Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Chairman, UAE Equestrian Federation Introduction to EEF | Emirates Equestrian Federation The Emirates Equestrian Federation was established in 1992 under the Chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Presidents of the UAE Advisor. The Federation supervises the organization of equestrian and racing activities in the UAE to build a large base for this sport and to help the current generation of riders to retain the forefathers' equestrianism and keep pace with the developments of the sport in modern times. The Federation has a significant and effective role in the supervision of all races in the UAE. It also plays an important role in the organization and sponsorship of international races to support the presence of Pure-bred Arabian horses at international levels. In further pursuance of promoting Pure-bred Arabian horses, the Federation organises endurance rides which are highly popular and have received much appreciation from the international equestrian fraternity. The Federation looks forward to develop show jumping by organizing local and international championships and also by training the UAE riders in overseas camps and encourage them to participate in international competitions. The Federation pays utmost care and attention to veterinary services and maintains the reputation of the UAE as a disease and epidemic-free equine state. The Federation also enacts rules and regulations in line with international standards which regulate equestrian and racing sport in the UAE. The Federation includes six departments - Administration, Racing, Endurance, Show Jumping, Veterinary and Media and Publicity. The departments are managed and run by highly-qualified and experienced technical, administrative and media personnel. Foreword by the FEI President It is my pleasure to welcome you to Al Ain for the second Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping qualifier of the 2016 season. Three years ago the new format for this historic series was put in place, dividing the world into six qualifying regions. This has allowed more riders from more countries to participate and in turn has broadened the audience and appeal of this prestigious series. Allowing the series to not only be a venue for the established equestrian stars but also being a more equitable path for the stars of tomorrow. As was Abu Dhabi last year, Al Ain is host for the Middle East leg, one of nineteen qualifiers in a global series that places team work and national pride at the heart of the competition. It is with this spirit that the competing teams will battle for a qualifying spot in the final which will be taking place at the iconic Real Club de Polo in Barcelona in September. For those competing who have also qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics Games, as the Qatar team did here in Abu Dhabi last year, this promises to be an emotional year as Rio 2016 falls between the penultimate and last qualifying leg of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping. The support of Furusiyya and especially HRH Prince Faisal for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping, cannot be over stated and has been essential in the development and restructuring of this world class series, making them a key catalyst in the reinvention this competition has experienced over the last few years. This proactive approach will mean further innovations for the series as it adapts with the global development of the sport, maintaining its appeal for our athletes, National Federations, spectators and media. Our gratitude also goes out to Longines, Top Partner of the FEI and Official Timekeeper of the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping series, for their continued commitment to the series and the ideals for which it stands. On behalf of the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) I wish every success to those athletes competing here, I would also like to extend our appreciation to the event organisers, officials, media, volunteers and spectators for all their invaluable contributions for what promises to be an exhilarating event. Ingmar De Vos FEI President The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) was created by Decree No. (16) of 2006 issued by HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. ADSC’s role is to support and monitor sports clubs and sport institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and to supervise sporting events held in Abu Dhabi to make sure they comply with the international standards. Vision Use the culture of sport professionalism, as well as very well based systematic performance methods, to create sport-proactive environment that will help avail ample opportunities to develop sport and investment in Abu Dhabi. Mission To realise the integration between sports and the society in order to have a healthy and sportive community that will help achieve the plans, ambitions, and expectations of Abu Dhabi Government. Originally launched in 1909, the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping is the oldest and most prestigious team Jumping competition in the world. It was been created to make the sport more accessible to all nations, and enables teams from developing nations to compete on a level playing field with the traditional powerhouses of equestrian sport. As a result of its soaring popularity, the FEI Nations Cup™ events are staged around the world, across a number of continents. Now in its fourth year, Furusiyya is extremely proud to be the title sponsor of the FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping and to be the driving force behind the international expansion of this great equestrian competition. During 2015, 45 nations competed for 18 places at The Final, staged at the outstanding Real Club de Polo in Barcelona. The 2015 Furusiyya Nations Cup™ Jumping Final successfully continued on from the exceptionally high standards set in previous years and featured countries from all corners of the globe, a true reflection of the popularity of Jumping on the global stage. We wish all the horse and rider combinations taking part the best of luck in the 2016 Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™, and we look forward to world class international team Jumping throughout the course of the year.
