A BRIEF MINUTE FROM THE SECRETARY’S DESK Notes from Annual General Meeting Tuesday 9 September 2014 16 members attended the AGM held at the Clubhouse, with apologies accepted from 5 members. MUDTA has a membership of 255 at present. The Centre Management is still on the table for discussion, however we have a coaching contract in place. The President paid tribute to the out-going Committee, competition co-ordinators, Kerrie Solomon and her band of helpers for looking after the Juniors, social tennis organisers, the canteen, cleaning and gardening bands and all our volunteers. Along with tournament organisers, referee, court supervisors, the President thanked all our sponsors. The President thanked Tattler Editor, Val Crook for her wonderful job of keeping us informed each month and Bob Crook and helpers for the stairway to courts 10/11/12. Annual Club Championships were interrupted by rain and there is one event to be completed. The Club Champions are Open Men's Singles - Zac Pitman and Open Ladies Singles - Shaylee Sydenham. Treasurer reported an annual profit/surplus of $28,400 at 31 June 2014. Life Membership was bestowed on Mrs Kerrie Solomon for outstanding service to our Club. She had hoped to speak up when the Celebrant asked for any reason why George should not be married to Amal Alamuddin citing her own wish to marry him. Program is aimed at kids 5-12 years of age with no or little experience in tennis. Aimed at having fun and learning the basics of tennis. MUDTA NEWEST LIFE MEMBER KERRIE SOLOMON INDUCTED 9 SEPTEMBER 2014 At the recently held AGM, Kerrie Solomon, was inducted as a Life Member of MUDTA for her many years of service which have been conducted in her quiet manner without thought of accolades. Kerrie has been co-ordinator of the Junior Competition since 2003 and has co-ordinated the Junior Championships each year. She has continued doing this well after he own children stopped playing tennis. Kerrie has been part of the Management Committee since 2008, has been the club’s Publicity Officer for many years and has tirelessly assisted with the Treasurer’s position, many fund raising events, catering and in recent years has become a court supervisor for junior and senior tournaments. She has now progressed to Referee status with her dedication to all her positions having no bounds. Kerrie’s energy and volunteering efforts she gives to tennis is inspiring. She has been overheard saying, “I’m the winner when volunteering with all the fun times I’ve had over the many years and many friendships developed from doing so”. Kerrie is a quiet achiever with her dedication to always working hard at the club and with the club’s best interests at heart. The team consisted of 4 girls from Wollongong, 1 from Eden, 1 from Narooma as well as our 3 girls from Ulladulla High. Seeded No. 1, as they won the event last year at Bathurst, they finished first in their pool defeating Sydney West 8/4, Sydney East 12/0, Sydney North 10/2 and Western NSW 12/0. The next round against Sydney South West was a very close encounter with South Coast losing their first match 7/5. They then played Hunter Region to win 7/5 giving them 3rd position overall from a draw of 10 State regions. Jasmine will undergo 6 weeks intensive physical training where she must attain a set criteria of achievement. Then onto 6 months study in her chosen field before signing up for 6 years within the Navy where she will be deployed to various locations. Her chosen field is Electronic Warfare!!!
