What’s new?
This year we have added more ‘fast track’ ways to monitor your most critical systems; namely
your core business applications.
We have done this by providing ‘out-of-the-box’ monitoring templates for a whole range of
recognized ERP and business applications which can be deployed in minutes. This means you
can capture and resolve issues before they impact your organization. We have worked in
collaborative ways with major application providers to make this happen.
This year we have also launched MQ Manager, a new solution to monitor WebSphere MQ Series.
We have also launched Cloud-based Reporting and upgraded our Graphical User Interfaces to
make our solutions more agile and even easier to use on your mobile devices.

Network Server Suite offers a scalable and highly functional package of monitoring and systems
management automation tools designed to provide maximum availability of your servers and
network devices – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Windows Server Manager component monitors the key areas of your servers and performs
pre-determined actions as required. Important events and error messages can be seen instantly
on the graphical Enterprise Console during the day, while out of hours, on-call personnel can be

AIX lite VIOS Monitoring
Virtual I/O Server (VIOS) is a Logical Partition (LPAR) which has physical I/O such as Disk Storage
and Network Adapters connected to it.
VIOS Benefits
There are several benefits that come from using VIOS instead of connecting the I/O directly to
an LPAR:

The number of physical I/O adapters can be reduced, saving on both cost and on the
number of adapter slots which are needed. This is an important consideration with today's
systems which offer limited adapter support

VIOS allows you to run IBM i on a Blade - as opposed to the traditional integrated hardware
systems. The cost of Blade hardware is very attractive and this also allows you to consolidate
Intel Blades (running Windows or Linux) and Power Blades (running IBM i, AIX or Linux)
within a single Blade Center

If you are using Storage Area Network (SANs) such as IBM's DS3000 or DS4000 families for
the benefits that these bring in consolidating storage for Intel servers, then these SANs do
not attach directly to IBM i, but they do attach to a VIOS partition and can thus be used by
the IBM i by that route

Did you know that there are many critical services constantly running on your IBM i that
might be going unmonitored? Not monitoring these services could have huge
consequences for your business such as loss of revenue, a fall in productivity and
increased overtime.
For example; the FTP Server is frequently used for sharing data across your IT infrastructure.
If, for some reason, the FTP Server fails or is offline, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
becomes unavailable. Or, if the ports on which your HTTP server (both secure and nonsecure) communicates are unavailable, web pages will not be presented as expected.
