2000 areas. As part of its project outputs, the Niepołomice municipality has decided to produce a monthly calendar for all households in the area. It will contain advice and tips to encourage a more energy efficient lifestyle. such as providing the addresses of recycling centres in the area, highlighting the negative effects of standby buttons on electronic devices, and so on. The speaker also told delegates of their plans to provide a course on Eco Driving (driving vehicles in a way which will reduce their emissions). The next speaker was a representative from the SEECA Uppsala partnership, Ms Leena Marandi, who introduced the communication plan. This included information on Uppsala County Administrative Boards participation in the Open Days in Brussels in October. This will create an opportunity for both entrepreneurs and researchers to introduce their current research on emissions reduction technologies to an potential audience of 5,000 participants from around 200 European regions. The SEECA project will also participate in INFO Days in Brussels in November. which will include 50 Swedish municipalities and five counties in Mälardalen, Sweden. This project aims to save energy and promote energy efficient solutions to private companies and public organizations in Uppsala County. Participating companies can save money by increasing their energy efficiency.
